Why won't aperture arrange my images by name?

I loaded pics from my camera into Aperture and the images are all jumbled.  There is no order to them even though the previously loaded images (in the same library) are still in alphanumeric order (by name).

What sorting have you chosen?

Why won't Aperture 2 support RAW files imported from Canon 60D when it does from my Olympus DSLR?

I'm afriad the fact that your Olympus dSLR is supported is no relevance.
The Raw from every model of camera is different. Note: that's every model not every brand. So, the NEF produced by a Nikon D40 is not the same as the NEF produced by a D60, the CR2 produced by a Canon 350 is not the same as the CR2 produced by a Canon 400.
Support for individual camera models has to be added one by one, and Apple will update the OS to work with the most recent version of the software. That's an incentive for you to keep up-to-date. So, for support for your 60D you'll need 10.6.5 plus Aperture 3 and/or iPhoto 11.

  • Why won't Siri learn my new girls name? She always asks if its "sara" and I have to hit yes

Why won't Siri learn my new girls name? She always asks if its "sara" and I have to hit yes

I use exchange and no settings have been changed. Also siri forgets who I am once every two weeks or so and she will only remember my wife's association. Further, in the last two weeks if I asked her to email someone. She will initiate a telephone call. If is say "NO" she initiates a sms and a multitude of other intermittent problems.
I have performed a master reset and reloaded from a back up before the trouple started and the problem still exists.  The problem is on the Siri side and not in my phone as they also show there ugly face on my I pad 4 synced with the cloud for contact info.
Perhaps Siri is aware that I got an Samsung Note 10.1 for Christmas.  It is about the right timing.
P's. Have you tried location reminders?  That fix does not work either.

  • Why won't my edited RAW images show after a LR re-install onto a new Hard Drive?

Hi there. Recently my hard drive took a (hike) and crashed - data may or may not be recoverable (Geeks are working on that), and I needed to reinstall my CS5 and Lightroom software to a new hard drive (I had to buy a new one). All of my RAW photos are stored on an external drive and were not harmed, thankfully.  Here is my dilemma. Most of the presets I used also went crashing with that hard drive, (yes I believe they were backed up but also on that hard drive...stupid I know-trust me I know!!) but most of them were the free ones from the adobe recommended users on this site. I actually found many of my favorites still posted on the Adobe site and re-downloaded and installed the presets I'd been using the past year and a half, and imade sure those presets were housed properly in their folder via Preferences in Lightroom. Great. I can continue on with my work. WRONG! When I went to go import a recent shoot that I had already edited, it imported the RAW files but none of the previous edits I had worked on for these photos were showing up...it was as if I didn't even touch them and they came right from my camera. What in the world is going on? I'm baffled...and freaking out as I have thousands upon thousands of edited shoots in RAW, and I fear that none of the edits and enhancements made to those photos are going to be present and I'll have to start over. Please tell me that all of my last 2 years of editing photos are still with the RAW files?!!!
I found a deal on a an HP Intell Core i7 processor) 2 TB hard drive tower, so I ended up needing to install the 64 bit versions of CS5 and Lightroom 3.6.
I did test out the RAW (.NEF) file in Photoshop CS5 and my edited RAW image came up "correctly" - so I know that the information is still with the RAW image...I just need it to work and show in lightroom, as it is easier to export the files to the sizes I need them to be.
Please be kind in your replies...I appreciate any help/guidance I can get on this. Plus the photos I need are for Seniors graduating in a few months here so you can imagine the panic mode is just a bit higher than normal. Many thanks.

The default location for the backups created by Lightroom on exit is in the same folder as the catalog itself (i.e. that would be on the same faulty drive). It is, however, possible to redirect those backups to a different destination, such as a different hard drive.....but only you know if you did that or not. Do you have any other backups, e.g. drive level backups?
Just to be clear, if you are importing afresh into a new catalog from Raw files that do have XMP sidecar files, you should see the final edited state from the previous catalog, but you won't see the individual history steps that got you there (as that's one of the things that are not included when you write XMP data from within Lightroom). If there is no XMP sidecar, you'll just get the original OOC image.

  • Why won't Mail allow centered images, as they are sent?

I am on a Macbook Po using 10.8.3. My trouble is with Mail. But this has been an ongoing problem for years. I send a lot of drawings and photos via email. When I send them I frequently center them in Mail. They look great. But when I send the file the results are upredictable. I can go to my Sent box to verify, or simply ask my recipient. Some of the time the text and photo will be centered as I had formatted the message. Other times, perhaps 50% of the time, the text will be centered but the photo will be left-aligned. Each time I update my System I hope this problem is resolved. But it has never been resolved. What's up with this and can I do anything about it? Even when I have upgraded, in recent years, with an entirely new System (not migrating the old files) this problem persists. And I have noticed friends who formatted their text and photos to center have had this same issue intermittently, with photos that are left aligned when they were intended to be centered along with the text.
Thanks for any help or workarounds. I like the beauty and flexibility of designing messages with images, when the formatting can be generally trusted.

Thanks for the replies! It's true, email is not particularly reliable for formatting. And, having designed in HTML and Javascript, that's a somewhat more stable media. But as a designer wanting visual flexibility, I wish there were a dependable method, held in the more personalized but immediately visible form of email. PDFs are nice, but they require an extra click. When I receive them, myself, I do not like to have to switch apps. I might allow them to open in the background and then forget about them. And, as for links, I've read that, for example, Facebook links are rarely viewed compared to inline text on Facebook. People prefer inline viewing. In the older versions of Mail, several years ago now (I do not remember when Mail centering began malfunctioning), there was perfect consisistency in the centering function.
…Given all this, I was just writing this post to learn more about the issue, and to find out how widespread the issue is. I wouldn't have even known this were happening unless I'd asked and checked my Sent mail box. I know I am not the only one with this problem. But perhaps it is rare. In that case, it could be an issue for which a solution is possible.
    Thanks again for the responses!

  • Why won't website navigation links/images/buttons load properly when I set my own font & font size options?

I've just noticed a glitch in Firefox when I go to Tools >> Options >> Content >> Fonts & Colors >> Advanced, and set my own font and font size, and force websites to use them. For some reason, this makes websites' navigation buttons fail to show properly.
For example, a website's search bar will show, but the magnifying glass icon will be a box-with-tiny-code. The boxes-with-tiny-code will also replace things like heart icons for Like buttons, arrow icons for Reply and Page Up/Down, things like that.
The link itself is still there, but with all the buttons replaced by identical-looking boxes-with-tiny-code, it's impossible to see what to click without mousing over and hoping a pop-up label will tell me what to use.
Is there a way around this, because I'd like to be able to set a larger font size without making webpages unusable?
ETA: Images of my Tumblr dash, which shows the prblem most clearly, and the font & size options I picked.

It could be there is no room for the icons to show properly.
What is the web address, and''' . . . .'''

  • Why won't Aperture exported jpgs open in Lion?

A while ago I exported my most important projects from Aperture 1.5.6 into a folder that subsequently would contain folders for each project. Names of the exported jpgs within each such folder, are in the format "2005-02-03 19-46-29.jpg". They all differ in file size and opening them in BBEdit shows that they are not all zeros. All in all, there is about 14GB of jpgs that were exported this way. None of the jpgs will now open and I am at a loss as how to repair all of these files. The error that Graphic Converter returns is: "-003:'Forbidden' prefix found in file 2005-02-03 19-46-29.jpg ..."
Here are my current system specs:
    iMac 2009, 2,8GHz core i7, 12GB RAM, running 10.7.5 (11G63)
The files now reside on an external FW disk.
What I have already tried (with no luck) is:
    - repair permissions
    - opening in Photoshop
    - stripping EXIF (and other) metadata from jpgs using Graphic Converter 6.7
    - changing file names and extensions
    - trying to open them on another system
    - trying to import into Aperture 3
    - checked disk health with Disk Utility (all disks are ok)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Tobias
    Stockholm

If you Web search for something like 'repair jpg mac' you'll get a number of hits for both articles discussing the problem and for software (both free and commercial).
I've never had to try and do this so I can't comment on what might work but its a place to start.
    good luck

  • Why won't my trial of CC Photoshop let me save my PSD images as JPG or GIF?

Why won't my trial of CC Photoshop let me save my PSD images as JPG or GIF?

One thing to check is that your PSD is RGB/8 or /16, but not /32  (32 bits per channel)
If that is not the problem
    Let's try this:
Close Adobe Photoshop if it is opened.
Find the following:   (windows user can hit windows key + r, then in run cmd line type "%appdata%" to locate your "AppData\Roaming" directory)
\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC\Adobe Preferences CC Settings
Rename the  "Adobe Preferences CC Settings" folder to "Adobe Preferences CC Settings_old"  so that preferences settings can be recreated.
Reopen Photoshop CC and open a new or existing file to verify that your "save for web" option is back and not grayed out.

more info would help. If you're using actionscript and

level but noticed that when initially published.

  • HT3669 Now that the driver update allows my HP printer to scan, why won't it show up in Image Capture?

Now  that the driver update allows my HP all-in-one to scan, why won't it show up in Image Capture?

    According to IC's help:
If you can’t see your scanner in the list, refer to the documentation that came with your scanner to see how to scan images.
Alternatively, quit IC, reset your AIO in Print&Fax prefPane, relaunch IC, and see if that lists it.

  • Why Can't Aperture 3 Import Finepix HS20EXR .RAF Images?

Aperture 3 support page says that it can support .RAF RAW images from Fuji cameras, however it cannot open .RAF images from Fuji's Finepix HS20EXR. Any idea why this maybe? And is there a software that can convert these files into Aperture supported RAW images? Thanks in advance for your replies!

Each RAW file produced by a specific camera model is different from other models even if the RAW file extension (in this case .RAF) is the same. So it's not the extension that is important but the camera model that determines if a particular RAW file can be read by Aperture.
The list of supported cameras is given here. It does not appear that your camera's model is listed. You could try converting the RAW files to DNG using Adobe's free DNG converter and then importing the DNG's into Aperture.

  • Why when I upload a raw image to Aperture

Why when I upload a raw image to Aperture (23.5mb) and make enhancements to it, then when I export it the size drops drastically (2.1mb)?

This totally depends on your export settings. RAW files are minimally compressed, JPEG files are very compressed. What output size are you using, and what JPEG compression settings? Note 8-10 for JPEG compression is the sweet spot between quality and filesize. I personally use 10.
