Why won't Apple let me set duckduckgo as my default search engine for safari?

I am using a iPad Mini and Safari only lists three options for a default search engine (google, bing, yahoo), all of which lack privacy. I would like to set my default to duckduckgo and would prefer not to modify my iPad illegally or use secondary apps (duckduckgo app). Why won't Apple just let me modify my default search engine manually? I quite enjoy Safari and don't like wasting space with other browsers on my iPad.

No browser can insure privacy.
The options Google, Bing, and Yahoo. Period.

I tried to use Duck Duck Go as my default search engine for Firefox. I had google set as my default search engine. How do I fix it. Cant use about:config.

Duck Duck go won't even let me access About:config. It's like I am locked into Duck Duck go. I checked my add on manager and found nothing about Duck Duck Go there. I ran a scan on Malwarebytes Pro for any kind of virus and found nothing. I really want google as my default search engine. So far I managed to get Firefox as my main search engine. Any help would be appreciated.

What do you mean that it won't let you access the about:config page?
Can't you open the about:config page via the location bar or can't you modify prefs?
You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

Why won't Apple let Leica Disto connect to iPad & iPhone?

I am a surveyor/designer, I take all site measurements using a Lieca Disto and write them on paper. There is software available to link Distos to Anroid tablets but according to Leica apple won't license them to connect via bluetooth to their products. Does anyone know why, or can Apple comment please as it would be so useful, the only alternative otherwise is to go out and buy Android equipment!

I'm not an expert on this, but Apple limits the kinds of data connection available via Bluetooth, and I guess this is the issue for Leica

I am curious, I cant seem to find an answer, but why wont Apple let T-Mobile have the iPhone? All of the other carriers have them, and im curious as to the reason behind the decision to not let T-Mobile have them as well.

Why won't Apple let you use a @me for Apple ID Primary email?

Hello everyone!
I already know that it is impossible at this point to change your primary Apple ID to a @me address. I have called Apple Support and they have already told me that it is not possible at this point.
Does anyone know why they won't let you use it?
Some people have told me that it is apart of your Apple ID, which i know it is. It is an alternate email address for it.
My problem is though is that all my purchases and Apple information goes to my old email address that got hacked.(My new one is the @me associated with my Apple ID)

If, as you said in your first post, there isn't an Apple Store you can get to, call Apple support and talk to them. As Tim suggested, it may be due to your having a repair order open already. If you call Apple, they should be able to get you set up.

Why won't apple let me send my phone in for repair?

My phone is unfortunately water damaged so I want to send it to get repaired.
After filling in the online form on the Apple support page a few days ago I realised I didn't have the £185 it quoted for the repair so I thought I'd leave it until I'd got paid to send for repair.
Now 3 days later, when I fill in the form online to send my phone for repair, once I get to the 'detailed quote and payment' tab, it redirects me to a page that says 'We're unable to complete the repair. Please try again or choose another solution.'
Does anyone have any idea why it seemed to be working fine a few days ago but now just displays this message? I've filled the form in so many times that I feel like I'm going crazy.
I would take it into an Apple Store but there isn't one locally.
Any advice?

Why won't FileVault let me set a key?

This is (from my prospective) quite bizarre. I have a late 2010 Macbook Air which received liquid damage on Dec. 25, 2011 and was repaired (for $784) by Apple in Janurary. When I got it back they had replaced the hard drive and there was a fresh installation of OS X.
I went to turn on FileVault as usual, and it told me "A recovery key has been set by your school, group, or institution"....?!?!?. This was more than a little bit concerning because I don't have a school, group, or institution. At least not one that has anything to do with my Macbook Air!
I was not thrilled and tried calling Apple, but they said I would have to buy AppleCare to ask a question so I just gave up.
Now, fast forward 3 months. I have an actual serious need for the encryption because I an analyzing a confidential national longitudinal data set with personally identifible information on tens of thousands of people, including minors (for my dissertation). Encryption is actually required in the contract I signed. So at the suggestion of my college's IRC group, I tried reinstalling the OS again. It STILL gives that same message!
Does anyone have a clue what's going on?

I made a Genius bar appointment, and he was puzzled too, but escalated it via his channels and came back with this reply:
After a couple of exchanges with our engineering team they have recommended two things you may try.
The first solution is as follows:
Disable FileVault
In the system directory, go to "/Library/Keychains"
Move the files "FileVaultMaster.keychain" and "FileVaultMaster.cer" to the Trash. Deleting the files should then allow you to enable FileVault on the system and provide a recovery key. Refer to article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5077 if you have questions regarding the location of the files.
Second solution:
Performing an erase and reinstall of the computer system will reset the master password and allow you to encrypt the drive again.
Obviously I picked the first solution. It is re-encrypting my disk at the moment, but I did get a recovery key before it started doing so.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

I'd like Firefox to use Google as the default search engine for the URL search field, instead of Yahoo as I currently have. I've tried to find a place to reset this in Preferences but can't find a solution. Would be very grateful for any advice. Imagine it's simple.
NB: I'm talking of the left search field, not the right search engine one where it's easy enough to define.

You can reset the prefs general.useragent.override and keyword.URL on the about:config page.

How do I set Google as the default search engine in Firefox 5? I have tried several fixes but I keep getting a Yahoo search instead of Google.

I want to use Google as my search engine but no matter what settings I change the default search engine is always Yahoo.

why won't Apple let us what is going on with SIRI, it's clearly a HUGE issue for people like me who have had an iPhone since day 1 five years ago and who have waited for them to get this phone right, the very least they could do is let us know what the issue is and what they are doing to resolve it. Not to mention my new phone for some reason doesnt pick up as good as the last phone, does anybody else have this issue??
