Why won't Compressor let me submit? And why use compressor rather than FCP?

Hey I'm using Compressor with Final Cut Hd and a Powermac g5.
So from Final Cut I've gone to 'Export' using 'Using Compressor', for a piece of Quicktime that I want to convert to Mpeg 4. IN compressor, I've set a MPEG 4 conversion, and I've set a destination. But the 'submit' button hasn't come on, and I can't go ahead with the operation. Can anyone tell me the basic things that would prevent me going ahead with the conversion here - no matter how obvious? I'm a new user, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong... any hints?
Secondly, why do I need to use compressor for this - what's the advantage of using Compressor rather than using the QTconversion panel export from Final Cut Pro?
Thanks for your help with these issues - you guys rock!
Best
Richard

You may not have enough free hard drive spacein your destination folder or your destination folder is Write protected. I've had that problem and compressor will not always tell you why its not giving you the ok to submit yu kind of have to figure it out. *** far as the benifit of useing it the only rel one is that you can continue to use final cut to do other work while compressor is working, ut that only works if you first export it as a fcp Quick time move and then open compressor and drag and drop the fcp full dv or hdv quick time movie into compressor for compression. affter that you can quite compressor without even saving it and it will continue to work in the background only using what ever cpu power you aren't using allowing you to continue to work on other parts or projects.

  • Why use JPDK rather than Pl/SQL PDK

    Hi All,
    currently I have deployed all my portlets using the Pl/SQL PDK which is very good, but slow to create portlets in that it takes time to create each portlet.
    what are the advans / disadvans to using the Java PDK to create portlets ?
    I perfer to wqork at the PDK level rather than the portal application level as I have found the PDK portlets much more portable / scalable when installoing on different servers.
    Any information on the JPDK would be very helpful.

    Hello,
    Thanks for your answer, it's very helpful. I'm still looking for a strategy to link the VO and the EO though. I thought about registering the EO in the VO as normally, but not use it in the query (obviously) then override the ViewRow and do some funky stuff in the various 'set' methods to do something like:
    setAttributeInternal(index, value);
    // somehow push the value in the EOHowever, programatically pushing the value in the EO from the VO seems trivial so far, but I'm not sure how good the result will be. I'll test it to see how well it works, but if there's any documentation about that subject that you know of, it would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Greetings,
    I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
    At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
    The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
    I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
    You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • Health app, is it possible to display weight and distance in imperial rather than metric ?

    health app, is it possible to display weight and distance in imperial rather than metric ?

    Hao,
    first of all, you are using a chart which has three options for updates if the chart is "full":
    Strip chart (default)
    Scope chart
    Sweep chart
    These are called "update mode". Test the modes yourself.
    Also you have to know that you will not likely have an integer number of periods of your signal in the display of the chart. Therefore, a continuous signal will "move" the graph from update to update.
    You can implement some algorithm to discard data to maintain a static "trigger" level for display, but as stated, it will leave gaps in the signal. These gaps are not a concern unless you use the displayed signal for analysis (e.g. FFT).

  • Why should i use JSF rather than Struts?

    What makes JSF useful than Struts? In my project I am using like
    <h:commandButton action="#{loginbean.execute}" actionListener="#{loginbean.handleEvent}" ..../>
    In the above commandButton as you can see that i am not exposing the beanName. However i am exposing the beanMethod which are execute and handleEvent. Is there any other way to hide the name of the method because
    From what i understand is Presentation Layer should be shielded from whatever is going on in the backend. So, this doesn't do good right?
    Please suggest.
    How does Component and Renderers help. I am using encodeEnd() method in Renderer to render what the input or the output should look like. Do we need to switch to JSF from Struts just because of this... I don't see how and why components and renderers could help me..

    From what i understand is Presentation Layer should be shielded from whatever is going on in the backend.You can use "binding" and define everything in Java code if you want. You can rename your method to reflect what you want to see in the front end if you want. You can use JSFTemplating to use handlers which can be mapped to any name you want to see and do not have to match the method name of the java class (although I suspect this is the opposite direction from what you are suggesting you want).
    EL in jsf (i.e. #{bean.login}) is meant to do the mapping in JSF pages rather than externalize this in a separate file and force the page developer to edit multiple files for simple tasks. Although in some cases navigation is broken out into a separate file (i.e. faces-config.xml file using the default NavigationHandler navigation rules), this can also be done inline. It's a different way of doing development and has its pros and cons (easier, but mixes up presentation and controller somewhat). That said... JSF is very flexible, it CAN externalize any of this information, it just requires you to provide a different ViewHandler information that allows you to enter the data the way you like to see it (imo, you won't realize any benefit from the separation, though -- I used to think it was worth doing but have changed my opinion).
    So, this doesn't do good right?Perhaps in theory... but in practice, I don't think it really has a drawback. One caveat, I like how I implemented event handling in JSFTemplating as opposed to action/actionListener attributes which are not configurable and are more opaque than I prefer. My parameterized handlers allow for better code-reuse, but arguably mix up presentation and controller code even more (depending on how they're used).
    Please suggest.
    How does Component and Renderers help. I am using encodeEnd() method in Renderer to render what the input or the output should look like. Do we need to switch to JSF from Struts just because of this... I don't see how and why components and renderers could help me..The idea of a component helps tremendously as someone else can create a component for you and you can benefit from it. There are many great component sets available on the market (for free and for purchase). For example: Woodstock (which has drag/drop support inside NetBeans), RichFaces, IceFaces, Tomahawk, Scales, etc.
    Renderers allow you to cleanly separate the presentation of a component with the data of the component. You can then switch out the presentation to support multiple markups (i.e. client devices). In addition, JSF's rich lifecycle provide logical places for certain types of operations to occur, the renderers participate in this so that they are performing their tasks at a well defined time. And finally, many different components may re-use the same renderer, or a single component may use one of several renderers. The separation of data and display (model and view) makes this very clean.
    JSF is not Struts. If you expect it to be struts, you may be disappointed (or if you expect struts to be JSF, you'll be disappointed). JSF has a lot to offer (as does struts), you have to decide what is important to you and your organization. Some things to consider wrt to JSF: very strong vendor support; many large set of components to choose from; multiple standards-based tools to choose from; very flexible (most parts of the framework are pluggable); active growing development community; component-based model which encapsulates complexity for things like Ajax, pagination, and other things (often complicated in a non-component architecture); good integration with other frameworks.
    I don't know if this makes your decision any easier, but hopefully it helps clarify how you should be viewing JSF & Struts.
    Good luck!

  • HT1449 Is there a way to "Organize Library" and *move* the files, rather than *copy* them?

    I was trying to move my iTunes Library from the old iTunes Music folder to a new-style iTunes Media folder.
    The Organize Library command wants to copy my 219 GB library. Is there any way to do the same thing but move the files instead? There's no way I'm going to be able to free enough space to make a copy of my whole library, and I would really rather not move the whole thing to an external drive, just to move it all back to the proper folder on my internal drive.

    Let's recap.
    Your iTunes media library is in an old school layout, library in the usual location of <User>/Music/iTunes containing a media folder called iTunes Music. You have updated the iTunes preference for the media folder to <User>/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media but, as expected, most if not all your media is still on the old path. And you want to rearrange your library to the current layout.
    Correct? If so then the following steps will sort out your library:
    Change the media folder preference back to <User>/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music. Close & then reopen iTunes.
    Use File (iTunes?) > Library > Organize Library > Rearrange files in the folder "iTunes Music" to get iTunes using the new internal structure for the media folder. Ignore if this option is grayed out, you've already done it.
    (Sorry, I'm a PC user so a bit hazy on precise layout of Mac menus)
    Use File (iTunes?) > Library > Organize Library > Consolidate files to pull in copies of any files that made it into the iTunes Media folder or are scattered elsewhere.
    Delete the now redundant folder iTunes Media.
    Close iTunes, rename iTunes Music as iTunes Media, start iTunes, check under iTunes > Preferences > Advanced that the media folder preference has automatically updated to .../iTunes Media, correct if required.
    (Optional). Close iTunes, rename the library file iTunes Library as iTunes Library.itl then click the icon to start iTunes and immediately press and hold down option. When prompted to choose or create a library click choose and browse to the renamed file.
    I could have suggested using Doug's script Re-locate Selected but the process above is much more efficient. You could use this however at step 3 to avoid the temporary duplication of the files from iTunes Media or housekeeping for any other files stored ourside of the iTunes Music folder.

  • Submit form as an email rather than an attachment

    When someone submits a form with answers, I need the answers to be in the body of the text, rather than as an attachment. How do i get this to happen?
    Scott

    You can inject data into the string that gets sent to the email program, you don't have any control over formatting except for returns and that kind of thing.
    Here are a couple of ways of doing it:
    var strToAddress, strCCAddress, strSubject, strMessage
    strToAddress = txtToAddress.rawValue;
    strCCAddress = txtCCAddress.rawValue;
    strSubject = txtSubject.rawValue;
    strMessage = txtMessage.rawValue;
    event.target.submitForm({cURL:"mailto:"+ strToAddress + "?cc=" + strCCAddress + "&subject=" + strSubject + "&body=" + strMessage,cSubmitAs:"PDF",cCharset:"utf-8"});
    You can use variables in the following as well:
    var oDoc = event.target;
    oDoc.mailDoc({
    bUI: true,
    cTo: "[email protected]",
    cCC: "[email protected]",
    cSubject: "The Latest News",
    cMsg: "A.P., attached is my latest news story in PDF."

  • Browsing other folders and ext. HDD rather than iTunes and iPhoto - iMovie 09

    Hi all,
    Just wondering if there was any way you can browse other folders within your local hard drive or external hard drive rather than using the default iTunes and iPhoto directories?
    I have audio and images located in other parts of my hard drive, including an external hard drive.
    It would be great to be able to broswe through all my other folders and directories.
    Cheers

    iMovie is part of a suite of apps - iLIfe, so it prefers its 'neighbors'.
    to add files from other locations, simply use MacOS' drag-'n-drop functionality: open a Finder Window, go to the file's location, grab it with the mouse and drop it into your Project Timeline.
    This procedure does NOT guarantee iM accepts 'any' files!

  • When you download a file and choose "open with" rather than "save as", what temporary folder is the file saved to?

    When I downloaded an important document, I accidentally chose "open with" rather than "save as" and I'm unable to re download the file to save it from the internet. I know its somewhere on my computer, but I can't find it! What temporary folder are the "open with" files saved to?
    Thanks,

    hello, such files will be stored in the default windows temp folder. you can get to it by pressing windows-key+R & opening: '''%temp%'''

  • Why can't Mac users, who have multiple devices, have device icons for drag and drop, on desktop rather than iCloud, iTunes, etc. ?

    I want drag and drop in the form of icons on my iMac, from all my other Apple devices. I don't want to have to go through iCloud, iTunes and DropBox.

    What are you other apple devices?
    For an all Mac OS X set, you could write an applescript to perform the task.

    Hi All,
    I have a XML report which should produce output in PDF.
    But when i submit for certain parameters the program is ending in Warning
    and in xml output it gives following error
    The XML page cannot be displayed
    Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

    The actual value Luminaire colour: SW302F Gris 900 SablÂÂÂÂÂ
    Because of these junk chracters this issue is raising. But THE THING I AM NOT UNDERSTANDING IS. The same value in other report is getting printed without any warning.
    Please through any ideas.

    Hi,
    In the report where I have no issues with the junk characters the Encoding format is
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1" ?>
    In the report where I am getting this issue have following format.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    Please let me know , what should I do now or where should I change this to get that output with out warning or invalid character issue.
    I use Report builder 10g and XML publisher for the RTF templates.
    Thanks.

  • Email from toolbar - how to submit as an attachment (pdf) rather than xml

    I am using LiveCycle Designer version 8.05.
    When I open my form in Acrobat (8) or Reader (8/9), the e-mail button on the toolbar defaults to sending an xml file.  I would prefer it to be an attached pdf file, since most of the recipients won't understand how to import data into a form.  The form is meant to be printed and signed to be submitted.
    Is there any way to make the toolbar button default to attaching a pdf?  I've read the threads about buttons on the forms, but haven't seen one addressing the toolbar.
    Thanks-
    deb.

    orry about that..  I'm totally wrong, and this works as it should.
    When I do use the "email" button, it gives me an error when the form is  blank.  I (wrongly) assumed that it was trying to attach a blank xml file.
    It won't attach a blank or partially filled pdf file, but I think this  is ok.  I'd prefer they fill it completely before e-mailing it, anyway.

  • Cp1518 - on a mac - is there a way to choose only black and white printing only rather than overide?

    as above - can I just choose to do black and white only, or grayscale pictures on my cp1518?  alot of the time that is all I want.
    Thanks

    I suppose that would have helped! Here is an image. I am imagining a more "white" look even with a transparency. I have to print this 4c digitally, and i'm worried because my printout looks even more orange-y/pink than what you see on screen.
    I will try what you suggested in Photoshop, but let me know if you think of something else once you see the image.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    I have both Safari and Firefox on this iMac that's running 10.6.8.  Safari is my default browser.
    Within Mail Preferences, the Default RSS Reader is set up to use Safari.  However,  Mail always links to Firefox.  Why is this and how do I change it?
    Thank you,

    Nevermind, I've figured it out!
