Why won't Elements 5 run?

Why won't Elements 5 run on my Win 7 Pro machine? When this custom machine was first set up, all the programs running on my prior Dell Win XP machine were installed on this machine, including Elements 5.
Recently, my hard drive crashed and the mfg couldn't install most of the programs I had, including Elements 5. I still had the original disk and installed the program. It went through the installation and put a shortcut on my desktop. Unfortunately, when I clicked on the short cut, nothing happened. I went to the location of the the executable file and clicked on it. Same thing.
I went to my tech support company and they helped me uninstall the program and we "repaired" the program but it still wouldn't run. We reinstalled from the CD and it still wouldn't run.
Is there anyway, I can get my program to run? If it comes down to having to purchase a new program, I'll just use the Windows photo program. I think whatever is going on is lousy!

Did you try right clicking and run as administrator?
You could also try setting up a new user account an see if it will run from there.
I'm running version 5 on one machine with W7 Pro 64 bit with no problems.

My opinion on this....from the Photoshop Elements perspective...
Nikon D810 is supported by Camera Raw 8.6 and higher (latest version of Camera Raw is 8.7)

At the same time, the Camera Raw version needs to be supported by the Photoshop Elements version.
Photoshop Elements 12 appears to support Camera Raw up to 8.5 which does not support the Nikon D810.

Solution...
a. switch to Photoshop Elements 13 (comes with Camera Raw 8.6 and can be updated to 8.7).
b. use the DNG Converter in Photoshop Elements 12

Unfortunately Adobe is behind the curve when it comes to social networking.
My advice is to upload directly until Adobe can guarantee reliability.

Why won't Elements 10 accept my password when it did before?

I have tried numerous times to put in the password when opening Elements 10. It would not accept it. so I decided to get a new password. In filling out the outline they want you to click yes on the Personal URL. Meaning I assume that you put your pictures on the wed for others. I do not want this. Am I not understanding that. OK so I'm an teacher and recently I've recieved new software to try out with my classes and obviously it won't run on my laptop (os Mountain LIon). So I started to investigate the options.
1 Make partitions and run two os's at separate times. NOT working anymore not sure why.
2 Use bootcamp to run the two os's. Haven't tried yet.
3 Use a virtual machine. After investigating I chose to use Parallels 7. It downloaded and seemed very user friendly and even gave me the option of a trial windows 8. I installed it and the program wouldn't work it needs to be a windows 7 so I found one and it wouldn't work either then tried to install Snow Leopard. I tried with the disc that came with my laptop didn't work said that only server versions are supported so I found a server version downloaded it and installed it but it won't even give me the option of seeing the disc within Parallels and my file sharing isn't working with it.
So that's where I'm at, I've been working at this for a week now, reading around and trying new things but still not sure why none of them run the program.
A MichaelLax has posted a detailed way to install snow leopard but I'm not sure why all the terminal parts are necesary if that's what I need to do I'll do it but I don't understand why.

I'm not looking to use the Parallels or any program much only to acces the information that they've given me to see if I can use it.

OK so here we go I installed windows again and everything seems to be working as normal so I put the disc in and I took screen shots but it won't load them for some reason but anyways here it is. These are the files and what happens when I click on them
Audio file     audio files always able to access
Video file     same as audio

autorun      when I click on it saws notepad is too small I need a bigger editor

TN_active teach file     when opened on the mac side it says its a powerpc product it won't open and on the windows side it switches to mac and opens stuffit expander (the compression thing I told you about) and then creates a file with nothing in it

the link you posted BobTheFisherman was very helpful except for the fact that I need to install it first but I tried anyways and the indicated files had not been made yet.
In the end though I've come to the conclusion that it is not a Parallels or mac problem but simply one of the software I'm going to look for other windows programs to test how they work though just to prove my hypothesis I thank both of you for your efforts on helping me.

Why won't Elements 9 trial download

I am trying to download a trial version of photoshop elements 9 to see how I like it before buying it and no luck for 2 days getting it to download. Called support and they were NO HELP AT ALL!!! The man who could barely speak english said not much help for trial versions. In other words, til Adobe has my money, they won't help me. Not a good way to win me over as a potential customer. The small black box that says Akamai Download Manager Installer comes up but nothing else will happen after that.

I have a fast connection but it still took me over 30 minutes to complete the downloads from Adobes busy servers. The Akamai Download Manager allows you to pause and re-start download whenever you need.
N.B. It won’t work with some browsers such as Google Chrome. It’s recommended you use Internet Explorer 7 or 8; or Firefox 2 or 3 on Windows.
On Mac OS X 10.5 - 10.6 use Firefox 2 or 3; or Safari 5.

Why won't Elements 6 open RAW files

I just purchased a new Canon 50D camera and 6 won't open my RAW files. Been working fine with my old Canon Rebel. Can't find any update. Do I need to get Elements 8????

The latest compatible camera raw update for PSE6 is Camera Raw 5.6.
Looks like it does not support the Canon 50D camera. But the latest carera raw plug-ins support this camera but these are only compatible with PSE8. So you will have to upgrade to PSE8 for this.

Why won't Elements 6.0 boot up?

Since it would not boot up, I went to control panel to attempt to repair it.
When asked, I inserted the instal disc and then it asked to instal disk one. Well I don't know what disc one is
because all I have is the original installation disc...............and Elements 6.0 does not open.

It's a common error...been around since at least E2. The workaround is to copy your setup.exe from the disc into your OS clipboard, then paste the setup.exe onto your desktop. Run the installation from desktop.

Why won't Elements 9 Organizer share with SmugMug ?

The Elements 9 Organizer doesn't want to share with SmugMug. Any attempt at sharing an Organizer photo brings up a SmugMug log-in screen every time. If the log-in information is entered, the photo is then shared with SmugMug. This has never been an issue and I don't want the hassle of entering log-in information with every sharing attempt. I've tried several possible solutions without any success. I'm wondering if upgrading to Elements 10 will be necessary. Any ideas would be appreciated.

See if following steps help:
1. Open Organizer preferences.
2. Navigate to 'Adobe Partner services' and click on 'clear online service date' button.
3. Right click 'PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe' located at 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 9 Organizer\' and select the option as 'Run as admin'.
Please revert if issue is not resolved.

Why won't Flash run on older macs?

I have a mac running OS X 10.5.8, your download site says I need 10.6 or above - I don't upgrade OS's until it is necessary - please provide your product for 10.5.8 - it is not that old an OS to drop support!

Let me clarify. I have a good reason to not upgrade my Mac. I currently have several Macs that are shared by 3 people in my family. I have 2 Macs from 2012 and one from 2008(I believe 10.5.8 is an upgrade to what came out in 2008) that I am currently using.
The Mac from 2008 has OS X 10.5.8. The reason I won't upgrade this is my Microsoft Office on there is a Power PC based version. The Macs in 2008 came with something that allowed them to run Power PC based software even though they were an Intel platform at that time.
If I upgrade the OS, I have to purchase a new version of Microsoft Office since the latest Mac OS does not support the old Power PC software.
Anyone that has used computers for more than a few years understands that anytime you upgrade an OS, you get the (mandatory) opportunity of upgrading potentially all the software you have on that computer and sometimes that costs money.
I have a more recent version of Office, but not one I have purchased for use on the 2008 Mac. Constantly upgrading operating systems results in the potential for expenses related to upgrading other software to stay compatible.
As a result, although I accept all the free updates on an operating system, I do not generally pay to upgrade the software on a machine. That upgrade has to wait until I consider the machine to obsolete to repair and then I buy a new machine and generally will upgrade the software that I need to.
I learned this with Microsoft and its software - avoid paid for upgrades to software unless you need some new features.
I already have older versions of flash on all my computers, I have a website that refuses to operate with older versions of Flash.
My option on these websites is they will only work on my newest Mac.
Note - I believe that although I am not running my 2008 Mac on Lion or Mountain Lion (10.8 variations on OS X), it is running an update that was current as of early 2012 and was still supported by Apple in 2012.
What I am asking is that Adobe continue to support older operating systems for a period of time past their most recent updates. The other option is to give people that develop for Adobe Flash, information so their flash content is compatible with multiple versions of flash. The last option is to send people like me outside in the ice and snow and let us suffer without flash.

Why won't Elements 12 open Canon camera RAW files ending in IMG?

I have a new camera, Canon SX50 which produces RAW images called IMG files. I tried to open one in Photoshop Elements 12 and it says it does not handle that file type. I have Windows 7 x64 operating system. I tried to find updates for Elements 12 and don't see any. (I thought I needed a Camera RAW update). What do I do?

I am not sure if it is relevant but literally 30 mins ago I saw my sytem said there were 2 updates for PSE and PE .
I accepted and saw it loading tons of stuff 45 MB or so all labelled Camera Raw or something like that - maybe that is a fix for your problems
NB I am totally inexperienced just mentioned it as you might check out if you are up to date, and if the latest update helps your issue.

Why won't Elements 13 on new 8.1 machine open?

After sign in, it brings up the license. I click on Accept and I am kicked out of the program.

I have a new Lenovo Yoga Pro with Windows 8.1. I loaded Elements 9 which I had been using on my previous laptop. When I loaded it on this machine, the menus are so tiny that I can't read them. I downliaded Elements 13 When I sign in, it sends me to the license where I click on Accept and get kicked out of the program. Two long sessions on Chat with no success. The last session they took my phone number and said someone would call me. They did not. I deleted and downloaded again. Same result. Any ideas?

I bought photoshop elements 13 today and after HOURS of trying to get it to install it worked and everything. After it was done it said ready for use. So, I went to open the program and it asked me to sign into my adobe ID and says its required to activate the software. I login and accept the terms then all the boxes go away and I try again to open the program and every time the login to adobe ID comes up. I've gone through the process about 20 times and I've restarted my computer. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Has anyone else had this problem??
What can I do to fix it?

Why won't Elements work on both of my laptops?

I just bought a new laptop and I installed Elements on it and copied all my files and I am installing them. I just found out I should have copied my catalog and reinstalled that with all it's attributes. When I try to ope Elements in the old one I get the wellcome screen PE starts to open and than closes down. What's wrong.

t. By the way, I've always transferred PSE Catalogues by doing a Backup in the File menu
to an external disk drive and then restore using Elements on the new PC.
