Why won't Elements 6.0 boot up?

Since it would not boot up, I went to control panel to attempt to repair it.
When asked, I inserted the instal disc and then it asked to instal disk one. Well I don't know what disc one is
because all I have is the original installation disc...............and Elements 6.0 does not open.
What to do?

It's a common error...been around since at least E2. The workaround is to copy your setup.exe from the disc into your OS clipboard, then paste the setup.exe onto your desktop. Run the installation from desktop.

Why won't Elements 5 run?

Why won't Elements 5 run on my Win 7 Pro machine? When this custom machine was first set up, all the programs running on my prior Dell Win XP machine were installed on this machine, including Elements 5.
Recently, my hard drive crashed and the mfg couldn't install most of the programs I had, including Elements 5. I still had the original disk and installed the program. It went through the installation and put a shortcut on my desktop. Unfortunately, when I clicked on the short cut, nothing happened. I went to the location of the the executable file and clicked on it. Same thing.
I went to my tech support company and they helped me uninstall the program and we "repaired" the program but it still wouldn't run. We reinstalled from the CD and it still wouldn't run.
Is there anyway, I can get my program to run? If it comes down to having to purchase a new program, I'll just use the Windows photo program. I think whatever is going on is lousy!

Did you try right clicking and run as administrator?
You could also try setting up a new user account an see if it will run from there.
I'm running version 5 on one machine with W7 Pro 64 bit with no problems.

Photoshop Elements questions should be posted in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum. Somehow your thread got posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum (video editing).

My opinion on this....from the Photoshop Elements perspective...
Nikon D810 is supported by Camera Raw 8.6 and higher (latest version of Camera Raw is 8.7)

At the same time, the Camera Raw version needs to be supported by the Photoshop Elements version.
Photoshop Elements 12 appears to support Camera Raw up to 8.5 which does not support the Nikon D810.

a. switch to Photoshop Elements 13 (comes with Camera Raw 8.6 and can be updated to 8.7).

Why won't Elements 10 accept my password when it did before?

I have tried numerous times to put in the password when opening Elements 10. It would not accept it. so I decided to get a new password. In filling out the outline they want you to click yes on the Personal URL. Meaning I assume that you put your pictures on the wed for others. I do not want this. Am I not understanding that. If the C key for Install Disc or R Command for OS X Recovery startup commands are not working, try holding the Option key for the Startup Manager.

If that does not work and you using a wireless keyboard, it may have become unpaired and you need to dig up a USB keyboard to invoke the startup commands.

Why won't Elements 9 trial download

I am trying to download a trial version of photoshop elements 9 to see how I like it before buying it and no luck for 2 days getting it to download. Called support and they were NO HELP AT ALL!!! The man who could barely speak english said not much help for trial versions. In other words, til Adobe has my money, they won't help me. Not a good way to win me over as a potential customer. The small black box that says Akamai Download Manager Installer comes up but nothing else will happen after that.

I have a fast connection but it still took me over 30 minutes to complete the downloads from Adobes busy servers. The Akamai Download Manager allows you to pause and re-start download whenever you need.
N.B. It won’t work with some browsers such as Google Chrome. It’s recommended you use Internet Explorer 7 or 8; or Firefox 2 or 3 on Windows.
On Mac OS X 10.5 - 10.6 use Firefox 2 or 3; or Safari 5.

SOLVED: Why won't Satellite 4090XCDT not boot with DVD-R/W drive?

as I stated in the other thread which has been closed already, I purchased an used Satellite notebook which would not boot from the 3rd Party DVD-RW drive (Quanta Storage SDW-042) included, even though Windows could it read well enough.
I found out why, starting with the help of the user replies in the other thread.
In the user manual there is a description in the capitel about system configuration regarding tconfig, which proved to be a valuable hint: HDD = Primary IDE (1F0H/IRQ14) (...), CD-ROM = Secondary IDE (170H/IRQ15). Compared to my desktop, it seemed to me that both drives should be masters on Cable Nr. 1 and Cable Nr. 2, not like Master and Slave on the same HDD Cable. So, my CD-ROM probably had to be Master.
Then I researched further into the matter and found out, that there are CD-ROM where cable select choses if they are master or slave. Then I found in
http://www.dschen.de/laptop_brenner/ a remark that in his Toshiba Satellite Pro 4290, there seemed to be no Cable Select and his notebook expected the CD-ROM (or the DVD drive he wished to use) to be a master.
Cable select means that Pin 47 is grounded, which he did by applying a drop of solder from Pin 47 to Pin 49, which is besides Pin 47. I tried the same and took apart the DVD drive which was in my Notebook. (My record in taking apart my notebook and mounting everything again correctly now has gone down to 50 minutes). And know what, my Satellite 4090XCDT now can boot from the DVD RW!
To perform the task I needed a watchmaker's screwdriver to open the DVD RW (three screws, and then you must insert a pin to open the tray and see the plug from the backside), a 12 Volt pin type soldering iron for SMD and I controlled the solder bridge with a stereo microscope, so this task is not trivial. See the mentioned link to find out which pins are bridged (sorry, the website is in german but the Pic is clear: in the upper row of pins, the only you can see, the 2nd and third from the right). And of course with a replacement part "from the scrap", you might grant your notebook a second life but you run a risk, because you can not know what you have, master or slave (by firmware or hardware), broken anyway, cable select - and another website states that they have watched up to 17 firmware variants in exactly the same drive, depending on what notebook it was intended for use.

I just purchased a new Canon 50D camera and 6 won't open my RAW files. Been working fine with my old Canon Rebel. Can't find any update. Do I need to get Elements 8????

The latest compatible camera raw update for PSE6 is Camera Raw 5.6.
Looks like it does not support the Canon 50D camera. But the latest carera raw plug-ins support this camera but these are only compatible with PSE8. So you will have to upgrade to PSE8 for this.

Why won't my macbook air boot up after mountain lion update?

I updated to mountain lion yesterday. computer acted funny at the end of the night, so i shut the lid. today, i opened the lid and it didn't turn right on. so i powered up. got about halfway into booting, and shut off. now it won't start up at all. any help would be awesome! 1,000 karma points to anyone who know what to do, since it won't boot up at all anymore.

it seems to be a power/battery issue. unplugged, it won't boot up at all. plugged in, it boots. as soon as i unplug, macbook air turns off. hope this helps you problem solving gurus out there.

Why won't my iPad mini boot up?

Bought my iPad mini last summer and it has worked fine.
But now it won't boot up. It just shows a white screen with the black apple logo. Every other couple of minutes, a sort of blue screen will go over the white screen like a blanket, and then it returns to the white screen.
Pushing buttons and swiping the screen produce nothing.
Thought I would try restoring it, but when I plug it into iTunes on my computer, iTunes won't show the device icon.
Don't know what operating system it has . . . . I can't "get" into it, and the box that it came in, with the tiny pamphlet, don't say!
It is 16G, I do know that . . . .

Why won't my MacBook Air boot-up?

My MacBook Air won't boot up. When turning power on it begins to initialize as normal but never gets past the white screen with the Apple logo. The circle that indicates that it's booting up just spins and spins, but nothing ever happens. I have tried both restarting and completely shutting down, but the same problem occurs. I'm stuck....can anyone help me get past this glitch?

Your SSD could be permanently damaged. Can you boot into recovery mode? CMD+R on startup.
If you cannot get into recovery mode, any further diagnosis is pure speculation and futile.
Contact Apple for full in shop diagnosis and possible SSD replacement (if necessary).

Why won't my iMac 27" boot from external hard drive?

I have a new 27in Intel i5 dual core 3.6GHz iMac. It works wonderfully.
My question is this. I have a Pleides Ice Cube external hard drive with a USB 2.0/Firewire enclosure with a 500GB hard drive. I used diskutility to format the hard drive as a GUID Partition Table. I then used SuperDuper to clone the iMac OS 10.6.7 and Apps over to it.
I can select the external drive in System Preferences/Startup Disk to boot from, but when booting the iMac gets as far as the white screen then just stops loading.
I have tried both the USB connection and the Firewire connection (with a Firewire 800 to 400 cable).
I have run Disk Utility and repaired the disk and the preferences.
I have used Disk Warrior to rebuild the directory as well, but the iMac will not boot from the drive.
It does boot from the original DVD's and its own hard drive.
My old 24" iMac had no trouble booting from this hard drive or any of the others I have collected over the years, so I am reluctant to think it is the external drive. It is something to do with this particular processor Snow Leopard and external drives.

It sounds like something in the SuperDuper clone might not have copied well. To get the full answer on that I would check with Apple or SuperDuper to see if they support each other.
As a quick test, if you restart and immediately press and hold "option" on your keyboard do you see your external HD as an option to boot from? If so, click it and see if the boot runs any differently, but if you don't see it at all that could show that the problem is more deep rooted.
Personally, if looking in to either of those didn't give me any other info to go on, I would reformat and start the clone again. BTW, do you know for sure GUID Partition is the format you'd want to do this on? Generally macs use "Mac OS Extended" and some external HDs can use "FAT32" (if you want them to work well with Windows)

Alright here's what I'm working with.
Macbook Pro (late 2011)
16gb ram
128gb SDD
750gb HDD (both internal, took the optical drive out and did a data doubler)
2.2 intel core i7
I'm trying to install windows 7 on a partition of my second hard drive. When I run through bootcamp, all goes well, creates partition and then restarts. Now when it restarts, it comes up with a Windows looking screen with a black screen and white underscore flashing in the top left corner of the screen, as if we were in terminal. I know the disk is not the problem, as I have tested it and run it perfectly on another computer to make sure, and I previously used it to parition my original hard drive. Also, when I restart and hold the option key to determine which drive I want to boot off of, only my Mac OSX drive (SSD) and recovery drive shows up (built into OSX Lion).

I do hear that Windows is picky about what partition it's installed in #1 or #2 should be fine , also you should do this before Windows validates with Lord Redmond or else when you Winclone, you'll have to revalidate and it takes a few days to enable it, then to get all the updates you need installed or your Windows could get pwned fast.
I haven't done this WinClone thing, I prefer virtual machines myself so I can update Windows from clean verisons,

Why won't Elements 12 open Canon camera RAW files ending in IMG?

I have a new camera, Canon SX50 which produces RAW images called IMG files. I tried to open one in Photoshop Elements 12 and it says it does not handle that file type. I have Windows 7 x64 operating system. I tried to find updates for Elements 12 and don't see any. (I thought I needed a Camera RAW update). What do I do?

I am not sure if it is relevant but literally 30 mins ago I saw my sytem said there were 2 updates for PSE and PE .
I accepted and saw it loading tons of stuff 45 MB or so all labelled Camera Raw or something like that - maybe that is a fix for your problems
NB I am totally inexperienced just mentioned it as you might check out if you are up to date, and if the latest update helps your issue.
