Why won't Firefox 4 save my pages like the old version when I close the program?

I just updated to Firefox 4. In the old version, when I closed the program, it would save my open sites, and they'd reopen when I reopened Firefox. Is there a way to make the new version do that?

If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
# Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
# Go to the General panel
# Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
Firefox 4 automatically saves the session, if it is not saving the session, the file that stores the details may be corrupt. To fix that first open your profile folder, for details of how to find it see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles
Now close Firefox and then delete sessionstore.js in the profile folder. A new version of this file will be created when you next start Firefox.

  • Why won't Firefox save my tabs?

When I go to 'tools' and click, 'start private browsing session', when I close the browser, the tabs are never saved. When I go to 'tools' and click 'stop private session' when I close the browser, the tabs are never saved. The browser will never save my tabs. After I close the browser, when I open it again, I see only the Firefox page. Please help me. Thank you.

Private Browsing doesn't save browser history, so there isn't any history to save when you close Firefox and then there's no Tab history to restore.

  • I am having trouble with the updates to firefox. Each time I start it I get a page that says proxy server refusing connections and have to reinstall the old version just to use the internet. That also removes the personas from my browser.

I currently have version 3.0.10 and have gotten two prompts to upgrade my version of firefox and each time I do install the new version and then try to start up Firefox, I get a page instead that says proxy server is refusing connections and the only way to browse is to re-install the old version. I also have to re-install the old version at least 3 times before I can use Personas.

In Firefox 3.6.4 and later the default connection settings have been changed to "Use the system proxy settings".<br />
See "Firefox connection settings" in [[Server not found]]
You can find the connection settings in "Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection"<br />
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select No Proxy

  • Firefox 6.02 will not save my privacy settings (Use Custom Settings) when I close the window

I am trying to set up my preferences in Google and it tells me that my cookies are not enabled. I open the Firefox 6 Preferences / Privacy window and select the Custom Settings option, to enable third party cookies. When I close the screen the setting is not saved. I am using Firefox 6.02 with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

I took the check mark out of the "Remember Download History" box and closed the screen. It saved the privacy settings.

  • Although I have the latest version of Firefox installed, I'm constantly getting the warning message that I AM USING THE OLD VERSION; what could be the issue here?

I usually upgrade Firefox within a couple of days when the new version is issued. Nevertheless, I can't seem to get it right. Although when I check "About Firefox" tab in the Help menu it says that my version is 9.0.1 (i.e. the latest version available) - still on the Firefox Update page I always get this annoying msg:
"''Hey there! Looks like you’re using an old version of Firefox.
Don’t miss out on the latest technology & security features.
Get the free upgrade in less than a minute.''" And, I see that your "educated guess" about my browser recognises it as a 3.5.5 version (far being it from the truth!).
I don't believe that the fact that I'm still using Windows XP should have anything to do with this problem, but fyi - my OS is Win XP SP3, regularly updated and upgraded.
Also, even though I live in Croatia, I prefer my Firefox (and other programs) in English, so I use UK version of Firefox.
I do have some problems updating MS .Net Framework - could this be the issue with Firefox too?
Anyway, I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, even tried installing Croatian version - nothing helped.
As a result of this, I also have a problem with Gmail - I can only use standard, basic HTML view. Also annoying as hell.
Btw, as for "Installed plugins" - I'm not sure which of those are right, but I do not have Netscape installed, and never had one on this computer. I even ran the search for term "Netscape" and it came out empty.
There, I think I've provided as much information as I could think of - so, please help me to sort this out - if you can.
    Thanks

  • Why won't Firefox load some pages correctly?

On my everydayhealth.com site where I keep my fitness journal, suddenly the graphics are gone and all I have is a page with text and numbers on it. After it switches to this text page, at the very top it will say "Location TemplateTop not found in page 40811."
On another site I shop all the time, sephora.com, when I would click on a makeup area I want to go it would give me an oops page and tell me I have ventured into some unknown beauty territory.
I thought NoScript was causing this so I disabled it. Since doing that my Sephora site seems to be working. And initially my diet journal seemed to come back too. But then the journal page again flipped to this text and numbers page with that message at the top. Sephora seems to still be working.

More specifically, after logging in, go to the support forum at (https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions), then you should see the "My Contributions" link.
Despite their similar names, Java and JavaScript are two completely separate things. Java is used for Java applets, and JavaScript is used for interactivity in pages. NoScript prevents JavaScript (and Java) code from executing in pages unless its explicitly allowed.
JavaScript in particular is a technology that many web developers rely on, and expect browsers to have enabled. While developers should properly handle the use case where someone has JavaScript disabled, many don't, either because they don't want to spend a bunch of time coding for what probably amounts to 0.1% of their users (most of whom will allow JavaScript on pages they trust), they simply forgot to handle it, or their site would be impossible without it.
I'm not familiar enough with NoScript to walk you through it, but what you need to do is add exceptions for the sites that aren't working properly. Try their [http://noscript.net/faq FAQ ]or [http://forums.informaction.com/viewforum.php?f=3 forum].
Again, this problem almost definitely has nothing to do with Firefox itself--you should get in touch with the owners of the sites in question, or with the NoScript folks.

  • Why won't Firefox save my passwords?

Recently, I ran System Mechanic to clear out personal information. It wiped out all my saved passwords in Firefox. Now Firefox doesn't ask me whether to save passwords. I really miss this feature. I've tried to follow the Help" info and everything is set as it should be. Am I missing something?

Be careful with usung such software to cleanup stuf.
It is probably best to create a new profile if you do not know what went wrong or can't undo those changes.
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile:
You can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files

  • Why won't Firefox open an site in a new tab when clicked on in Google?

When I was in Google and would click on a site to open, it would open in the tab I was on rather than opening in a new tab. It used to do so.
So if I go to the site and it's not the one that answers my question, rather than clicking on the back button, I have to go back and click on my Google Bookmark.
It's annoying because everytime you open Google, you get a different set of sites to access.
Today, the word I was Googling was kfeeders.

Thanks but perhaps I didn't explain the problem well.
I was on the Google page, and put in the item I was searching for, clicked search and got a page or many pages of potential sites that would fit my query. But if I clicked on one of the sites, I couldn't click back to the Google page, the back arrow was gray. It doesn't happen all the time, only occasionally. Guess it's just a problem with some sites.

  • Why does every site, even Mozilla's, detect my Firefox as an old version when I have the up to date version?

My Firefox is updated, I have the 7.0.1. version, when I open Tools and click about Firefox it shows me just that, the 7.0.1. version. But every time I navigate to a website that offers download for it, I get the message I need to update. Even here, at Firefox help, the site warns me: '''''Warning: Firefox 3.6 will only be maintained with security and stability updates for a short period of time. Please update to the latest version of Firefox.'''''
Also if I want to install an add-on, I can't because 'it's not available for 3.6'
I uninstalled it and installed it again, no use. What could be the problem?

Your UserAgent string in Firefox is messed up by another program that you installed.
type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter <br />
''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.'' <br />
    Filter = '''general.useragent.extra.firefox''' <br />
Right-click that preference and select '''Reset''' <br />
    Then restart Firefox

  • How do I get rid of the notice that I need to update, when Firefox then tells me I have the latest version when I click the link to get the update?

This notice has been on the page under the Google box for the last few days. There is a link to click on to update. The next page says that I'm up to date but suggests downloading Android or offers a download of Firefox if I'd like one.

Thanks for the help. It's undoubtedly my error in not saying I'm a Mac user up front. I got there & chose return to default. Turns out that's where I have been all along. It's the Mozilla Firefox Start Page. But it includes this silly notice that I don't have the latest version of Firefox! Seems to me there's a bug (or whatever, I'm not real techy) in the basic design of the Firefox home page. Maybe it hasn't been updated for users of Lion?

  • Firefox 3.6.3 closes the first window when I close the 2nd window

Firefox 3.6.3 seems so buggy. When I have 2 windows open and I close the 2nd one, the first one also closes. When I open a new window, it sometimes shows up minimized in the top left corner.

  • I am upgraded to Firefox 6.0.2. i am still seeing the old version when i am logged in as an ordinary user the help ta says apply update(verrsion is 6.0.2) but if i press that it just restarts but the problem remains.

when i log into adminstrator account on my computer the browser is new.
the upgraded version 6.0.2 works well only when logged in the adminstrator mode.

Try to run the Firefox program once as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator) for that user.
If files already have been downloaded then you need to remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.<br />
You can delete active-update.xml and maybe updates.xml as well if present.
    C:\Users\&lt;user&gt;\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates
    (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox)
