Why won't Firefox open a second tab after upgrading to version 30?

I run Windows 7 Pro. Up until the latest auto update I could clcik the plus sign on the tab and open new tabs. Won't work now. Please advise.

I'm confirming that after trying several other ideas, the steps outlined here by S.E.A. and Amelia P. worked perfectly. For those of you having problems with certain songs not playing, or the wrong song playing, follow their "unsynch" "resynch" process. A few notes:
Before starting, I was confident that iOS 5, iTunes 10.5, and Mac OS X 10.7.2 were all up-to-date and functioning correctly.
After selecting my Device in iTunes (an iPhone 4S in my case), then selecting the "Music" tab and unchecking "Sync Music", be sure that it actually Applies the new settings (force a synch to be sure).
After this step, most of the songs disappeared from my device (including all of the corrupted ones) but not all songs (perhaps it left those that I purchased directly on the device?). In any case, don't worry about these. Just re-check the boxes you unchecked and then be sure to force a synch again. It should take a while to complete if you've got a lot of music.

why can't I open my numbers docs after upgrade to 3.0? I have downloaded Maverick. I had the same problem with Pages at first. Is there any way to get my spreadsheets back? I'm nervous about upgrades anymore.

If you recently updated to Mavericks and updated the Numbers to 3.0 then it is likely you are trying to open a Numbers 3.0 file with Numbers 2.3.

Be sure you are careful about which version you are launching and using to open files. If you want to be able to open a file in Numbers 2.3 then you should continue using Numbers 2.3 (which is located in the folder "/Applications/iWork '09")
If you already opened a Numbers file in 3.0 and saved if but want to open in 2.3 you can export from Numbers 3.0 by using the menu item "File > Export To > Numbers '09..."

If I click a link, it will open a new tab fine on it's own, but if I click the new tab, nothing happens.

Why won't Firefox open an site in a new tab when clicked on in Google?

When I was in Google and would click on a site to open, it would open in the tab I was on rather than opening in a new tab. It used to do so.
So if I go to the site and it's not the one that answers my question, rather than clicking on the back button, I have to go back and click on my Google Bookmark.
It's annoying because everytime you open Google, you get a different set of sites to access.
Today, the word I was Googling was kfeeders.

I was on the Google page, and put in the item I was searching for, clicked search and got a page or many pages of potential sites that would fit my query. But if I clicked on one of the sites, I couldn't click back to the Google page, the back arrow was gray. It doesn't happen all the time, only occasionally. Guess it's just a problem with some sites.

If so, there are 2 possible problems.

Why won't Firefox open?!

Winglass XP is not letting me open Firefox. I click on it but nothing is actually popping up. I even used the Run command and nothing happens. It always closes whenever I try to open it. Please help!

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. i figured out how to fix this problem on my own, go to http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1743954&tstart=0, follow the directions in the order they appear, for me uninstalling 8.0.1 and reinstalling 7.7.1 worked for me, and personally i like it better, and i shouldn't have upgraded.
no restart is necessary between disk verifications and repairs, and if you can't empty your trash with 8.0.1 in it, just disk repair again and it will automatically delete itself, at least that's what happened on my iMac, i never had this issue on my PowerBook, so there you, it pays not to wait on Apple support.

Why won't firefox open a hot link in a new tab? I have selected the setting that is supposed to do this, but Firefox insists upon opening a new window, every time! It's annoying as hell.

OK...ummmm, I'm running Mac OS10.4.11 (not so sure about the last two digits, but you get the idea). Why won't Firefox open my e-mail page, after clicking the tab, from a Comcast preview page?

I have Comcast.net. From my home page, when I click the email button, first, I must sign-in and then a preview page appears with a short list of emails. When I click the tab to open the entire email page, the entire page does not open as it should. When I click each email on the preview page, each email will not open, as it should, either. This all worked, previously, but stopped working about 3 days ago.

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

When I download a Word file from a classroom management database, why won't Firefox open the file without me having to save it?

I have been using Firefox for many years with Blackboard products. In the last six months or so, when I try to download a student's file that is a Word .docx, it won't let me open it without saving it. Word .doc files work fine. I don't have this problem with Internet Explorer, but of course IE is clunky, slow, and doesn't fill in forms. Any help would be appreciated. Let me know if I can supply more details.

Two possible problems. 
1. BlackBoard never supports the latest version of Firefox, for a few reasons. Some schools don't run the latest version of BlackBoard Vista or Campus Edition. Also, BlackBoard upgrades seem to be tied to the "school year" cycle, the changes they make to improve and update their software seem to be rolled out for the fall term so that changes aren't being made during the normal "school year" and possibly causing problems for the schools. That also may be a function of their contract / payment cycles with the schools that use their programs.

Select the link for the version of WebCT Vista or Campus Edition ''(version info is usually at the bottom of each page, in the footer)'' that your school is using, then see which version of Firefox is compatible.
Depending upon which version of WebCT your school is using, you will have to use Firefox 3.6.x, Firefox 3.5.x, or Firefox 3.0.x when accessing the Blackboard site.
My advice is to install the Firefox Portable version that you need for Blackboard on your computer, and use that installation only for Blackboard. Continue to use 4.0.1 for all other web browsing.

2. Firefox uses a Plugin ( you have Office Plugin for Netscape Navigator installed) to open files that aren't "internet files", like word processing documents. 
I can't help you directly with Office, as I use Open Office, but there should be a preference for that Plugin within your Office preferences or options under something like Internet, to have those files '''Display documents in browser'''.

Why won't firefox open up again after i completly close it?

When I close completely out of Firefox, then later try re-opening it, it won't open. It acts like it wants to open but will not. The only other way to use Firefox after closing out of it, is by shutting my computer down completely. How else can this be fix? When i go to update Firefox, it says that the program is in use and cannot update till i close out of it, but I already closed out of Firefox... Whats going on? Every time I try and open firefox, a prompt box opens asking me if I want to let firefox make changes to my harddrive. How do I make this stop? How can I make it so that I don't need to verify every time?

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.
You also need to check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.
