Why won't firefox open i have windows 7 and it says imcompatible

I cannot get firefox to open after download! It opened once in minimized window but my troubleshooter is saying it is incompatible - I have an hp 500 with windows 7! I have changed setttings to allow older versions of windows etc. reloaded everything. then a pop up error something about javascript and some illegible words with the word root and objest error

I am going by my gut feeling - could be an Adobe Flash problem-

Winglass XP is not letting me open Firefox. I click on it but nothing is actually popping up. I even used the Run command and nothing happens. It always closes whenever I try to open it. Please help!

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. Why won't firefox open? It starts then hangs around 7300k

I try to start firefox it doesn't. I check the task mgr and it show the process as open but usually stuck at around 7,300k or 1,800k. It will not start in safe mode or with extension off command either. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, run McGlary and SPybot but nothing has changed. It still wont start. About a week ago i ran McGlary and then firefox actaully started, once! But has since gone back to not starting.

Am using Windows 8. Installed Firefox, but am unable to get a response when I click on a link or try to launch a video. Works fine on my desktop, but not on my new laptop. Firefox opens a new window and moves the active tab to it. How do I stop this?

Got multiple tabs open. Firefox suddenly closes the tab I'm working on (this seems to happen when I'm scrolling) and moves it to a new window, shifting the focus to a previously inactive tab. What a swell feature! How can I get rid of it?

Firefox 3.5/6 versions have a feature called tear-off tabs.
You can detach a tab from the current window and open it in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.
You can drag that tab back to the tab bar in the original window to undo that detaching.

Why won't firefox delete my history searches and cookies and cahce when I click clear history?

There's a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle and it says "All items selected will be cleared. This action cannot be undone" when I try deleting everything in the clear history tab.

Why won't firefox open a hot link in a new tab? I have selected the setting that is supposed to do this, but Firefox insists upon opening a new window, every time! It's annoying as hell.

OK...ummmm, I'm running Mac OS10.4.11 (not so sure about the last two digits, but you get the idea). Why won't Firefox open Foxit Reader in its own window?

When browsing with Frefox, I used to be able to click on a PDF link and have Foxit Reader open the file in a separate (Foxit) window. Now no matter what I do, the PDF opens within Firefox in what I suppose is a Firefox PDF reader.

When I download a Word file from a classroom management database, why won't Firefox open the file without me having to save it?

I have been using Firefox for many years with Blackboard products. In the last six months or so, when I try to download a student's file that is a Word .docx, it won't let me open it without saving it. Word .doc files work fine. I don't have this problem with Internet Explorer, but of course IE is clunky, slow, and doesn't fill in forms. Any help would be appreciated. Let me know if I can supply more details.

Two possible problems. 
1. BlackBoard never supports the latest version of Firefox, for a few reasons. Some schools don't run the latest version of BlackBoard Vista or Campus Edition. Also, BlackBoard upgrades seem to be tied to the "school year" cycle, the changes they make to improve and update their software seem to be rolled out for the fall term so that changes aren't being made during the normal "school year" and possibly causing problems for the schools. That also may be a function of their contract / payment cycles with the schools that use their programs.

Select the link for the version of WebCT Vista or Campus Edition ''(version info is usually at the bottom of each page, in the footer)'' that your school is using, then see which version of Firefox is compatible.
Depending upon which version of WebCT your school is using, you will have to use Firefox 3.6.x, Firefox 3.5.x, or Firefox 3.0.x when accessing the Blackboard site.
My advice is to install the Firefox Portable version that you need for Blackboard on your computer, and use that installation only for Blackboard. Continue to use 4.0.1 for all other web browsing.

2. Firefox uses a Plugin ( you have Office Plugin for Netscape Navigator installed) to open files that aren't "internet files", like word processing documents. 
I can't help you directly with Office, as I use Open Office, but there should be a preference for that Plugin within your Office preferences or options under something like Internet, to have those files '''Display documents in browser'''.

Why won't firefox open up again after i completly close it?

When I close completely out of Firefox, then later try re-opening it, it won't open. It acts like it wants to open but will not. The only other way to use Firefox after closing out of it, is by shutting my computer down completely. How else can this be fix? When i go to update Firefox, it says that the program is in use and cannot update till i close out of it, but I already closed out of Firefox... Whats going on? Why won't Firefox open my e-mail page, after clicking the tab, from a Comcast preview page?

I have Comcast.net. From my home page, when I click the email button, first, I must sign-in and then a preview page appears with a short list of emails. When I click the tab to open the entire email page, the entire page does not open as it should. When I click each email on the preview page, each email will not open, as it should, either. This all worked, previously, but stopped working about 3 days ago.
