Why won't Firefox play mp4 from my website using xplornet satellite?

I can play mp4's on my website using Firefox and dial in. When I try and use xplornet sattellite it doesn't see them .It will open wmv. If I use Explorer and teh satellite I can play them. Many people with different operating systems and browsers can play them.
What do I have to add, change or do for Firefox to play mp4 from my website? We have loaded the latest Firefox and it still doesn't work. It ha sto do with the satellite and Firefox. We must be missing some plug in, add on or something else.

I think the problem is your OS. Firefox supports playback of H264 encoded video (mp4) but only where the ability to decode the stream is already included in the Operating System or in the hardware.
This means that it will work for Windows Vista and above but not for XP since XP doesn't include the decoder.

If you have control over the site then I suggest using a different Video format which is not patent encumbered. The webm format is one option:

Why won't FIREFOX save my HISTORY settings of USE CUSTOM settings?!!!

I go to firefox settings and find ONCE AGAIN my History preferences will NOT save "USE CUSTOM SETTINGS".
I have to change it every time. I have both 32 bit and 64 bit Nightly (beta) versions on my computer.
I have totally removed both, restarted windows 7, restarted it again, re-installed fire fox and it STILL happens...
Why? I will be darned if I will use explorer, but at least it SAVES the settings and doesn't get them screwed up!

OK so I agree I was confused. What is confusing me even more is the number of times sites tell me I need to set my cookie settings to accept when as far as I can see it already is.

just upgraded to windows 7 as well as the latest version of firefox. Flash movie sites such as youtube play without difficulty. It is only sites such as http://www.liveduvalstreet.com/crowdcam.htm that do not work. before these sites worked without difficulty.

Thanks for the response. That did indeed solve the problem. Figured it out about an hour after posting. Interestingly it works fine on my wifes computer (vista64) without the wmp plug in.

Why won't Firefox 7 stay on a website?

When I go to a website, the page loads normally and seems to work for about 3-5 seconds. Then Firefox goes into connection mode--I don't know what it is trying to connect to. It can't find the page its looking for and I get redirected to a 404 error page with a list of websites. My homepage doesn't do this.

I've been having problems with firefox losing the internet and permanently connecting, so from the help system I learned to change http.network.max-connections from 256 max to 48 max. This solved the firefox freezing problem, but this web page jumping problem started about 12 hours later. I changed the http max-connections from 48 to 32, but the problem remains. Why won't FireFox open local .html files (when using "open file")?

I teach hand coding and use FireFox to grade my students work. I also tell them to use this browser to review their own work. If they cannot navigate to their files on their desktop I will have to switch to another browser. I know it is something from the latest version... as I have been using FireFox for the last 5 years as my classroom browser of choice.

A third option would be simply to click on the relevant HTML file and use the option to open, or open with Firefox. Such files may also be bookmarked.

Why can't I play videos from this website?

My home page is www.cincinnati.com and on it they embed video clips. (I think embed is the right word.) When I click on them, a new page opens but with no video. I've tested Java, QuickTime, Flash and all are working according to their respective tests on their websites.

If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extension) like Adblock Plus or NoScript or Flash Block that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Thank you for your detailed question. It sounds like the real issue is pdf files. Are there any antivirus/firewalls that might be blocking this specific file type? or are there any preferences in your control panel that might be blocking this?
Do you have any stored preferences for PDF files in Firefox?

Why won't firefox search?

Why won't firefox search when I type anything into the search bar? It lists everything I've typed in before but when you click search it just sits there doing nothing. If I use the search bar in the top right corner it searches just fine, but nothing from the central search line.
Also what is the line below this for? if I mouse over it I get a pointy finger, but it is blank and remains blank.

If you can't clear that saved form and search history then there may be nothing to clear.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Back up all data.
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):

In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

Thanks .Ralph. The problem is only on the iPad 2only. I have an iPad 1 as well and it never had the problem. The only videos that I have tried are you tube and the tutorials on apple.com. I have absolutely no problem on either of my laptops or desktop PC's. Only the iPad 2. I am a new Apple user, so not very familiar yet with the product, but this is an absolute deal breaker for me. With Apple's reputation I was not expecting any such problems and it is beyond my skill set to solve it. Very frustrating. Again, no problem with you tube videos. I don't watch movies, so am not a Netflix member and haven't tried that yet, only you tube videos and apple.com tutorial videos. I have to watch those on my laptop. Again, I found a fix to the you tube problem. It was a link to a site. www.youtube/html5. html5 video player trial that you click on and once done, the videos on the you tube app started working great. They were doing the same thing as the tutorial videos prior to that. No such luck with the other web videos, at least the ones that i have tried. Hope this is enough info and understandable. You might check out the html5 site. I didn't thoroughly understand why, but it worked. You may understand it better. I am a proficient user, but far from an I.t. Pro. I have read Many posts with similar problems, but no simple solutions and the ones I did try didn't work. Speed tested well. Channel is set to auto and always different than neighboring networks, usually channel 11. Tried disabling QOS as suggested....no good. I am completely stumped. Any help is greatly appreciated. URL address bar and Google search field are combined together in Safari 6.
Apple calls it Smart Search field.
There is no way to separate them.

A computer USB port does not provide enough power to charge and run the iPad at the same time but it will charge it if the iPad is turned off. It will take about four times as long to charge than with the iPad charger.
The Contacts icon may be inside a folder, such as Utilities.
There is no Facetime icon. Start a Facetime link from a contact.

Why won't firefox close

Why won't Firefox close properly? When I close the program and then try and restart it, I get an error message which says "Firefox is already open....." I then have to go into the Task Manager to close it down.
How can I fix this problem?
