Why won't iPhoto open fully?

When I click on the icon in the Dock, I get a dialogue but not the option ot open it. The programme still seems to me in my Applications folder but I can't open it from there.

Remebmer what they say:  it's always about location, location, location.

  • Why won't iPhoto open?

I've just tried to open iPhoto (5.0.4), the version that came with OS X and the only version I've got. iPhoto won't open.
A dialogue box says: "You can't open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto."
The problem is I don't have another version of iPhoto. And I'm not aware of having made any changes with another, newer, version. What should I do?
BTW, I don't want an upgrade... If the only way I can access my iPhoto folders, albums, files and slideshows is to pay for an upgrade simply because I may have (unknowingly) added images that someone else had in a newer version, then the whole thing smells like a scam...
I hope there are other options...

It's not a scam, and guess what, even upgrading will not solve this issue. You have to fix this problem first.
iPhoto is an excellent app, but sometimes it gives misleading error messages. Your database file has been damaged - by a crash, perhaps? - and when the app tries to open it all it sees is a database file it doesn't recognise. It then gives this message.

Or, you can restore your back up.

  • Why won't iphoto open a short movie?

I used to be able to just double click on a short movie made with my digital camera, but now, nothing. Quicktime is not opening any movies for me.  Can anyone help?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.

  • Why won't iPhoto 11 in Mavericks open or create books, cards, etc?

Why won't iPhoto 11 in Mavericks open or create books, cards, etc? I can't open existing projects or create new ones. Nothing happens when I try to open a project: alsop, nothing happens when I click 'Create' when trying a make a card, book, etc. All very frustrating.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Post back with the result.

I am trying to open files in Camera raw from Bridge but get the following message.
"Bridge's parent application is not active."
Both Bridge and CS5 are open and I have opened camera raw previously.
    Any suggestions.

The video shows replacing a current DLL file with one from last year - the key issue being that the files found in the Bridge and Photoshop folders are DIFFERENT. Why would this be?  I checked a PS CS5.1 installation myself and the files are already the same. Is there an illegitimate copy of Photoshop being used or something, causing these files to differ? -Noel

  • Why won't files open or save in email

I have been trying to open some important files that were emailed and they won't open.  I am getting the blue and white pop up asking if I want to open or save and it won't let me do either.  It did this the other day and somehow I finally got it open after shutting down the computer.  Tried that this time and it won't work.  Tried uninstalling and reinstalling adobe.  It did not work.  There is also an online website I use to complete and upload PDF file documents and it won't work either.  What has happened?  How do I fix?

  • Why won't files open in the space that the application is assigned to?

I have applications assigned to specific spaces, however, if I am in space 2 and I click to open an Adobe Illustrator (assiged to space 3) file, spaces will send me to space 3 but the file window will open in space 2 (where I was). I have to use F8 to view the spaces and drag it over to the assigend sapce. If i try to work on it in spaces 2 (where it opened) my pallets are blank. Any ideas?

  • Why won't iPhoto download after i have bought it from the app store and installed mavericks

why won't iPhoto download after i have bought it from the app store and installed mavericks?

Sorry no mind readers here so you have to tell us details, context and any error messages - just stating an abstract problem that could have thousands of causes is not enough
What version of iPhoto? Of the OS? what has changed since it worked? How are you trying to open it (clicking on the icon in the Dock, double clicking on the application in the applications folder, ???)?
Anything else you can tell a total stranger who can not see you or your computer to let them assist you?

Why won't Adobe open a Pdf? Why do I pay for a service that will not open a pdf?

Maybe you could supply us with more details about what exactly you are doing, how you are doing and what you are using to do it.
The reason I say this is because you are in the forum for Adobe Reader which is a FREE application and not a service.

  • Why won't the program fully open?

I bought Adobe Premiere Elements 8 a while ago but have lacked a computer that could handle it properly. I recently bought a powerful laptop so I installed Premiere Elements 8 right away, hoping to edit some videos. Unfortunately for some reason it can't open fully. I will choose a name and destination to save the project but when I try to actually work with the program it freezes on me, not telling me what is wrong.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to the same result. What can I try?

How much free, clean, freshly defragmented space is on your C drive? Brand new computers can be a mess of fragmentation and temp files. First, ensure you have at least 20-30 gigs of free space. Then run this free program to clean things off:
    http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.html
    Then defragment your drive.
Also, manually go to Windows Update and ensure you have even the non-critical updates. And go to Apple.com and ensure you have the latest version of Quicktime per the program's requirements.
If it still won't open, please provide us more information about your computer including your operating system, your processor speed and your RAM load.
