Why won't iTunes 10.7 work with my iMac OS X?

I can't get my iPhone or my Ipad to sync with my iMac. I am running OS X. It won't accept the new version of iTunes

Devices purchased recently will require iTunes 10.7. check the side of the box for exact system requirements (if it says iTunes 11 it should work with iTunes 10.7). iTunes 10.7 requires OSX 10.6.8 or higher which in turn requires an Intel Mac.
1) Make sure your computer meets Snow Leopard technical specifications - http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575 This mostly means making sure it is an Intel Mac and has at least 1GB RAM (at least 2 GB is recommended). Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac". Does it mention "PowerPC" (not Intel), or Intel? To check RAM continue to "More Info...". It should say you have at least 1GB of "memory".
2) Buy a Snow Leopard disc from Apple online

Alternatively you can buy from online retailers but anticipate paying much more than the original price which is the price still charged by Apple
3) Backing up your computer before upgrading is always a good idea.
4) After installing from the DVD, update your Snow Leopard installation using Software Update or manually downloading and installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v.1.1 - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
If the above does not seem to apply then you need to post back with complete information this time as to exact model computer (iMac is not enough since there's like 30 models), system software version, exact model information of the devices, iOS version running on each device.

if you can do that from your macbook pro as in access the shared lib of the imac
then the problem is with the appletv somehow
if you also can't access the shared lib of the imac from the macbook then you setup something wrong
or have a firewall blocking it or are not on the same network with the 2 devices
if the later when you fix the shared lib between computers chances are if will also be fixed from the appletv

Why won't my airport express work with the latest iTunes, the airport shows green but there is no icon in iTunes any longer, what has gone wrong, desperate!!

Airport Express used to work with iTunes v11 but now with v12 there is no sign of the little icon that used to appear over the volume button. The Airport is finding the network, nothing has changed bar the version of iTunes, what should I do??

A friend has helped me solve this problem, in my case it was nothing to do with Windows firewalls as some have suggested but it was simply a matter of resetting both the router and the Airport, the Airport is fairly obvious but not the router at least this was the first time I recall HAVING to reset it.

Why won't my epson scanner work with Mountian Lion?

Since I loaded Mountain Lion, my Epson perfection 4490 Photo scanner won't load. It keeps saying "can't open application cuz PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I downloaded a new driver from Epson and did a software update and restarted my computer but it still won't connect to the scanner. What am I missing? Should I uninstall my epson scanner and then reinstall? Help!

Part 1 - the driver. If you already had an Epson driver & software installed before you upgraded to Mt. Lion, then yes you should uninstall the Epson software. Epson provides a utility to do this on their support website. After uninstalling the old driver & software, follow the Epson instructions for installing their ICA Scanner Driver, which basically involves connecting your 4490 to your Mac and then running Software Update. This driver needs to be installed for almost any scanning app to work with your 4490 on Mt. Lion, including Image Capture and Vuescan
Part 2 - the scanner software. Epson discontinued the Epson Scan Utility when Lion was introduced. It is only supported on versions of OS X up to Snow Leopard. If you want the functionality of Epson Scan on Lion or Mt. Lion then you need to get Vuescan, SilverFast or similar scanner software. I highly recommend Vuescan ... have used it for many years on almost every version of OS X and a bunch of different scanners including my own Epson Perfection 4490.

Why won't H-P SmartWebPrinting work with FireFox 3.6.3

I downloaded H-P SmartWebPrinting to my Vista system and it installed ok, but, a note comes up saying it will not work with FireFox 3.6.3 !! However , it did install automaticly on InternetExplorer.... However, I use FireFox as my default browser !! Is there a newer, superduper, version of FireFox I need to download or whats the story??

Why won't my iSight webcam work with iChat?

I have an iSight webcam and a Power Mac G5. I can't get the iSight to work with iChat, but it works with Yahoo Messenger, although the image is choppy. I have cable internet access, and I am connected to a wireless router (though not wirelessly, but with an ethernet cable). Is the router somehow interfering with iChat and the iSight camera?

Why won't my airport express work with sky router

Im not sure if its possible but i am trying to connect my Airport Express to my Sky (G) router so i have a better wifi signal in the bedroom the other side of my house, will sky routers not actually work with anything not supplied by Sky or is this rubbish? Any help would be great please?

A Sky Support Forum could probably best answer that question.
We can say that the AirPort Express can only "extend a wireless network" using wireless only provided that the "main" network is being produced by an Apple router. As far as we know, the Express is not compatible for this purpose with routers from other manufacturers.

Why doesn't "safe mode" startup work with my iMac G5

I wanted to start up in "safe mode" but could get no further than the revolving gears under the Apple logo. My procedure: I pushed the power button, and as soon as I heard the startup chime I depressed the shift key on my keyboard and held it down. Instead of getting a blue screen I got nothing but the continuously revolving gears. Releasing the shift key at that point didn't do anything. I held the power button until the computer shut down and then restarted, this time without depressing the shift key. This resulted in a successful startup. But why couldn't I start in safe mode?

How long did you wait for? Safe Mode startups can take quite a while because the process checks and repairs the directories. See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107394
Think about how long it can take to run DiskUtility to run "repair Disk" when booted from your OS DVD, especially if there are any problems or you have a lot of files on the disk. The process is essentially the same. It could easily take ten minutes or more in some circumstances if it has to do any repair work.
If you are confident that you waited long enough, then make sure that you have all peripherals except for your keyboard and mouse disconnected. They may be interfering with the boot process when their drivers are not present.
(You can release the "Shift" key as soon as the gears appear)

Why won't my bluetooth connection work with the new sofware when it comes to my ITunes?

After I installed the software, my phone will connect to the bluetooth (so the phone and such work and the music) but I can no longer control my music from the radio and see the song that is up (scroll on screen). I have checked all the settings, but they are good. So it has to be the software.

There is an alternative downloader for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the most of the playback issues - including problems with Bluetooth devices - that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version (the alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer). The "for older video cards" label appears to be something of a misnomer as some people have reported that this corrects problems found on current / high-spec systems.
Some users have reported that after installing this alternative version it is necessary to adjust the "Play audio using" selection (normally to "Direct Sound" rather than "Windows Audio Session", though this may vary based on your audio hardware/drivers) in Edit > Preferences > Playback to restore glitch-free audio (one part of the reported symptoms is that the "Direct Sound" choice isn't available, usually in Windows 8).
Another possible remedy relates to a potential clash between the 64-bit version of iTunes 12 and Google Chrome; some users have reported that uninstalling Chrome (not just not having it running) resolves the iTunes playback issues without having to install the alternative version referred to above.

Why won't my USB mic work with Facetime?

I use a headset for chatting on my Macbook Pro because the audio quality is better than the stock speakers and built in mic. For some reason today when I'm using Facetime, its only receiving audio input through the built in mic on the laptop. The computer is detecting that there is another mic connected, and it works fine when using Skype or Ventrilo, but won't use it for Facetime. The output works fine. I can still hear everything through my headset, it just won't use my headset mic. It was working correctly with my headset mic last night, and after restarting my computer this afternoon, this problem started. Anyone have any ideas?

Why won't iTunes 11 play well with my printer.

I made the mistake of downloading 11 before reading feedback. I will not do that before 11.0.1. Has anybody tried this update? Have they brought the old search feature back...unless there is some way to set it back to the way it previously worked and I just haven't figured it out yet.
In addition to the loss of ease in manipulating and searching for my music, I'm having problems with iTunes communicating with my printer.
Is this unique or typical for the update? It always played well with my printer before!
Since the 11 update, my laptop crashes while waiting to print or it prints with all items of the playlist printed on top of each other in a big sploch, rendering it unreadable.
Any solutions???.

My Apple history dates back to a, then current, Mac+ and I currently do embedded [Android] fw development... so this is more of a bug report than flailing user.

Why won't my face time work with iOS 6 in the UAE?

I have a 4s and had Facetime working just fine connecting back to the States until I upgraded to the iOS 6 yesterday. Now, it won't connect. I live in the UAE but bought the phone in the US and have a US number on it. Here's the weird twist, FaceTime works if I call my husband..who is sitting in the same room with me. It just won't work to call home anymore. He also upgraded and his phone is originally from the US. Seems like the upgrade to 6 is what screwed us. Any suggestions?
