Error msg says iPhone requires Mac OS X 10.5.8.
Rebooted mac and iPhone switched off and on, still the same error.

One other step I've tried was removing and completely reinstalling the playlist to the iPod. That cleared up the problem for about two days.

just got delivery of my ipad air but it won't sync with my windows 7 pc. really frustrating. suspect something to do with itune 11 as since i updated that i also can't airpaly around the house on apple tv and airport. have emailed apple direct but no response? is itune 11 just crap and do i need to sever my relationship?

Mirrored RAID for primary storage is a method of extending Mean Time To Repair, which tends to keep a drive failure from becoming a data loss disaster. It provides no protection against accidental deletion of files, and no protection against "crazy software" that wipes out files or an entire directory. If you are using Mirrored RAID for Primary storage (as I do on my home Server) you still need a backup.
Using a Mirrored RAID for a [secondary storage] backup is inefficient. You would be better served by using the two drives to make two different backups either at different times, or better still different types, such as one Time Machine and one cloned backup.
If your data are especially difficult to reconstruct, taking a complete backup set off site protects against local disaster -- a whole house or office burning, a flood, an earthquake.

Why won't address book close (or sync with ipod)

When I open address book to edit or add contacts, it will not close. The spinning wheel appears and then I have to force quit. I have also found that my ipod video will no longer sync with address book. It asks me to open the contact list whenever I try.
I tried deleting all my cards and reentering the information, but that has not helped. There is something wrong with the address app itself.
I used to have a palm device set up, but I have removed it and all palm files.

BUT...This is no the way that is supposed to work.
I have to modify 300+ years! and it took me 5 min to convince AddressBook that I write fast enough to change the year
Besides, this is Apple. It's supposed to be user friendly.

ITunes album metadata not syncing with iPhone

I purchased an album from the iTunes store, which is actually 3 albums in 1.
Once downloaded, I set about changing the metadata so that the albums appear as 3 seperate albums under the one artist. All good - until I sync with my iPhone, when (on the iPhone) the metadata reverts to the original iTunes Store metadata and back to 1 album with all the tracks from the 3 albums out of chronological order ie. track 1, 1, 1, track 2, 2, 2 etc...! Grrrr
Have deleted ALL unecessary metadata fields on all tracks, just leaving the genre, the artist name, each album name and turned off any 'compilation' options. No joy and still shows as 1 album on my iPhone.
Any solutions???

Much of my music in itunes has disappeared since syncing with iphone 4s?

I'm not sure what is going on, but most of my music in itunes seems to have disappeared since syncing with my new iphone4s.
I just noticed this when trying to look for a ringtone to put on my phone. I haven't put any music or anything like that onto my phone yet.
What is going on? Can I get this back? I still have the music on an ipod. most of the music I uploaded from cd to itune.

This is not sounding like an iTunes Match issue - worth trying the iPhone forum and/or the iTunes for Windows/Mac forum.
Usually in synchronisation, pending settings the library will adjust Songs on the device - it is not normal for connect to a device to alter Songs in a library unless to add - for example, addition of Songs purchase on the device.
Would recommend - creating a second library, importing Songs from iPod and making a secure backup - from here you can use this resource to correct your original library, once the issue with your iPhone has been resolved.

ITunes 8 freezes while syncing with iPhone 3G

I am disappointed with iTunes 8 as it freezes when it is syncing with iPhone3G (2.1). I noticed that the phenomenon regularly occurs when certain music files and/or podcast files are being transferred. As a result, I cannot copy all the music/podcast files to my iPhone. This started immediately after upgrading to iTunes 8.
I wonder if this is related to Japanese OS (Windows XP, SP3) as I am aware that some other Japanese also have similar (probably identical) problems according to a discussion board on the internet.
Any suggestions and comments are welcomed.

I have an iPhone 3g 2.1 + OS x 10.5.5 and itunes 8.0.1.
While syncing:
The backup routine takes forever, but completes eventually.
Then it tries to sync applications, notably Texas "HoldEm" game. At this point iTunes is unresponsive.
To get everything going again, I have to quit iTunes, and restart the iPhone. Then I can try again, but it fails again at the same point.

Why won't all of my ringtones sync with the new software?

I have recently updated my iphone 4 with the new iOS 5.0.1 software. I noticed when I downloaded the iOS 5.0 software not all of my ringtones would sync to my phone. I hoped when I downloaded iOS 5.0.1 the problem would correct itself, but it has not. HELP!

Click on your devices name on the left hand side of iTunes. This will take you to a summary page
go to the ringtones tab
take the checkmark out from next to sync ringtones
click apply to preform a sync
recheck sync ringtones and apply
ringtones should come over to your phone

One thing that you can do in general to help overall performance is upgrade your RAM. The late 2006 iMacs should be able to take up to 3GB of RAM(some people install 4GB anyway) but even going up to 2GB should help your system a lot. The Free Agent drives are USB only so for one thing USB will be slower than your internal drive by at least half, however it still shouldn't take 10-15 seconds to access unless something else is going on. What version of iTunes do you have? Did you try Repairing the Disk Permissions and Verifying your internal drive? Yes. The internal drive inside your iMac has read/write speeds somewhere between 55-65MB/sec while your USB will max out at about 30MB/sec. This may not fix your problem but just as recommendation, next time purchase an external drive that has a Firewire connection. Firewire 400 maxes out at about 40MB/sec but overall performance is usually better than USB 2.0.

Why won't my new Touch not sync with my 2012 Volvo?

I bought an iPod Touch to use in my 2012 Volvo XC70. The iPod is not recognized at all using the headphone jack to port on the car ( this approach works fine on my older Saab 9-3). Using the car's USB port and the Apple cable, I get a message that the car cannot connect to this iPod. Looking on forums I see this issue has been kicking around for 4 years, and is not limited to Volvo. What's up, and what is the fix? The iPod goes back if the answer is something like upgrade the car's software.

"Bye bye iPod!" Sorry... Unless you can update the software to recognize your iPod your somewhat limited.Try contacting Volvo about upgrading the car sound system, if you haven't already done that. Or try maybe a third party interface or module so you can bridge the new iPod's software with your 2012 Volvo. I would start with a company like Crutchfield's or talk with people that install radios / sound systems, they must have hit this problem at some point, may have an answer or solution for you. Itunes crashing and not syncing with iphone

i have recently updated both my itunes (windows) and my iphone (3GS) with the 10. and 5. versions. since then itunes keeps crashing and only part syncing the music files. Apps are fine, texts, calls, internet, camera etc it's just the music. has anyone had the same problems?

I Am having problems syncing and now, after the final solution of resetting, of accessing my music. When I try syncing again, iTunes tells me it can't sync because I am over capacity (which I am not).
What is going on? Was working perfectly up to this weekend, now the whole package has gone out the window.
