Why won't iTunes automatically open when I connect my iPhone 6
iTunes is set to open when I connect my phone but will not do so. I have to physically go to the program and open it each time I connect my phone. This also happens when I connect my iPad mini. This began when I upgraded to the iPhone 6. Before upgrading I did not have this problem.

Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically
Prevent devices from automatically syncing with this iTunes library when a device is connected. To sync a device, click the Sync button when the device is connected.

I wrote an AppleScript that asks me each time I connect the iPhone/camera/etc whether or not I want to open iPhoto. Usually I just hit return and it doesn't open, but once in a while I'll click Yes to open iPhoto and import videos from my phone. I just did it because it's nice to have a little reminder so I don't go for too too long without importing, but not have it slow things down each time I plug in.
Below is the script. Paste it into AppleScript Editor, then export it as an application. Then set Image Capture to open this app when you plug in your phone. Would love to hear if it's helpful for you or if you modify it to use other criteria to automatically import only at certain times or conditions.

Why won't itunes pop up when i connect my ipod?
I restarted all my settings on my iPod and now I'm trying to back up with iTunes. It tells me to connect with iTunes so I plug in my iPod and it doesn't pop up. I clicked the iTunes app and it opened up but on my iPod it showed that it was not connected. My iPod was charging and it said on iTunes that it was connected. From iTunes I went to settings and tried to checkmark the box that says "open iTunes when iPod is connected" but it was grayed out. ( btw I'm using a mac)

ITunes not opening when device connected
About a week ago, iTunes stopped opening when I connected my iPhone. If I then open iTunes manually, the device will be recognized and will sync. I checked in the system preferences and my Login Items had iTuneshelper checked, but the icon was a blank piece of paper and on the righ margin there was a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it.
I don't necessarily want iTunes to open when I connect my iPhone, but I would like to be in control of if it does or doesn't.
How do I set this straight?Select the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window.
Select the Summmary tab from the menu.
Select or deselect: Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected
And from the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Devices tab.
You can select to have the iPhone sync automatically (or not) there.
Or, right or control click the iPhone under Devices then make a selection. -

Why does it take 4 to 5 minutes for my itunes program to open? it also frequently freezes while i am trying to work with it. it won't open when i connect my iphone? this is on my desk top with Windows 7.
Okay, launch iTunes... does it work?
If so, in Edit > Preferences > Advanced is the option to "prevent syncing of iDevices" selected?
Another possibility, in Control Panel > Default Programs > Change Auto Play Settings > what is the system set to do when an iPhone is connected? -
I installed Snow Leopard and have the latest version of iTunes. However, when I connect my iPhone 4S, it charges and iPhoto opens, but iTunes doesn't seem to recognize the iPhone. It simply doesn't appear in the left column. What gives?

Your phone connected, iTunes running, under the "Apps" tab, you've selected this app to install on your phone, correct? Hit the "Apply/Sync" button, lower right on the Apps tab, what happens?

How do i set up photoshop to open when i connect my iphone
It used to be when I connected my iphone to backup to my pc that photoshop would open to store new photos. But since the last firmware update that does not happen. What preference do i have to check so that it does that it opens photoshop again?
There might be a setting in the Photoshop program, I am not sure. If not, this might be what you are looking for.

Just to cover all of your bases, are you sure that the USB cable is working and plugged into a proper USB location? I'd plug it directly into the USB port on your MacBook, not into a USB Hub.
Also, go to your Apple Menu after you connected your iPhone, open up "About this Mac." Then click on More Info. Click on USB on "contents". Your iPhone should show up in the USB list as "iPhone."
If you don't see it, there might be an issue with your USB cable or port. Just get the USB cable replaced. If it's the port, then that's outside of my skill set, but I'd make an Apple Genius appointment to fix it. If you see your iPhone, then the cable is fine, and your issue is probably with iTunes.
Go to iTunes, Preferences, then click on Devices button. Make sure that the Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from automatically syncing is not checked.
These are the basic things. If we can't make it work, then post back here, and someone will reply with the next thing to do. -
LR2.3/Vista: why won't it auto open when camera is plugged in?

My LR1.4 used to automatically open whenever i plug in (via usb) a camera, very convenient.
i've upgraded to LR2.3, and all seems to be fine.
i just bought a brand new Fuji F200EXR camera, and somehow, "autoplay" does open (that's a Vista autoplay window), but LR2.3 does not open up. even when i choose the link at the bottom of the autoplay window for managing that in Vista, Fuji F200EXR DOES show up, as do other cameras that i've used before, but the drop down menu for the Fuji F200EXR does not contain LR2.3 in it!
may i ask what the proper, correct way is to request that LR2.3 opens up whenever a camera is connected? (it's not an issue with my other cameras, just somehow, the Fuji F200EXR is not quite recognized by LR2.3 or something like that).

PS: the way i do it now is after i plug the camera in, i then open up LR2.3 manually via double clicking the LR2.3 icon on my desktop. i then go to File/import via a device. at which point, LR2.3 takes only a very short time to upload my pictures from the SD card inside the Fuji F200EXR camera. i find the LR2.3 faster and more responsive than my previous LR1.4.I haven't been shooting any photos lately, so I hadn't run into this yet, but it seems like Lightroom 2.3 didn't install any AutoPlay handlers (which is what adds items to the list in the AutoPlay Control Panel). I plugged in my Fuji camera, and it wasn't there. So I tried by Canon, and it's not there for that camera either.
So I decided to uninstall and re-install LR 2.3, and that seemed to fix it.
So, I'd suggest that you do the same. 2.3, although technically an update, contains the entire program, so just uninstall LR 2.3, then install LR 2.3 update (don't install LR 2.0 first, which is what you get on the install CD). If you don't still have the 2.3 update, you can download it from here:
