Why won't iTunes launch after being updated?

I have now updated iTunes to the latest version. (I am writing this on April 12, 2013.) When I did that, it continued to work on my Windows computer. However, since I closed iTunes several days ago, I cannot get it to launch anymore. I click on the icons on my desktop, and nothing happens. What can I do to make iTunes work? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Please help I am about to cry with frustration! I have tried for a week to install itunes on my laptop for my new nano. The download seems to work but when I click on the icon itunes does not open. Quicktime works. I have tried uninstalling fully and then re-installing after re-starting but had no joy.

No error message at all. Hourglass appears for a few seconds and then nothing.
I don't have Norton and have tried disabling my virus software and then running it but still nothing.

One last preliminary question aimed at diagnosing the issue prior to trying a treatment.
reboot the PC. bring up your Task Manager, and click on the "Processes" tab. now try to launch itunes again.
does an "itunes.exe" process appear in the Processes tab? if so, does it persist in there or does it disappear after a few seconds?

I updated iTunes today because I wanted to import songs from a CD onto it. After updating iTunes, I received the following messages after trying to open iTunes. (http://imgur.com/Rv2jOWa) The second message would appear after clicking "Okay" on the first message. I tried reinstalling iTunes through Apple. I also uninstalled myself after Apple's way didn't work 3 times in a row. I tried twice myself and after all that it still displays those messages after trying to open iTunes. I've never had a problem with iTunes before.

I've a problem with my iphone 5 since updating it´s operating system , I mean IOS 6.1 , so it was last thursday when I did that over the air , before I used perfectly my 3G but just after this update it doesn't work as usuall , I'm really disappointed about that and I hope that apple gonna give us the opportunity to correct that by another update this week , On the other hand I live in Casablanca , Morocco

Hello, I just updated our iPad 1 from iOS v4.2.something to v5.1.1, and now Pages starts up, but then promptly exits. I will try to delete and reinstall Pages, but after the big update, I had to reinstall the latest Pages anyways.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

there's only troubleshooting for windows vista, can anyone help me here? it loads, but then nothing open, but the toolbar is visible, however when i click on something, nothing happens, and when i go back to what i clicked on, it's not longer available, it's grayed out, and the only way to shut down is to force quit, and this only happened a few days ago when i upgraded to version 8, helppppppppppp

i figured out how to fix this problem on my own, go to http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1743954&tstart=0, follow the directions in the order they appear, for me uninstalling 8.0.1 and reinstalling 7.7.1 worked for me, and personally i like it better, and i shouldn't have upgraded.
no restart is necessary between disk verifications and repairs, and if you can't empty your trash with 8.0.1 in it, just disk repair again and it will automatically delete itself, at least that's what happened on my iMac, i never had this issue on my PowerBook, so there you, it pays not to wait on Apple support.

Why won't iTunes launch like it used to?

I had this problem going on ever since I updated it. My problem is that I would launch iTunes like I would normally do, but it started to bug me because I couldn't launch it again. Once I launched it for my purposes it's fine but after I close it and I try to launch it again, it wouldn't launch at all. It would seem that I can only open it once after I log into my laptop [Windows 7]. So everytime I have to launch it again, I would have to restart my laptop. I came here for help because I am also having the same problem. We have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and it it still won't work. I thought I had it figured out when I went to my task manager and manually closed iTunes from there, but when I re-opened it, iTunes froze and I couldn't get it to work. It's been going on for us for close to a week now. Having to restart my computer every time I need to get on it is going to get real old real quick. We have done it twice now and I am getting ready to restart it again. Even though I hate that other people are having the same problem, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one having it. Thought it was just my computer messing up! Please update if you figure out a better way to get it to work.

That's an annoying issue. Disconnect all USB devices such as Pen drives and external HDDs before doing the update.
