Why won't iTunes let me put my video on my iPod?

I downloaded some music videos from Limewire, and trannsferred them to iTunes. It says it's a Quicktime file and it will play in iTunes, but when I try to put them on my iPod, it says they cannot be played on this iPod. Is there a way I can do this?

it has to be mp4 or h.264 format. just because it says it's quicktime doesn't mean your iPod can play it. And the formats have to be within the parameters that the iPod will play. Here is a good guide

  • Why won't Itunes let me use my store credit to gift an item

I want to gift a couple songs to my boyfriend, but when i try to gift the songs it asks for my credit card information. i have over $100 in itunes store credit from gift cards. i want to use that money to purchase the songs i will be gifting. why won't itunes allow that? i looked up tutorials and gifting should be easy and all you submit is the other person's email but thats not happening for me.

  • Why won't iTunes let me import this album from my music folder?

For some reason, iTunes won't let me import Radiohead In Rainbows from my music folder. The songs are mp3 files. I've imported thousands of songs and haven't had a problem. I've tried dragging it in and importing from the file menu.
The one thing I notice is that MP3 is capitalized in the file names, but I don't know if that has anything to do with. The music plays fine in Windows Media Player, but I want to put it in itunes so I can put it on my iPod.

I appreciate the reply. How do you check permissions (what is permissions)? This is very strange since it worked flawlessly in my itunes libraray before recently as well as my ipod and all of a sudden it wouldn't play in my library so I deleted the tracks from the library and tried to re-add them but it doesn't load them now and doesn't give me any kind of error message.
These are official MP3 tracks that I downloaded from the official Radiohead website and they play fine on my Ipod, Windows Media Player, and Quicktime. Just not Itunes itself.

  • Why won't itunes let me sync?

I recently tried to plug my ipod into my computer and it it says that it cannot read my ipod. please restore. so i restore and it goes back to a blank summary page that can restore and check for updates and thats all. i cannot drag songs onto my ipod. and it wont let me use rhapsody either...what should i do?

So you have 1550 songs in your iTunes library on your dad's computer, but only 130 synced to the device and only 22 (the purchased songs) will actually play on the device?  Is that correct?
How is your iPod configured to sync music from your iTunes library on your dad's PC?  In other words, what options do you have enabled from under the iPod's Summary and Music configuration tabs in iTunes?

  • Why won't Imovie let me make a video longer than ten minutes?

This has never been a problem before.  I have made many videos on Imovie that are longer than ten minutes.  Now all of a sudden it won't let me make a video that is more than ten minutes long.  What is going on?
On a somewhat related note:  Not only am I having this hassle, but I had to create a whole new apple ID just to ask this question becasue for whatever reason Apple wouldn't accept my credintials ( not even my recovery credentials).  Then I had to try to log in five or six times because at first they wouldn't accept my new password, which I later found out was because I also needed to confirm my recovery adress, and then because I had to create a separate Apple Support ID.  I don't know about you, but I'm starting to get really sick and tired of having to jump through so many hoops just to accomplish the simplest tasks involving apple features.

Try copying it to your desktop, then importing into iMovie from there.

  • Why won't iTunes let me use

Sorry if this is basic or has already been answered, but I'm new to iPods and unfamiliar with iTunes.
So, about a year ago I moved in with my current roommate who had an iPod. He had previously lived with his parents and had used their computer as the home computer for his iPod, but he understandably did not want to have to go home every time he wanted to update his iPod, so he asked me if he could use my computer for his iPod and I said no problem. He downloaded iTunes onto my computer and (from what he tells me) there was an option to automatically put all the songs from the My Music file in to iTunes, which he declined because he had some songs already on iTunes he was going to use.
So about a month ago I got an iPod, and went to try to put my music into iTunes, and I keep getting this message that reads
"One or more of the songs being added are in the protected WMA format, and could not be converted. iTunes can only convert unprotected WMA songs. If you have the original CDs for these songs, you can import them using iTunes."
The thing is, it only says this about the CDs that were ripped on to my computer before my roommate downloaded iTunes. Any CD I've downloaded since works fine on iTunes, and every CD that was on my computer before that does not work.
How do I fix this? I really would like to be able to listen to my music on my iPod. I mean do I have to re-rip every CD that it is having problems with? Because that would probably be over 150 CDs, which I really do not have time to do. I've tried deleting and re-installing iTunes and that did not work. I'm out of other ideas.
Anyways, if anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know. Thanks.

You can try uninstalling iTunes and re-installing to see if that works. I'm confused though. Are all of the other songs wma protected? I may have misread but didn't you say these are songs your roommate had put on the computer ? Did they ever work on your ipod? If they are from CD's do you not have the discs anymore? If you do you wouldn't have to re-burn them. You could just put the disc in and import them directly into iTunes.

  • Why won't it let me put my visa number in ?

I want to use my Visa card and it won't let me

    From Demo:
If you are getting the blank app update screen, and, many people are having this problem over the last several of days:
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this. It is a workaround only until then.
    Or try this from Apple:
I understand that your App Store does not show your app updates. Please follow the steps below to help resolve the issue.
    1. Close All Apps on iPad: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    2. Sign out of iTunes & App Stores: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Tap AppleID > Sign out
    3. Reset All Settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    4. Reboot iPad
    5. Sign back into iTunes and App Stores: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Sign In with AppleID
Thank you for being an iTunes store customer. Apple appreciates your business.

  • Why won't iTunes let me download or play my matched and uploaded music?

According to iTunes, I have 5,009 songs now available in iCloud. Most of these were either matched or uploaded. They are not stored locally on my PC, as I use an external hard drive for that, and it's not hooked up right now.  I want to listen to some of my music on the PC.
When I open iTunes, the iCloud status reflects that songs are matched or uploaded, but there is no download icon next to them -- the only songs with that icon are ones that I originally purchased from iTunes.  And there are also many songs that were purchased from iTunes that also don't have a download icon next to them.  Everything has an exclamation point next to it, reflecting that my external hard drive isn't connected. And if I double-click any of the songs that don't have a download icon (most of them), I get the standard message that iTunes can't locate the song.
I've tried turning Match off and on multiple times, and also updating Match. Tried exiting iTunes and reopening.  Nothing helps. In fact, every time I turn Match back on, it asks me if I want to add this computer to iCloud -- as if I haven't added it 10 times already.
Match has been working fine on my iPod.
Here's what I'm seeing, just to illustrate -- you can see that there is a download icon next to the songs in one album, which was purchased, but nothing netx to the otehrs, which are all matched or uploaded:
I'm going nuts. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on or what I'm doing wrong?

I agree with Michael.  What's happening is because you broke the link to your external drive.  As far as Match is concerned, you still have all of those songs available to you locally.
If you've never created a new library in iTunes, it's easy and painless.  Switching back to your main library after you hook back up your external drive is easy too.  On a Mac you just hold down the option key when launching iTunes to get the prompt to either create a new library or to link to one  you already have - simple as that.
For what it's worth, I set up a second library after enabling iTunes Match.  All I put in it is new music I want added to the cloud.  It saves me a lot of time and if I really want a copy of the songs locally in my main library, they still show up via Match as downloads, so I can grab them anytime.

  • Why won't itunes let me "Edit" Preferences?

It all started because I needed to reset my preferences so that I would consolidate all my items in one folder and back up itunes.
I click on "Edit-Preferences" and itunes won't open the next box - crashes the program....restart over and over again...nothing...any ideas what caused this?

It is possible that you have a corrupt preference file. If you remove your preference files iTunes will create new ones with default values.

  • Why won't iTunes let me purchase GarageBand

I've downloaded GarageBand onto my iPad Air as a free app. When I try purchasing the GarageBand  extras iTunes won't accept it saying "Your purchase has not been completed, Please contact Apple for support.". Had a look on the forums but didn't help. I've bought other apps recently so I don't understand what the problem is. Has anyone got any suggestions? Thanks

For some reason it has worked today but thanks anyway.

  • Why won't iTunes let me use songs I purchased in a movie maker file?

doesnt' seem to be any rhyme or reason...I can drag some files from iTunes directly into Movie Maker and others it just won't allow.  Some of my music shows up in explorer when I use Movie Maker to "Add Music" and some of the songs, including those I purchased don't.  What do I need to do to free all of my music?

    Two suggestions.
    Wait.
Update iTunes to 11.1.3.8 if you haven't already.

  • Why won't itunes let me download the songs I've purchased?

About a week or two ago I pre-ordered the new A7x album (which came out today) and it says all the songs are purchesed but it wont let me download them. What do I do?

    Hey Trevsauce,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The following article outlines the procedure of pre-orders and redeeming the download:
    Downloading a pre-ordered item
When a pre-order item becomes available, you will receive an email letting you know your pre-order is available for download.
If you've enabled iTunes to automatically download prepurchased content, then your pre-order content may already be downloaded to your library. If not, simply click the download link provided within your email notification, and your pre-order content will begin to download. Alternatively you can use the "Check for Available Downloads" feature in iTunes on your computer by choosing Store > Check for Available Downloads to begin downloading your pre-order.

  • Why won't iTunes let me consolidate my library to external hard drive more than once?

I am trying to transfer my iTunes library to an external hard drive.  The first time I tried it was successful, but I didn't like how it was setup so I erased it to start over.  Then I established a new folder on the external hard drive labeled iTunes Music.  When I tried to consolidate my library a second time it didn't do anything.  Should I just manually transfer over the audio files?  My long term goal is to get my iTunes library transferred to the hard drive, burn my CD library using XLD to external hard drive, and clear the audio files from my internal iMac hard drive.  I figured I would just use an alias to connect the location of the files. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Derek

Consolidating is not the same as transferring the iTunes library.
    Do this.
    Quit iTunes.
Copy the entire /MusiciTunes/ folder to the external.
    Hold Option, launch iTunes.
    Select Choose library...
Select the iTunes folder on the external.
This is all you need to do.
After you verify iTunes works, you can then delete /Music/iTunes folder.
