Why won't itunes see my ipod touch?

My Itunes will no longer see my IPOD Touch and both have the most current software.  This happened after I updated the software.

Or
See
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
- I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
paying special attention to item #5
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

  • Why can't I see my iPod Touch in iTunes

I've carefully followed the trouble shooting guide, re-installed iTunes, restarted the computer and yet the iPod is not being recognized by iTunes, hence I could not add apps and sync them to my iTouch 4th Gen. What else should I do?

No, they use different cables. I have the iPhone 5 which uses the lightning cable and the iPod Touch 4th Gen which uses the 30 pin connector. But I don't think the cable might be the issue since the iPod charges when I insert the cable through the USB port.
I've carefully followed the instructions on the "additional information" page but could not find this
Locate the file "com.apple.usbmuxd.plist~orig and drag it to the trash. Still I went through the process till the end, restarted the MBP and re-installed iTunes but the device can't still be recognized by iTunes.
I've tried resetting/restoring the device, but got stuck on that part where an arrow and the cable with the word iTunes was displayed on the iPods screen because I could not go any further since it still did not appear in iTunes. Therefore there was no way for me to click the restore button to reset the device.
The only other option for me is to try it on another computer, maybe try it on my office desktop. I hope it somehow resolves the problem. I will make an update of my progress when it happens.

  • Why doesn't iTunes see my iPod 80gb Video since I upgraded to OSX 10.4?

I upgraded to Tiger from Leopard a couple of weeks ago and haven't been able to sync my iPod since. I've rebooted both the iPod and my Mac, Re-installed iTunes, replaced the ipod.plist and DRM key, and done everything on the Apple Help:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61937 "Mac OS X 10.4.x-Install the latest available Mac OS X 10.4.x update. If you are already using the latest version of Mac OS X 10.4, or if updating does not help, perform an archive installation of Mac OS X 10.4.
I didn't do the "Archive installation which I can't do because there isn't enough room to copy the internal hard dive data onto itself. Please tell me why my iPod appears in the finder, but iTunes just won't recognize it!

    Hi mattweb,
Windows is probably confusing your iPod with a USB network device. In this case, definetely try assigning your iPod a different drive letter.
If "My Computer" recognizes your iPod, then try performing the steps below:
1 - Don’t plug in your iPod yet.
2 - Go to "START -> Control Panel -> Admin Tools (if you don't see this, click on "classic view" button on the left panel) -> Computer Management."
3 - Click on the "Disk Management" button in the left panel area.
4 - Now, with "Computer Management" and Control Panel windows opened, reset your iPod, and connect it.
5 - Right-click on your iPod's listing there (after a few moments when it gets recognized in this drive window), and click on "Change Drive letter and Paths". Then the "Change..." button.
Here's what it should look like:
Assign your iPod the letter "M" "N", "O" or the like (further along in the alphabet).
For more details, see this article:
Windows confuses iPod with network device / Changing drive letter
    I hope this helps you,

  • Ipod touch Why won't my 2nd gen ipod touch sync with ical

Rather recently my ipod touch (2nd gen) won't sync with the ical.  The only information that shows up is birthdays.  None of my appointments past or future are syncing.  What is happening?
I have tried to 1. select individual calendars and 2. tried to select "all" and even 3. tried the one time replace all calendar options.  No go.  I can't get events to show up other than birthdays.
I only sync with the USB port to my macbook pro
    Very strange.

In fact I had only the birthday calendar turned on.  I was unaware that could be done.  Now that I have all showing it works just fine.  Thanks!

  • Why won't my 5th Gen Ipod touch switch on?

I have had my 5th Gen Ipod touch for 1 week. This morning it wouldn't switch on, the screen just stays black. Neither itunes or my computer recognise it but if I plug it into a mains charger the apple logo flashes slowly. I have tried everything suggested in the forums. Is there anything else I can do? Or is it a trip to the apple store?

    Try:
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Why won't iTunes detect my iPod Nano in the Source Panel?

I have a Mac OS X Version 10.4.11 and the problem is that my iPod Nano (4th generation) is showing up on the desktop, but not in the iTunes Source Panel. As a result, I can't sync any new songs to my Nano or make any changes to its settings. It had been working perfectly for 14 months on both iTunes 8 and 9. I'm positive that the source of the problem is either the computer itself or iTunes because my iPod works on any other computer that I've tried. We have two other iPods in the house (both iPod Shuffle) and they're both showing up in iTunes without any trouble. I have tried every suggestion on the iPod troubleshooting pages (reseting, reinstalling iTunes, putting into disk mode, updating software, different USB ports, new USB cable...) and none of this works. I even took the iPod to the Apple Retail Store and the best advice they could give me was to replace the iPod. Needless to say, I'd rather not do this since the iPod is working perfectly on its own and on any other Mac that I've tried.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
However, what iOS is on the iPod? If you have iOS 4.1 ( I think) or 4.2 then you need iTunes 10.x that requires OSX 10.5.8 or later.

  • Why won't iTunes recognize my iPod, ever since I got an external hard drive

I got an external drive and store my library there on the external drive. Ever since, iTunes will not recognize my iPod so I cannot update anything. Any suggestions?? Do I need to store the music on my hard drive and only use the external drive for back up?

If you want to make another drive (direct or portable) on your PC the main music location for iTunes, move all song files there, as well as any future imported music from CDs, here is one method (see the links below):
You will maintain your playlists, ratings, comments, etc. This will only move your music folders location, NOT your iTunes program files. It is my opinion that programs (i.e. – iTunes) work better when installed on your main hard drive. At the very least, it makes it easier to manage all your programs if they are centrally located on one hard drive (the Windows default standard).
See these links for some step-by-step info:
iLounge: Moving your iTunes Library to a New Hard Drive
MacMuse: iTfW: Move iTunes music/Library to new drive
iTunes: Moving your iTunes Music folder
If you are moving the music to an external hard drive or network drive, after the transfer, and to work correctly, the drive must be running prior to your opening iTunes. If not, iTunes will reset the location of your music folder location to the default.

  • Why won't iTunes read my iPod Classic?

I recently got a new computer and I had to download iTunes 11 for my iPod Classic. The problem I'm having is that I plugged it in to sync my music because I had some new songs etc to put on, but when I plugged it in it would say on my iPod that it was connected but it wouldn't show up on my iTunes. I have tried everything I can think of to try and find it. I've even looked it up online but nothing worked. Should I just try and find iTunes 10 or is there a way I can fix this?

    Howdy Hasuki-chan,
I have 2 suggestions for this depending on if it is recognized or not in Windows Explorer.
If it shows in Explorer but not in iTunes, this article.

  • Why won't my brand-new iPod Touch connect via BlueTooth in my Volvo?  My old one did!

Very interesting, but frustrating, too.  The iPod shows (in Settings): Bluetooth On; devices--cell phone (not paired); MacBook (not paired). Nothing about the car.  In the car, it wants me to punch in a four-digit code.  HOW?  Where?
This is crazy because my old iPod does this.
    Anyone have a clue?

The iPod will not pair with a computer. The iPod will only pair with yur car is your car supports one of the BT profiles that is supported by the iPod

Does the manufacturer of the car system say it will work with your model iPod and its iOS?

  • Why won't iTunes 11.0.1 sync my Podcasts to my 3rd Gen iPod Touch on IOS 6.0.1?

Why won't iTunes 11.0.1 sync my Podcasts to my 3rd Gen iPod Touch on IOS 6.0.1?  I'm running iTunes on my MacBook with Mac OSX 10.6.8.  I've checked to make sure in iTunes that the Podcast Sync box is checked and it is.  I've tried checking communities and tried several suggestions and nothing seems to work for me.  Everything else syncs except Podcasts.  I can't figure it out. Any suggestions to get Podcasts syncing to my iPod Touch again?  Thanks!

One other step I've tried was removing and completely reinstalling the playlist to the iPod. That cleared up the problem for about two days.
