Why won't Lexmark T430 printer with Snow Leopard?

Lexmark T430 will not printer with Snow Leopard. Error Message: “The printer software was installed incorrectly. Please reinstall the printer’s software or contact the manufacturer for assistance.”
The printer is connected via Ethernet from an iMac; I have an airport wireless network. Oddly, I can print wirelessly from my MacBook Pro, but not from my desktop iMac. Both computers were upgraded to Snow Leopard at the same time, but only the iMac refuses to print.
Tried:
-Reset printing system
-Downloaded Lexmark drivers and reinstalled them
-Connected printer directly to iMac instead of through the Ethernet switch
-Repaired disk permissions
When ‘adding printer’ the Lexmark is recognized and configured, but it only results in the same tired error message.
Suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi,
A follow up on my previous report.
I installed 10.6 on an external USB drive and booted my iMac from there. Result: was able to print successfully to the T430, both via Ethernet and via USB cables. Previously, I also tried to print from the iMac (booted from the internal drive) via USB and that failed; although, as I said, I was able to print to a Canon printer. I conclude that there must be some conflict between the Lexmark drivers and something on my internal iMac hard drive.

  • Epson C88 Won't Print with Snow Leopard

C88 won't print using Snow Leopard. Downloaded driver from Epson doesn't help.????

Like you, I'm working with an Epson C-88+. Happy with this situation, would not be exactly accurate. I have tried some different approaches, including the ones from John and Kappy. They would work just fine for about 3 days, then fail. I even went back to the Snow Leopard Install DVD/ Optional Installs/ Options.MPKG/ Printer Support and made a choice. I then went to Disk First Aid and everything was fine. Today, I went to print 1 envelope, total dismal failure. I then downloaded the EPSON Printer Drivers 2.1, I proceeded to install the drivers. Did anybody notice, this was an Apple License, not an EPSON License? Therefore, there are no assurances, that these print drivers are in fact, EPSON. Therefore, AppleCare should be required to support these Print Drivers as Apple Licensed Products. But equally so, we as 'dumb endusers' must try to work with AppleCare to solve this issue. To "pete.purvis" John and Kappy, sorry, you guys have proven yourselves to be out of the "dumb endusers group, I just want to say, THANK YOU!

  • HP Laserjet 4mp won't print with Snow Leopard

My great Laserjet 4mp prints just fine with OS 10.5.8 but not with Snow Leopard (10.6.2) on my new iMac. Have spent three plus hours with senior level Mac Techs to no avail. The printer screen shows the correct printer and driver and indicating valid connection, but when attempting to print I get the message "Unable to print, try again in 30 secs". Since 10.6 doesn't have Appletalk, am unable to use it; techs have tried to use the 4mp driver supplied with Snow Leopard and also downloaded it separately from the web site. We (they) have also tried using all methods (IP, Daemon, and HP Jet Direct using Ethernet and Serial to USB connections). Techs have talked with HP techs and have no other solutions. The security system is off. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

I've read the threads and don't understand some, but I think we (the Apple support techs and I) have tried the ones I recognize. One new idea--in a reply to a similar post someone mentioned being sure to use additional data when using the IP address-- submask address or some such, I
haven't been told to do this--should I? (I can get it from the printer readout if told what to get.) Also, in another post someone suggested deleting the OS 10.5.8 driver that was transferred when all the data from my old iMac G5 was moved over, saying that it would interfere. If true, how do I do that?
What I really need is a stepwise instruction on which connection to use (Ethernet, Serial to USB, or parallel port are the only options); which protocol to use (IPP, Line Printer Daemon, or HP Jet Direct socket, whatever they are); what to put in the Address line (the IP address is the one used by Apple techs); what to put in the Queue line (techs said to leave it blank); what to put in Name and Location blocks, if anything; and what to put in the Print Using line (techs have unsuccessfully tried Autoselect, Generic, and the HP4mp driver selected both from the Select Printer Driver option and from the driver downloaded directly from the HP web site).
I'd be grateful for this help or even advice on where I can get it! (With this new computer I still have free telelphonic Apple tech support but they've given up.) Thanks!

  • SUCCESS - now installed Oki c9800 printer with Snow Leopard  - solution

I had tried over and over with uninstall and reinstall to make my Oki c9800 printer work to no avail. After reading another post I tried the same suggestion but changing the name for my own printer and it works with Snow Leopard. (The original post of this solution is at
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2141179&tstart=0 - Matt's answer)
    SOLUTION:
The Oki installer has set permissions incorrectly.
    Open the Terminal application (/Applications/Utilities).
Copy and paste the following command into a Terminal window:
    sudo chown -R root:admin /Library/Printers/Oki/
Then hit the Return or Enter key. Enter your administrator's password at the prompt.
NOTE: Make sure the printer name, in my case 'Oki', is exactly the same spelling and case. When I put in OKI it didn't work. I had to put in 'Oki' as in my Printers folder.

    *My Solutions*
I used a tiger or leopard box and shared the printer through it. no driver required on SL end.

  • HP ColorLaserjet 2600n-Two-sided printing with Snow Leopard

    Hi,
I have a question relating to double-sided printing. I have a HP Color LaserJet 2600n. Two-sided printing worked fine for me with Leopard. Since I updated to Snow Leopard (now I have version 10.6.4) the two-sided printing options in the printing dialogue are disabled (greyed out). I use the printerdriver 1.3.0.261 How to enable this option again? Software update does not have any new software for my printer.
    Thanks!

I have this printer and the same problem. This printer does not have a hardware duplex unit, the duplex is entirely manual.
In the old driver settings, you could check off the "Two sided" checkbox (beside the Collate checkbox), and the unit will basically print off the odd pages, then after that it will pause until you take the printed pages and put it back in the tray, then press the Go button to initiate the print for the other side.
There is no settings (besides Tray 3) in Options and Supplies.

  • Why is my Photoshop CS4 crashing with Snow Leopard!?

IN an attempt to make my machine work faster, an employee at the apple store said I should upgrade to snow leopard and get more RAM.
    Snow Leopard upgrade--done.  version 10.6.2
RAM--ordered 2 more gigs from crucial, not installed yet.
    Hardware:
    Model Name: iMac
      Model Identifier: iMac8,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed: 3.06 GHz
      Number Of Processors: 1
      Total Number Of Cores: 2
      L2 Cache: 6 MB
      Memory: 2 GB
      Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
      Boot ROM Version: IM81.00C1.B00
      SMC Version (system): 1.30f1
    Software:
    Photoshop CS4 11.0.1
Since the upgrade I have had crash after crash in photoshop and bridge.  Other times PS freezes and I have to force quit.  My tools don't work properly.  The crashes happen so often and it is hard to tell what/ if any particular sequence of events make it occur.  I can only work in PS for a few minutes before a crash occurs anywhere between 0 and 12 minutes usually.  (inconvenient because i am a wedding album designer, PS is my only way to do my job.)
A few examples of frequent problems are:
--my free transform tool gives an error saying it can't perform because of a program error.
--my key shortcuts become unresponsive when trying to use them to change between tools, especially when using the zoom tool or the brushes
--marquis tool doesn't show up when i make a selection
--images do not open when i drag or double click them from bridge to PS
--after saving and closing an image PS becomes unresponsive and requires a force quit
--my latest crash was PS just quit with no warning, everything disappeared and the crash report appeared, I had just hit command+s to save when it happened.
Things I have done to attempt to fix:
--ran all updates that are posted on adobe and apple for both products.
--font management: FontExplorerXPro cleaned all but essential system fonts from the directories and cleaned font cashes in every place I knew to look for them
--i do not have the menlo font
--uninstalled all Adobe products (unregistered, deleted preference files, used Appzapper, and then used the adobe uninstaller, then all remaining folders from adobe were thrown away and trash emptied, computer rebooted.) **this is just the most recent attempt at uninstall and reinstall, the first time i just used the adobe uninstaller which clearly did not actually remove the program and all files.  annoying.  regardless, after each reinstall, the problems continued as if nothing had been done.
--i do not use 3rd party plug-ins to my knowledge (how would I know?  could these be installed without me intentionally doing it?
I have attached my most recent crash report to this.
i need this to work.  this machine and program were far too expensive to be making my life this miserable.  Especially when the upgrade was recommended by apple. and adobe's site had no major issues to report about snow leopard.  the fact that work that should have taken 4 hours has taken me about 2 days to accomplish between crashes is a rather major issue to me.  as is the fact that i have a $3000 piece of equipment on my desk that is virtually worthless right now.
    please help!

you have just worked a miracle in my life.  I did all of the suggestions this morning.  So far, so good, been running PS and bridge for 4 hours without a crash.  tools also seem to be working correctly.  i don't want to get too excited yet, but you might be my new favorite person in the world!
No, I didn't install rosetta with 10.6, at least not on purpose.  Best guess is that I had enabled rosetta to fix an issue i was having with PS3 last year, but I had forgotten how to turn it off and on.  I have been looking for that switch for days!  Thank you for pointing me in the right direction for that.  I had hoped that my attempts at uninstalling and reinstalling the CS would set everything back to default, but it didn't stop it from running in rosetta.  Rosetta is now off in PS and in the font manager.
I don't know about the PCC code thing, where do I find that information?  What does it mean?  I did change a few things in my PS preferences concerning the GPU settings because there was some speculation on other threads that the video card was causing crashs.  But I think I set that back to normal (enable open GL Drawings).  I don't know if the things I changed concerning that might have something to do with the PCC code stuff?
I think the com.adobe.Photoshop.plist file in the user/library/preference folder might have been the golden ticket.  when i opened that preference folder there were all kinds of things from my old PS3 in there too.  I dumped all of those and rebooted.  I have been wondering why after repeated uninstalls PS4 still had seemed to remember stuff from previous installations and also from my old PS3. (which I thought I had completely uninstalled prior to installing the creative suite 4--it was not an upgrade).  it annoyed to say the least that it retained memory of the old programs.  Now I wonder what else might need dumped out of that folder.  Should I be checking that folder for particular things periodically?
When you say clean all caches, where do I find them?  the font manager cleans the font caches, but other than that, I don't know where to look for other caches or how to actually clean them out.
Thank you so much for answering my questions/frustration.  You have saved my sanity--and my computer from taking a two story plunge to the pavement.  you're awesome!

  • Epson SP2200 printer no longer printing with Snow Leopard 10.6.1

Quite a few users of Epson's SP2200 printer found they may have an expensive brick on their hands after upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6.1. I was among those who thought my trusty printer was now useless, along with over $200.00 worth of ink supplies. I tried everything, nothing produced any results, Then I had an epiphany. My SP2200 was connected to my iMac via a Firewire connection. Firewire has been slowly phased out in favour of USB2, could that be the problem?. After downloading the SP2200 print driver from Epson's supported printers, I connected a USB cable between my iMac and Epson printer, and selected "System preferences" > Printers & fax> unlocked the app >selected the + sign to add a printer and "viola" there displayed in the printers window was the "Epson" Stylus Photo 2200 printer icon. I eagerly added it to my printer list. This was too easy; still not convinced I had succeeded, I tried printing a photo from my iPhoto library. After a few moments, I heard the sweet sound of my printer come to life, and shortly after that, a printed picture emerged.

Hi TDCP - welcome to the forums.
Printer drivers have taken a hit with SL.
Unless you know for certain that your current drivers are fully compatible with SL, you may need to look for updates in that regard. Same goes for your Adobe products.
    Anything in CUPS that helps?

  • HP Color Laserjet 1500L no longer prints with Snow Leopard

When requesting a 'print' the HP Laserjet 1500 accepts the job and the 'green light flicks 3 or 4 times and then nothing happens. A check on the queue reveals nothing - however the completed job shows. It was working perfectly well before I installed Snow Leopard recently. Is there anyone out there with the same problem and is there a patch or fix. I have reinstalled the printer and reinstalled driver. Appreciate any help. Thanks! argieanks

Right the 1500L does not work on my machine either. Although, the printer is on my airport extreme usb port, and is recognized as a Bonjour printer, the OS does not find a driver and will not install the printer. I can print through another computer. Unfortunately, I had to keep Leopard on the other computer just to get at the printer from my computer. I guess I cannot use snow leopard on that machine. This 1500L has been a problem for years. It has never been supported properly, and has given me all sorts of issues. In the early days, it kept dropping off my network, through successive operating systems, and then Leopard worked perfectly, until Snow Leopard, and now we are off again, waiting, waiting. Its my view that if a printer works, it should be kept working, not just dropped off the face of the earth...

  • HP Photosmart not printing with Snow Leopard

I just installed Snow Leopard yesterday and haven't been able to print on my HP Photosmart C7280. Of course, I already had the software installed with Leopard, and the HP site indicates the drivers for the HP C7200 series is included in Snow Leopard. Further, it says I don't need to install anything, and I just need to "plug and play." But when I try to print, the error message says I need to install software from HP to make this work. So, it's all plug, no play. Any help?

Search much? See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2131363 and http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2132253 for starters.

  • Network Printing with Snow leopard

Since installing Snow Leopard I have been unable to select my Officejet J6410 as a wireless network printer. I have followed the advice, selected Print & Fax in System Preferences, selected + and the printer comes up in Bonjour and after a few seconds it then adds HP-Fax and not, as in earlier versions, HPC012D7 Network Printer (HP IP). If I select the HP-Fax version I cannot wireless print. I know the wireless and printer are working because I have yet to install Snow Leopard on all of my computers. How to I get Snow Leopard to recognise and communicate with my printer?

Hi and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Go to the Officejet site and do a search for drivers that are compatible with 10.6.

  • Printing with snow leopard

Since updating to snow leopard my printing options disappeared. When I plug my HP Deskjet 4200 into the laptop it finds it and prints. But when I try and print via the time machine it can not find the printer, or give an error message saying the host is busy??? Any help??

I think my problem may be with the time capsule itself. If I kill the power to it and restart it I am able to find the printer, but still can't print as it says the network is busy (if I now remove the printer and try to re-add it I can no longer find it). Also, when I go into airport utility it finds my time capsule but gives an error"Make sure your Apple wireless device is plugged in and in range of your computer or connected via Ethernet and try again. (-19)" when I first turned it back on I was able to get into the configure portion of the utility, five minutes later I get the error message. In addition when I am on line via the TC I have to use firefox, safari does not work, nor does my software update, they only work if I plug the ethernet directly into my laptop.

  • Tiny printing with Snow Leopard and HP Photosmart C4280

Since I have gotten Snow Leopard on my MacBook, my HP Photosmart C4280 printer only prints reduced size. The HP test page prints fine. I have uninstalled the HP driver and installed the Apple software driver. Nothing helps. Ideas?

Hi Philip & welcome to the forums:
Got to ask if you're sure you have the absolute latest HP drivers from Apple....
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
And - also if you've checked for any problematic fonts (all languages) with Apple's Font Book (look in the Applications folder). Find and remove all duplicates also.
Start there to be sure all fonts that are in play come out with a clean bill of health.
Don't hesisate to perform wholesale deletion of old and/or little used fonts - be skeptical of anything that has come from Office 2008, including those related to an Equation Editor installation.
By all means be sure your 3rd party apps are Snow Leopard compatible

  • Why Didn't my iMac Come with Snow Leopard?

    The Apple site states:
How to get Mac OS X
Snow Leopard.
    With every new Mac.
Beginning August 28th 2009, every new Mac computer comes with Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
I purchased my iMac in late September 2009, and it came with Leopard 10.5.8
Did the Apple Store sell me outdated stock? I only came to realize this because I was interested in the new Mac App Store (you need Snow Leopard for that). Now I am afraid to upgrade to 10.6.x due to all the horror story reviews.
If there are any Mac gurus out there, can you explain why I was sold an already outdated Mac?

You bought an Early 2009 24" version and they all came with Leopard.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP507
The Late 2009 21.5 or 27" iMac's versions w/Snow Leopard did not come out until October.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP576
Over the years I have upgraded my even earlier Intel iMac that came Tiger, to Leopard and then onto Snow Leopard without a single issue or problem.
Snow Leopard was offered at a reduced price if you purchased an iMac when Snow Leopard was first released. However, I believe the offer has expired and that you will need to buy a Retail Snow Leopard DVD.

  • Airport Extreme Wireless Printing with Snow Leopard Not Working

I have two base stations in my home office: an Airport Express that's connected to the cable modem, and an older Airport Extreme (A1034) that's connected to my printer on the other side of the room. They were networked together so that I could go online or print wirelessly without a problem, until I upgraded to Snow Leopard. Now I can go online, and I can print directly from a USB cable to my HP printer, but I can't print wirelessly. The Extreme doesn't seem to show up at all in Airport Utility. Is there a way to get this to work again? Thanks.

Yes, I do have the latest drivers. I can print directly to the printer through USB. I don't seem to be able to access the Airport Extreme base station though.
