I spotlight searched mt lion and it isn't on my machine. I disk repaired and still nothing. Any ideas?  Thanks!

On the MBP you can try an App Store reset.

Why isn't Mountain Lion downloading? It shows up in Launch Pad and says it's downloading but nothng happens.

Depending on your connection speed, it could take anywhere from 1-8 hours to download.  It's a 4GB download.
On the average 3Mbps home network connection, it will take 3-4 hours to download.

  • How do I download Mountain Lion onto my other iMac, after the initial install?

I am wondering how to download Mountain Lion onto my second iMac, after the initial install.  I understand the purchase is for multiple computers, but I have completed the install on my first iMac.

Once you’ve purchased Mountain Lion, find the installer on your Mac. It’s called Install OS X Mountain Lion.app and it should have been downloaded to your main Applications folder (/Applications).
Right-click (or Control+click) the installer, and choose Show Package Contents from the resulting contextual menu.
In the folder that appears, open Contents, then open Shared Support; you’ll see a disk image file called InstallESD.dmg.
    Launch Disk Utility.
Drag the InstallESD.dmg disk image into the bottom (empty area) of Disk Utility’s sidebar (on the left).
In Disk Utility, select InstallESD.dmg in the sidebar, and then click the Open button in the toolbar to mount the disk image’s volume in the Finder. The mounted volume is called Mac OS X Install ESD, and it also appears below InstallESD.dmg in Disk Utility.
Select Mac OS X Install ESD in Disk Utility’s sidebar, then click the Restore button in the main part of the window.
Drag the Mac OS X Install ESD icon into the Source field on the right (if it isn’t already there).
Connect to your Mac the properly formatted hard drive or flash drive you want to use for your bootable Mountain Lion installer.
In Disk Utility, find this destination drive in the left-hand sidebar and then drag it into the Destination field on the right. (If the destination drive has multiple partitions, just drag the partition you want to use as your bootable installer volume.) Warning: The next step will erase the destination drive or partition, so make sure it doesn’t contain any valuable data.
Click Restore, and then Erase in the dialog box that appears; if prompted, enter an admin-level username and password.

The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
I don't get it, please help!
tip: Could it be because i recently signed in with another apple id in this computer??

Re: Corrupt Mountain Lion File @ App Store?
Jul 26, 2012 1:32 AM    (in response to NoPCZone)
What worked for me - no restart required - after reading all these posts...
    1. Disable Virusbarrier X6 (Launch X6, go to preferences > advanced tab, and switch the big slider to 'off'.
    2. Launch the Console.app (in Applications > Utilities)
    3. Once Console launches, go to View > Clear display (this clears the screen, gets rid of the clutter)
    4. Launch the App Store, and try to buy Mountain Lion - you'll get the error message as before.
    5. Quit the App Store.
    6. Go back to Console - and open the folders of information displayed in the viewer window.
    7. In amongst all the gobbledegook text on screen is a parth to the var/folders/ directory. The folder you are looking for will have a name like d3 or zz (it differs on each machine).
    8. Once you know the name of the problem folder - go to the Finder, and choose 'Go to Folder' (Cmd-Shif-G)
    9. Type in /var/folders in the Go To Folder dialog and click 'Go'
    10. In the window that appears, you should see the folder you're looking for, and maybe 1 or 2 others.
    11. Drag the problematic folder out on to the desktop (you may need to authenticate to do this) and save this folder in a new folder - 'old var file' or whatever.
    12. Select the problematic folder from it's original window, and delete it - Cmd-Delete, and it disappears (but you have the backup copy, just in case. Apparently a new folder will automatically be re-created (by FInder or App Store) - so don't fret too much about removing this folder. And you can always copy your 'backup' back here, if there's a problem.
    13. Re-launch the App Store, and try purchasing Mountain Lion. For me - this now worked!
The above worked on a mid-2009 MacBook Pro. I tried a few other suggestions - e.g. re-installing the 10.7.4 combo update but it didn't make a difference. It certainly looks like VirusBarrier X6 is the culprit.
I am currently downloading Mountain Lion - but I did update X6 beforehand to the latest verison, which is supposedly 'Mountain Lion ready'. Once downloaded and installed, I'll go back to VirusBarrier and switch it back on.
    Good luck folks!

  • Why won't Mountain Lion install on my new 13" Macbook Pro Retina?

I just received my Macbook Pro 13" retina 2 weeks ago.  I did a time machine restore and have now decided a fresh install of everything would be better since there are a lot of unnecessary programs and files from my previous macbook pro.  I did the reinstall by pressing command+R on restart and reinstalled Mountain Lion and it installed 10.8.1.  I then tried to do the Mountain Lion 10.8.2 update, which I previously purchased from the App Store, and it says it is not compatible with my machine.  There is no newer machine on the market than mine, so why isn't the latest Mountain Lion compatible?  Please help!  My iPhoto and other iLife apps are no longer compatible with this OS and I want my Mountain Lion back!

You did it wrong. Do this:
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
The above should install 10.8.2 so you will not have to update.

  • Why is my Mountain Lion download hanging after 53 MB

I am trying to download Mountain Lion from the AppStore and am unable to complete the download.  I have a MacBook Pro from early 2011 with OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).  I have done the partial download multiple times, trying to pause and resume as well as canceling and purchasing the app store item again.  I have tried downloading while in Safe Mode.  Each time the download runs fine up to the point where it reaches 53.25 MB and then it hangs.  At that point it is frozen and doesn't  restart  no matter what I do. Does anybody have a similar problem?  Does anybody have a solution?

Hi, I posted this reply on a similar discussion - this solved it for me...
I was also getting stuck at 53.25mb and tried several solutions on the forum.
A possible reason I have found is if you are (as I am) on BT Broadband using a 2-Wire Hub because there is apparently a 2GB download limit (not heard this of this before). I read this on MacRumors and that BT plan to release a firmware upgrade to sort the problem.
In the meantime I switched to another non-BT wireless network in the same building and hey presto the download is flying.
Haven't tried the hotspot shield solution.

  • Why won't Mountain Lion install on my MacBook Pro?

Ok, so I've just bought Mountain Lion from the app store for my 2010 13 inch MacBook Pro, it's been downloaded, and now I'm trying to install it.
It takes me to the first page, I accept the software license agreement and all that, choose that I want it to be installed on Macintosh HD, press 'Install' and enter my password... then nothing happens.
It accepts my password, so I know that's not incorrect, but just doesn't do anything. All I can do is keep pressing install and keep entering in my password, but it doesn't take me to a new page or start installing the software.
Ive tried restarting, that doesn't work. Please tell me I haven't just wasted £13.99!?!?
    Thanks!

ive just obtained a password by email, entered it when asked, but then nothing happened No download started at all, not in dowloads and cant fnd what to do.
Went to app store and I can purchase it apparently for £13.99 but ive a free upgrade with this new retina macbook pro.
Any advice would be most appreciated please
    thanks

  • HT202159 why does my mountain lion download appear to be stuck

while downloading mountain lion on my IMac it stopped and getting the message "waiting" after about three hours. It is not the wifi, because my Macbook Pro had no problem. IMac was currently running Lion.

  • Mountain Lion download begins but stops after 10.4 mb.

I own a I Mac desktop purchased in late fall of 2009.  Yesterday, I purchased Mountain Lion(and was charged for the program) and have been attempting to download it since.  It starts out fine until it reaches 10.4 mb and then restarts again.  It does that for 5 consecutive times and then leaves the messages "unable to download, check your internet connection."  I spoke yesterday with Apple support and also had a tech person go over everything on my desktop to make sure it is compatible and running properly.  I am runing Snow Leopard now and have never had a problem with downloads.  ALSO, I can download any other app and it works perfectly.  I also contacted my internet provider, thinking there may be a problem downloading a program of that size, and he said there are now problems on that end either.  The Apple support person did say that a new update was just released for Mountain Lion, but that was the only thing that he could come up with.  Any suggestions?

Have you tried installing in Safe Mode ?
    Restart holding the "shift" key.
(Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)

  • Is it possible to transfer OS X Lion, Mountain lion to a flash drive after purchasing it?

I called 1800-my-apple, to purchase OS X MOUNTAIN LION. I have been told by the representative, that I'll be receiving a email containing the software and later on. I'll be receiving the product key. Would i be able to transfer it to a flash drive. just to perform a fresh install on my macbook, when ever I want.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Of course. After installing Mountain Lion, you should know that the installer is deleted, so before upgrading and after finishing the download, close the installer and use Lion Diskmaker to create a DVD or USB drive with Mountain Lion > http://liondiskmaker.com
The USB drive or DVD will contain the OS X Mountain Lion installer, which can be used without an Internet connection. To start up from it, hold the Option (Alt) key while your Mac is starting and choose the DVD or USB drive. After starting up from this USB drive or DVD, you can use Disk Utility to erase the hard disk. Make a backup of your files before erasing the hard disk

  • Why won't Mountain Lion reopen my full screen apps in the same order I had them?

When I am on my MacBook Pro, I usually want my full-screen applications in the same order (i.e. iTunes on the far right, then Mail, then Safari on the far left). Whenever I shut down and later turn it back on, the apps are in a differenct order. Is there a way to make them reopen in the same way that I had them?
I had the same problem on Lion, though I am currently running Mountaion Lion.

Looks like I found the solution off in another thead:
"If you open your smart playlists and set "limit to" you can choose how you want your songs or podcasts to be sorted, including the ways they were sorted before. You should only have to fix each playlist once then forget about it."
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2157432?threadID=2157432&tstart=15
Did this and it works how I want it to now. The order is least recently added. Serves me right for not checking just 'one more thread' on this. Not the best execution since the playlist can be sorted via the iTunes UI anyway, but at least this way it makes it onto the device.
