Why won't movies play after reinstalling Windows 7 with IE9?

After reloading Windows 7 because of a nasty virus, I cannot get movies or games to display properly. I have deleted Real player, uninstalled and installed Flash Player 5 times and followed all of the procedures listed to solve this problem. Nothing has made any difference. Movies flash and remain black unless you can find the maximize icon and then, in full screen mode it seems to work fine. Games on Facebook flash off and on momentarily. Even adds on web pages won't display correctly. Something is incompatible but what?

Not working from me also, and switching to FireFox made it worse both on an Intel Mac (10.6.5 and Safari 5.0.3) and a PowerPC Mac (10.4.11 and Safari 4.1.3). I thought it was because my F4M was an older version but updating to current didn't help. F4M is properly invoking QuickTime so it must be something else.
Probably sloppy coding; there's a lot of it out there. I'd contact the site reporting the bug and ask if they can send you the movie as an e-mail attachment, or direct yo uto a location frm whcih the movie works. Alternatively, if the page that links to the movie allows you to download it, you can try that

Try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing is lost

On another apple discussion page, a user--Charlicharli-- posted a link to download and everything seems to be fine now. Apparently we had to check with Lenovo. We were looking in all the wrong places for the fix!

1) The Advanced Stream Redirector (ASX) format is not supported by QT X.
2) The Advanced Stream Redirector (ASX) format is not supported by QT 7 without third-party support such as the Fil4Mac WMV components.
3) Even the Flip4Mac WMV component only "supports a small subset of the ASX file format."
On my system:
1) Trying to play the file directly in QT X using the "Open Location..." option returns the fillowing message, "The movie 'mdsmarttool.asx' can’t be opened because the file is not in a format that QuickTime Player understands. The file may be damaged or may not be a movie file that is compatible with QuickTime Player."
2) Trying to play the file directly in QT 7 using the "Open URL..." option returns the following message in the "Inspector" window, "Movie Unavailable."
3) Trying to download the linked file does nothing. (Aborts action without any message.)
4) Trying to open the URL in Safari returns the following message, "The operation couldn't be completed. A Microsof Media Server (MMS) error was encountered. (-19160) Try again. If the problem persists, contact the website administrator."
Based on these results, it would appear that there may either be an access problem or a file type support problem.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately I'm missing the recovery key and don't synch with other devices so I guess that means I'm out of luck...
Maybe this is something that can be added to the roadmap for future improvements. I don't see a reason why you can't get your information back after a reset if you've only got one device.

Thanks .Ralph. The problem is only on the iPad 2only. I have an iPad 1 as well and it never had the problem. The only videos that I have tried are you tube and the tutorials on apple.com. I have absolutely no problem on either of my laptops or desktop PC's. Only the iPad 2. I am a new Apple user, so not very familiar yet with the product, but this is an absolute deal breaker for me. With Apple's reputation I was not expecting any such problems and it is beyond my skill set to solve it. Very frustrating. Again, no problem with you tube videos. I don't watch movies, so am not a Netflix member and haven't tried that yet, only you tube videos and apple.com tutorial videos. I have to watch those on my laptop. Again, I found a fix to the you tube problem. It was a link to a site. www.youtube/html5. html5 video player trial that you click on and once done, the videos on the you tube app started working great. They were doing the same thing as the tutorial videos prior to that. No such luck with the other web videos, at least the ones that i have tried. Hope this is enough info and understandable. You might check out the html5 site. I didn't thoroughly understand why, but it worked. You may understand it better. I am a proficient user, but far from an I.t. Pro. I have read Many posts with similar problems, but no simple solutions and the ones I did try didn't work. Speed tested well. Channel is set to auto and always different than neighboring networks, usually channel 11. Tried disabling QOS as suggested....no good. I am completely stumped. Any help is greatly appreciated. Sync problem after reinstalling windows

Last week I had Windows XP with the latest version of iTunes and my iPod could sync without any problems. But after I installed Windows 7, even if I have the same iTunes version, it won't sync anymore. I even tried a reset on the iPod and reinstalling iTunes, nothing works. I don't even get an error message. All it says is this:
The iPod 'Vicky' cannot be synced. An internal device error occured.
The iPod 'Vicky' cannot be synced. A folder was specified instead of a file.
The iPod 'Vicky' cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (0xE8004006).
The iPod 'Vicky' cannot be synced. There are too many files open currently.
Another one with a duplicate file, but I can't get it to appear right now.
It's always a different one. And sometimes iTunes even crashes and I have to reopen it.
What should I do?

Do you mean you checked *Manually manage music and videos* when the iPhone is selected? This is completely sepearate from managing yoru library. This allows you to manually manage the content on the iPhone.

If so, you cannot backup anything that is not there since you you already erased it when you reinstalled Windows.
BEFORE you reinstall Windows, you need to Deauthorize iTunes and backup /Music/iTunes/folder and all your media.

I am having the same issue. I tried rebooting/resetting my iPhone 4s running 5.0.1. Restarted iTunes. Still unable to update Apps. Screen is clouded/gray. Cannot even move the Apps on the screen. When I press/hold an App on the iPhone to make them jiggle, I use to get the circle X on the App to delete. That is no longer available.

The first thing I'd suggest is to get a good antispyware checker and give it a go at your system. Some recent spyware has been reported by other users to shut down iTunes or prevent it from launching. From user reports, Ewido seems to be the best at catching it. You can download a free version of Ewido here.
If that doesn't cure the problem, try deleting the iTunes preference files:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
and
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Data\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
You might have to turn on "show hidden files" to find them. (Right click "my computer", select open, select Tools menu -> Folder Options. Select View tab, "show hidden files" radio button is in the center scrolling panel.) Delete them or if you want to be able to put them back if it doesn't help, drag them to some other location. This will force iTunes to run the setup assistant the next time you launch iTunes. Note that you'll have to go back and set any preferences you've changed from the default.
If that still doesn't work, try this:

Got it working, had to go to the start menu and do a search for "Apple Software Update" and update Quicktime - had an old version that wasn't getting updated. Itunes works without problem now.

If so, it is quite rare in my opinion. You are very unlucky. Try reinstalling photoshop. Then check these files were opened or not. If not. Then the only option is a special software. I would use on your site this program
