Why won't my 5th Gen Ipod touch switch on?

I have had my 5th Gen Ipod touch for 1 week. This morning it wouldn't switch on, the screen just stays black. Neither itunes or my computer recognise it but if I plug it into a mains charger the apple logo flashes slowly. I have tried everything suggested in the forums. Is there anything else I can do? Or is it a trip to the apple store?

Try:
- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Ipod touch Why won't my 2nd gen ipod touch sync with ical

Rather recently my ipod touch (2nd gen) won't sync with the ical. The only information that shows up is birthdays. None of my appointments past or future are syncing. What is happening?
I have tried to 1. select individual calendars and 2. tried to select "all" and even 3. tried the one time replace all calendar options. No go. I can't get events to show up other than birthdays.
I only sync with the USB port to my macbook pro

In fact I had only the birthday calendar turned on. I was unaware that could be done. Now that I have all showing it works just fine. Thanks!

Brand New 5th Gen iPod Touch Won't Connect to Wifi

I just got a brand new 5th gen iPod Touch and expected to have a fun night of playing with it, but instead I was trying to figure out why it won't connect to my network. Not a good introduction to a product.
Here is the related info and troubleshooting steps I've already tried:
- It will not connect to my wifi network
- The iPod Touch says "Unable to join the network [network name]" when I try to connect to my network (as opposed to "Could not find the network [network name]" when it is not the correct network name)
- I was able to connect to a random unsecure network nearby
- Of course I power cycled my router and modem to reset them
- My wireless router does not broadcast its SSID; I made it broadcast it and it still didn't connect
- My network is password protected. I tried changing the security type, as well as turning the password off altogether, but nothing worked
- My wireless router is a Netgear WGT624 v3
- Even though it's brand new, I tried resetting the iPod Touch and the network settings
Does anyone have any tips or solutions for this?
I wasn't able to find other people with this problem, at least not with solutions that I haven't tried. It's really frustrating not being able to connect to the internet with my new device.
I will point out that my Android phone connected to my wifi network on the first try with no problems.

5th gen iPod Touch crashes spontaneously

Hi there
My 5th Gen iPod Touch crashes at random times, usually when on wifi. When it does this, it resets my clock by ten or twenty or thirty minutes and I have to fix the time because it does not automatically restore via the Internet. I tried restoring my iPod, both at home and at the Apple Store, but when the person helping me ran a diagnostic on it I was told nothing came up. My diagnostic data was still on the iPod and I had three kernel panic reports and about eight reset counter reports, so I'm not sure why I was told that. I've seen a similar thread on here saying it was probably the battery, so I thought that was the problem, but I've just been told otherwise. I don't know what to do because last night I plugged in my iPod and left the room, then came back to find the screen cracked (I'm guessing having to do with the battery). No one else was in the room and I didn't drop it. Because I don't know how to reproduce the problem, I'm having a hard time proving it exists regardless of diagnostic data, and now it looks like I dropped it and that damaged the device, when that is honestly not the case. Does anyone have any ideas?

No, I did not restore from backup. I restored to factory settings at the Apple Store and when I got home and tried to set up my email, my iPod restarted again. The time reset to ten minutes previous.
I'm mentioning the crash reports because they all correspond to the times my iPod restarted. It has crashed four times in the last hour and all I've done is download two apps (Podcasts and Skype) and added my email accounts.

5th Gen iPod Touch w. iOS 7 not recognized by iTunes 11.1

On Wednesday I updated my 5th gen iPod Touch to iOS 7, and ran the latest iTunes 11.1 update on my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8.5.
For two days, everything worked fine, but today, when I plug in my fully charged iPod it is not recognized by iTunes.
Some salient facts:
     1. My iPod shuffle is recognized by iTunes without problem when I plug it in to any USB port on my Mac.
     2. I tried all of Apple's troubleshooting suggestions - restarted iPod and computer, tried connecting to different USB ports on my Mac.
     3. My iPod touch will still charge when plugged in to my Mac.

It didn't occur to me to suspect that my still-new, Apple-brand cable went bad the same week Apple released two major software updates.

Can I set a time limit for usage on a 5th gen ipod touch

My daughter just got a 5th gen Ipod touch. Of course she is using it at times she shouldn't be. Is there a way to set a time limit for usage so she can be responsible for monitoring herself without us nagging all the time?

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
Come back with the results.
An "other" larger tha about 1 1/2 usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.
First try:

How can I transfer iBooks from my 4th to 5th gen iPod Touch both running iOS 6, using iTunes 11?

I downloaded the e-book The 80/10/10 Diet by Dr. Douglas Graham directly onto my old 4th gen iPod Touch from interviewthemasters.com a while back so my Purchases in iTunes 11 still shows no books available to re-download. _None_ of my iBooks content (e.g. bus route PDFs) show up _or_ seem to sync, even though I have Settings that all available apps sync their data _and_ back up into iCloud. I even got to a PC, downloaded iTunes, restored from my 4th gen's backup right onto my 5th gen, and still nothing in the way of my iBooks content, though the first time I pulled it up, I saw them on the shelf for a split second...>:-| What's going on? Why won't it propagate to my new device via iCloud? Nor can I find a way through iTunes 11 to get my content to my new iPod (yes, I have all authorized under the same Apple ID). Please help! All my annotations through iBooks are very valuable to me and I don't want to keep my old iPod and drag it out any time I want to reference my own notes on a book I bought! Am I to believe Apple cares nothing for my personal data unless it's through their store, and extends entertainment industry shenanigans to disable their own apps with _my_ content garnered elsewhere, _presuming_ it "must" be content which can be found on the store?! To reiterate, the 80/10/10 book was purchased from interviewthemasters.com and worked perfectly as a e-book through iBooks including annotations, hilighting, etc. It never syncs to my machine _or_ iCloud, so I cannot try your recommendation regarding the iTunes Book library, unless you can explain how to get it from my iPod into iTunes. The fact Apple syncs only its store's content and disables syncing for my own independently procured content, particularly as the sole means of communicating with iPods, I find reprehensible and is a perfect example of screwing their customers and hobbling their devices for the supposed privilege of offering entertainment industry content since offered elsewhere far less restrictively and at higher quality (Spotify, anyone?). In any case, if anyone can explain how I can get my own book onto a different iPod, I'd love to hear from you—and no, I'm not anxious to use shady PC utilities, and those well-reviewed don't support anything but music and movies. I do not have access to a Mac, only my iPods and a PC, right now (I'm working on it! Trust me, aside from wholly unnecessary shenanigans, Apple offers a vastly superior product!).

I have a 5th gen iPod Touch. I have made playlists in iTunes. I need to get them to the iPod. When I had a Classic, it was automatic. You could drag and drop using iTunes music to the playlist in iTunes and it would automatically sync to the Classic.

How can I get those playlists on the Touch without doing a total sync that wipes the iPod? Is there a way to do it?
As well, I am noticing here that my 5th gen iPod doesn't show as a registered device. How do I register it?
