Why won't my Aperture 3 open?

My Aperture 3 library will not open. Upon clicking the application icon, "Aperture" appears in the menu bar and a gray box says "Opening Aperture Library_Old." The program then becomes unresponsive after a few seconds, and I have to force quit it.
I have reinstalled Aperture and installed Software Updates.
One support forum mentioned I should delete the user preferences: com.apple.Aperture.plist. However, when going to ~/Library/Preferences that .plist file is not there.

Is "Aperture Library_Old" the name of your working Aperture Library that you want to open?
If not, then select the library you really want to open in the Finderand open it by double clicking it.
If you cannot open it this way, use the Aperture Library Fiirst Aid on your library like you tried before, but do it by selecting the library you want to open and double clicking while holding down the cmd-aoption keys,
If all of this does not work, try to create a new, empty library, to see if Aperture is still working. Double click the Aperture Application while holding down the shift-key.

Why won't my Adobe Bridge Open? I keep getting an error message. I first installed the free trial of Illustrator CS 6, but a few days ago joined the creative cloud. I would just uninstall & reinstall Bridge, but its not in the list of apps to install. Since joining the cloud I have also installed photoshop & indesign. Doesn't Adobe have chat support? I used in when first signing up for Cloud. Now I can't find it.

Bridge gets installed along with other programs (like Illustrator or Photohop) so it might require uninstalling all CS6 products to be able to reinstall it.
I would uninstall all CS6 products and then reinstall one which includes Bridge from a new user account and test to see if you still get the error.

Why won't Photoshop Elements 12 open?

After being away for 3 months, I attempted to open and use PSE 12 and it does not open. Today I uninstalled and reinstalled thinking that would help, but it doesn't. It appears as though it's going to open, but the little "streaming" just stops. Your assistance in resolving this problem is greatly appreciated.

I am not a technician so I can't go too deep in the analysis... I did all I could imagine to do, I would like that somebody from Adobe would take care of this issue finding solution to the problem.

Why won't some pdf-files open on tablet/phone?

I simply get the error saying: The document cannot be opened because it's not a valid pdf-document.
However I have no problems opening the file with my laptop, only my phone and tablet (Jellybean 4.2.2) won't open it.
My friends also have managed to open the file on their tablets (android/windows).
Have reinstalled and checked updates and tried other programs but none has worked for me.
I simply have no clue and would appreciate help.

Each time I try to open a movie trailer file in my Quick time pro I see a down load window with a small X box at the top left hand of the window.
Why won't these files open. When I go to the same files in Itune Store I have no difficulty downloading and playing

The best way to get contacts into a table in the new version of Numbers is to copy them from the "Contacts" application and paste into Numbers. In the previous version of Numbers you dragged contacts from Numbers (version 2.3) and dropped them on a sheet in Numbers.

Why won't my contact book open?

I need help to get my contacts or address book open so that I can edit some information. I don't know why it won't open. Each time I click on the contacts app I get a problem report. I'm copying paste (not the whole report) the information that states the error. I don't understand and I can't figure where to search for troubleshooting.

Why won't jpegs and gifs open

Can anyone tell me why jpegs and gifs that are in a document created in Word for Windows won't open in Word for Mac. This is a huge problem for me because I have webpages that I created in Word for Windows and when I edit them in Word for Mac I loose the graphics.

Word for Windows is a really poor webpage editor. It assumes everyone in the world uses Internet Explorer, and does not take the precautions of following standard HTML coding. A webpage document created in word may work in only Internet Explorer and maybe a few other web browsers.
My suggestion is to learn HTML and/or use a webpage editor known to follow w3.org standards to the letter like http://www.barebones.com/ BBEdit. You can try several other web browsers for the Mac as well:

Will Lightroom help me automatically compensate for the image distortion caused by my camera lens?
The Develop module of Lightroom includes Lens Correction which can read what lens was used from the metadata. With this information it can pick a profile that will reduce distortion caused by the curvature of the lens. For a list of which lenses are supported by which camera bodies, see this list:

If your lens is not currently supported, you have a few options:
Apply the lens correction manually

Why won't MS Word '98 open?

Hello to everyone..
My problem is this ... every time I go near Word, the screen freezes with the opening logo ie. "Word '98 for Macintosh" .. the watch icon comes up as if it's going to open it and can still be moved over the screen, but cannot be clicked with any effect. I am truly illiterate when it comes to the whys and wherefores, but I would appreciate some help with this. As far as I know I have not done anything differently.

Disk First Aid was the first thing I tried when the problem arose .. I meant that Word was initialising .. not the hard drive .. is that what it does? Well, I thought when it began doing that, it was about to open .. that was after I removed all the MS, Office and MS office prefs like you suggested, but then it crashed .. Word that is! So I did Disk First Aid again .. and have rebuilt the desktop several times .. First Aid says that everything seems to be ok. GRRRRR!! How can I find a corrupted file if Disk Aid tells me that everything is ok?
