Why won't my Apple Bluetooth keyboard hair with my iPad?

I have an iPad 3 and a silver Bluetooth Apple keyboard and it is always very difficult to pair them together anyone have any ideas?
It's very frustrating and I will buy a different keyboard if I need to?  I waste a lot of time simply trying to pair, instead of getting work completed.
I love Apple products very much, this is an ongoing issue however.
Thanks for any thoughts!

Try cycling power on the keyboard when doing the pairing.

  • Why won't my Apple Wireless keyboard connect or turn off even after holding the button down?

I have installed windows 8 release preview on my mac mini through boot camp. When pressing alt to choose to boot into mac, I pressed alt too soon and so windows started to load. When it loaded I realised my keyboard was no longer working. The light just flashed. I tried holding the power button to turn it off and normally this would work fine but this time it wouldn't turn off. I took out the batteries and replaced them and it still won't turn off. And even now, it won't connect to my mac mini or my iPad either. I've read on a forum that it might reset if I take the batteries out for 30 mins so I'll try again tomorrow and then report back, but I'm quite annoyed about this!

It turns out it was faulty batteries!! Just bought an Apple battery charger so will use that from now on!

  • Does the 1st generation apple wireless keyboard work with an iPad?

    Hi
I want to get a keyboard for my iPad but I don't know if this one works with my iPad 2. Can someone help please??!!

Should work just fine, I have a 1G Apple wireless keyboard and it connected just fine to my iPad 3.
Any reason why you want to use a first generation Apple keyboard? They require 3 AA batteries and can drain them fairly fast. The second and present wireless keyboard only needs 2 AA's and the batteries last much longer. I use rechargeable batteries in my 2G keyboard as well and since my charger only charges batteries in pairs makes the 1G limited to alkaline batteries.

  • When I try to use my JBL speaker, it won't connect to Bluetooth at all with my iPad Air

My iPad Air won't connect to Bluetooth so I can use my iPad Air and JBL speaker. I keeps saying it is searching for devices.....any idea what to do. I'm using wi-fi

I suspect it won't pair with your iPad, because it's paired with your phone, even though the phone is off. Do you have the instructions for pairing the speaker?  If you don't, google them and see if the device can be paired with multiple devices.

  • Will my Imac 27" bluetooth keyboard work with the Ipad?

Just buying the Ipad and would like to know if the bluetooth keyboard that came with my Imac work for document writing, etc. on the Ipad.

be the keboard better? A number would be great. I have a white A1016 that does not work ( few years old and uses four batteries). I have a new A1314 (metallic three battery) that works fine.
Alos, this has been discussed before here. Do a search of previous posts.

  • Why won't the iPod Classic 160GB charge with the iPad charger?

I found out the hard way that the iPad's 10w charger which works on my iPad-1 and on my iPhone 4s and on my iPod Touch *does not* work/provide a charge to my 2nd gen iPod Classic.
I had gone to Europe with a full charge on all of my devices, and on the long flight I used both the iPad and the iPod. Once in Spain, I left the iPod in the hotel safe; the phone and iPad were used throughout my vacation, receiving a charge every day via the 10w charger and European duckhead. The night before I left, I plugged in the iPod, knowing that I would need it for the return flight. Imagine my surprise the next day at the airport when I discovered that the iPod was practically dead. Before boarding, I verified that the charger itself (with the European connector) was still working on both the iPad and iPhone, and it was; but as soon as I connected it to the iPod...nothing.
When I eventually got home to the States, I sat down with both the 10w charger and two or three of the many other USB chargers I have accumulated over the years. With the exception of my ancient firewire connector, every single one will charge every single device-----except for the 10w charging the iPod Classic. The iPad will even get a charge from the non-10w charger; it just takes a very long time to get back to 100%. If I could find my 3rd gen Nano, I would try that, but I'm not sure where it is.
What gives here? Why won't the 10w charger work on the iPod Classic??

I finally got curious enough to get a young person's eyes to read the stuff on the bottom of my iPad Mini charger: 5v 1a which equates to 5W using Ohm's law P=IE (E=IR).
So that beng the max charging rate of a normal USB 2.0 port explains (derived from above posts by Bilbo_cheshire and CMJRoss) why that iPad charger does work when some of the larger iPad chargers do not work with the iPod. The current is limited so it does not cause the iPod to sqeal .

  • Apple Bluetooth keyboard broken (with technical sollution)

    Hello,
I've got a bluetooth apple keyboard (the Dutch alu small version).
Using rechargeable batteries I sometimes have to replace them.
When I do replace the batt. the keyboard won't work, no green led comes up.
also tried the caps-lock to check, but this also won't light-up.
So, Thinking it was the batteries, tried some new ones, and they work.
At this time I thought also the problems would be the batteries, but it wasn't.
I've change the batteries a few times this year, and sometimes the keyboard worked, and sometime it didn't. Until a few days after warranty (23-dec-08) it stopt working.
I've tried changing batteries over and over again.
I've checked the voltage of the batteries, and they where fine.
A store told me, no warranty, buy a new one.
So first I wan't to know what the problem is, so I disassembled the keyboard and made a few pictures so you would also know how to.
The problem is: The power of the batteries never reaches the circuit-board.
I can disassemble a few things, but I can't get out the main-problem part.
I think it's the springy thing in the batterie compartment, which does not give through the + voltage, the - was okay (checked with resistanse measuring).
I've read a few problems with this keyboard..... What should I do next?
    The keyboard costed 80,- Euro's...
I would like to change it for an usb version as I don't trust the bluetooth's anymore because of this (I found) mechanical error in design.

An update about the broken keyboard.
I called the Dutch Aple store helpdesk phone number. The person was very friendly, asked me about some products that I owned and tried to solve it via the normal procedures and asked for an exeption.
But like normal procedures: The keyboard was 15 months young, so 3 month over warranty
They did not took the exeption for a keyboard of 80,- euros.
I told them I was happy with a cabled keyboard (half cheaper for apple, and because I don't trust the bluetooth inside wiring).
It would cost apple almost nothing for a wired keyboard.
In a few years I bought a mac-pro, and 2 macbooks, I thought they would help me out over a few euro's.
    Next step:
The friendly person tried to call Customer Relations Ireland, but they were close at the moment I'll have to call back tomorrow.
    Backup step:
Cut open the alu part which blocks my way of repairing the keyboard.
Will take some time, but the fix will cost a few drops of soldering stuff.
At least this approach boosts the trust in online shopping
via the apple store I must say. Now, let's hope they can help me out.

  • TS3048 Apple bluetooth keyboard issues with mac pro

    Hi,
I have been using my keyboard with my mac for a while, but today I reopened the laptop and the keboard, had to pair the keyboard again because I started the computer before the device, the computer showed that the keyboard is connected and paired, but when I try to push the buttons(typing) nothing happens. Can any body help?

Could you use the camera icon to post a screenshot here of what you are seeing?  Exactly which Hangul keyboard layout from Apple are you using?
When you talk about the "virtual keyboard", are you referring to the Keyboard Viewer?

Apple Bluetooth keyboard won't pair with new iPad mini

I have same results. I have an ipad mini and it will not pair with my apple keyboard. I bought a mini keyboard with bluetooth 3.0 and it will not pair either.  Is my ipad defective?  Or do i need a keyboard with bluetooth 4.0?  Also - the mini keypad will pair with my ipad2 and my iphone 4.  Only difference I can find is the ipad mini has bluetooth 4.0.  Seems it should be downward compatible but maybe not.. I am not a blutooth expert!

  • TS1569 My Apple Bluetooth Keyboard (2003, White) won't pair with my MacBook Pro

My Apple Bluetooth Keyboard (2003, White) won't pair with my MacBook Pro anymore.  It seems just randomly became unresponsive.  I took them both to the genius bar and everything worked fine.  When I got home, NOTHING worked! Any Ideas??
The batteries are fine, and it will not pair with my wife's MacBook either.

iPhones and Macbooks cannot pair to each other except for internet sharing.
Most Bluetooth operations between them (like Airdrop) do not require they be paired.
What exactly are you attempting to do by pairing them?

I am having trouble getting my My Mac Book Pro 15" Retina to wake up with an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse while Docked in a Hengedock vertical docking station. The Keyboard and mouse work great with the laptop lid open but when closed in the docking station the bluetooth signal does not seem to transmit.  Is there a setting that can be changed to allow an Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to wake the computer while docked?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Apple Bluetooth Keyboard Not Connecting

    Hello,
I have an iPad 3 (model MD340LL/A) given to me by my school and the standard Apple Bluetooth keyboard.  Last year, I used the keyboard with my iPad without a problem.  However, my school collected our iPads over summer and did a software reset on them and set them up with their own system (a few standard apple apps are disabled).  Since I got my iPad back, my keyboard will not connect to it.  The iPad is physically the same one I had last year, but the software was reset.  When I press the power button on the keyboard, the light turns green for around 3-4 seconds and then turns off.  It won't go into discoverable mode where the light starts flashing.  we have tried connecting it to my dad's MacBook, and it sometimes shows up while searching for a device, but any attempt to connect to it ends in a pairing unsuccessful message.  How can I get my keyboard to connect to my iPad?  The iPad is on iOS 7.1, and I know that none of my school's changes to the iPad should affect my keyboard, since they haven't changed from last year when they worked fine.
    Thanks,
      Nihar

  • Apple bluetooth keyboard not found

    MacBook Pro
    Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013
Processor  2.6 GHz Intel Core i5
    Software  OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
since yesterday the external bluetooth APPLE keyboard cannot be found.
I use both a Apple bluetooth mouse and an Apple bluetooth keyboard. The mouse continues to work just fine, but the keyboard just stopped working and my computer cannot find it as a bluetooth device. I didn't run any system updates at all- the bluetooth keyboard just stopped working and then I couldn't find it- I get the message "no keyboard found." And yes, the batteries are installed correctly. And yes, I have turned the keyboard on.
This is the control panel I stare at for a long time and nothing happens:
I've read all the available troubleshooting advice from Apple, which is mostly a run down of how to put batteries in the **** thing and run the Bluetooth control panel :-/
    WTH?!

I found a fix for this and it does work. It's so simple I have a hard time understanding why Apple doesn't promote this extremely helpful and easy solution to the bluetooth keyboard problems (I hope you have as good luck with the fix as I had.)
