Why won't my Apple ID work for Facetime & Imessages?

Ok, I've just brought the new Itouch (I was using the first gen itouch beforehand) I've connected it up to my Itunes and registered my new product with out a hitch.  However!  One of the many reasons for the upgrade is so that I can keep in touch with friends aborad using the facetime app.  I've gone in and it's asked me to supply or create my apple ID which I have done (tried my old ID) but i get the same error message "you were signed out of Face time because your apple ID or password changed" but I have not changed anything!
After having a look on the board it seems like it could be that I'm not set up for Icloud, again this is a problem as everytime it tries to verify it says to go to my mail account for a varification email but nothing has been sent.  Or, do i need to do anything that will revove my old Itouch?  I haven't wipped it yet as I wanted to make sure my new one was up and running first.

In my continuing search for a solution, I've come across another discussion of this problem that may be useful to some. You will find here:  http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1250735
It offers two ideas to try.
First, if you are using Little Snitch, try turning it off when you want to log into iCloud. (As it happens, I do use LS, but turning it off made no difference for me. Some of the posters do report success, however.)
Secondly, try deleting the ~/Library/Application Support/iCloud/Accounts folder. (Again, some posters report this solved the problem, but it didn't work for me.)
Let us know if you have luck with either of these.

    The front and the rear camera are two different things. One can work and not the other. It is not unusual, it happened to my daughter's phone. Try a reset on the phone, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo. If that doesn't help, you can try a restore, first from a backup and if no help, then as a new phone. If no joy, then make an appointment with the Apple store.

    I use a headset for chatting on my Macbook Pro because the audio quality is better than the stock speakers and built in mic.  For some reason today when I'm using Facetime, its only receiving audio input through the built in mic on the laptop.  The computer is detecting that there is another mic connected, and it works fine when using Skype or Ventrilo, but won't use it for Facetime.  The output works fine.  I can still hear everything through my headset, it just won't use my headset mic.  It was working correctly with my headset mic last night, and after restarting my computer this afternoon, this problem started.  Anyone have any ideas?

  • Why won't my Apple applications work all of a sudden?

    For some reason over the weekend, my Apple applications like Safari, Mail, Software Update and such won't work. When I open one, my cursor turns into that rainbow circle and just stays there. The application won't go any further.
    However, my other applications I have seem to work fine, such as Adobe products, Macromedia products, and Internet Explorer.
    Do I need to reinstall my system? If I buy Tiger and install that, would that solve my problem as well? If I do reinstall my system, what files do I need to back up to save old emails?

    Did you recently install a new application or printer/scanner?
    You might have a font conflict . . .
    Many times, fonts will mess up all he Apple apps but not affect 3rd party apps.
    If you haven't added anything containing additional fonts, let us know, and we can look into font book app for duplicates.

  • Why won't 'IF-Statement' Formula work for an entire column?

    I am trying to make an IF formula subtract a cells value from another cells value, creating a 'balance'.  The formula is working when selecting one cell for each part of the formula, but is not working when I try to use the formula for multiple cells (entire column).  The formula I am using for single cells is as follows:
    =IF(Monthly Timeline :: F2="Citi",Monthly Timeline :: D2+1000,1000)
    The formula works with way, when I select the pop-up menu in F2 to say "Citi" it will add the value of D2 to 1000 and give me a proper solution, but when I change it to the entire column as follows:
    =IF(Type="Citi",Amount+1000,1000)
    The formula for entire columns 'Type' and 'Amount' does not produce a proper solution, it will display 1000, no matter how many values in the 'Amount" column have "Citi" selected in the pop-up menu in the 'Type' column.
    I know there is a way to make this formula work but I can't seem to figure out what I am doing wrong  any help would be greatly appreciated.

    the function if() does not apply to a column.  the functions sumif() and sumifs() do apply to columns.  You can get detailed information regarding these functions in the function browser.  To open the function browser select the menu item:

    I just got my mom's imac, which has her itunes account linked to the app store. 
    My personal itunes account is logged in in and working in itunes, but when i attempt to log into the app store, it says "Your device or computer could not be verified".
    What's up??

    I just spoke with an apple rep and they walked me through a ton of stuff. 
    Ended up restarting a couple times they had me move the file "com.apple.appstore.plist"  from Library/Preferences to my desktop and restart. 
    Then, logging in worked.

    I am trying to update from iOS 7.1 to iOS 7.1.1.  When I enter my Apple PW, (the PW I used to log on to this site) it says it's invalid. What I'm I missing? I really have no other ideas as to what PW's it could be asking for. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

    Since the update verifies you by your Apple ID, it needs the password that is associated with your apple ID (which may be different from the password you use here with your user name). So, you need to use the password you use to purchase apps, music, etc.

    My little lad did something to the iPad It had being rest back to when I first brought it. I tried to log on with my Apple ID as nothing ad changed n it says the account as reached its limit. Then when I turn it off n back on it lets me sign in, but when I go on the App Store it asks me to sign in to which I do it states that I need to verify my account but there is nothing that I can sign in with to verify my account. I go on my emails n there's nothing there, I want to  able to get free games n apps back on my iPad even when I try to get my bank detail up so that I can add it I can't without verfiying my email this is reali frustrating me out as the iPad cost me a lot of money, n I am wanting to use it how I did before please any HELP!!!

    The "limit of three" has to do with trying to define a new icloud account, not just logging in.  For icloud, you need to log out then back in using whatever ID/password you want.
    Go to Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account.  Then log in using a different ID.

    Sometimes, you just need to wait a while. But if it is crucial, turn your iPad off completely and reopen it.

    there might be something different on the mac you can try appleid.apple.com and reset your password i would also check the mac to see which appleid is signed you may have multiple apple ids and not know

    I am sorry to say that, but your security makes my life miserable – it’s been 2 months since my Apple ID account got stuck, and since then I cannot update 37 applications (to date), i.e. most of my applications. Half of them I bought. I also paid for iCloud, and it is not working. I paid money and I am stuck with old applications and no iCloud. Your security *****. Your service ***** too. It took your service 1 month to finally understand why this happened to me, and it took me tens of emails to you and 3 hours of telephone conversation to find out the reason for my problem. And the problem is still not fixed. NOT FIXED. You just leave your customer – the one who paid you money and spent so much time with you trying to help you help me – and nothing.     Well, it seems waiting is not my strong suit..! I renamed a javascript file called recovery to sessionstore. This file was in the folder sessionstore-backups I had copied from mozilla 3 days ago, when my tabs were still in place. I replaced the sessionstore in mozilla's default folder with the renamed file and then started mozilla. And the tabs reappeared as they were 3 days ago!
    So there goes the tab problem. But again when I started mozilla the window saying "a script has stopped responding" appeared, this time the script being: chrome//browser/contenttabbrowser.xml2542
    If someone knows how to fix this and make firefox launch normally, please reply! Thank you

    Not sure of what? In your second response you said the issue was with airplay. You were also having issues connecting laptop to computer, which points to a laptop connectivity issue. I simply asked if home sharing was an issue as well, since that will confirm the laptop as the cause. Your response that home sharing is on doesn't really help since that doesn't itself have a bearing on airplay nor does it answer the question in regards to if home sharing is working on Apple TV
    If you have a further question you will need to be specific.

    Thanks for the question. In my experience, the steps outlined in the "Unable to activate FaceTime or iMessage with phone number and Apple ID after waiting 24 hours (iPhone only)" section of the following article usually resolves this issue:

    Follow these steps if your phone number and Apple ID do not activate after waiting 24 hours.
    1. Back up your iPhone in iTunes.
    2. Disconnect the iPhone from iTunes.
    3. Turn FaceTime and iMessage off:

    4. Navigate to Settings > General > Reset and select "Erase all content and settings".
    5. In the iOS setup assistant, select "Set Up as New iPhone".
    6. Sign in to your Apple ID with FaceTime and iMessage. Go to:

    9. Connect the iPhone and restore from the backup. Do not perform a full restore.
