Why won't my attached index.html file display properly?

Hi
It's taken me months to get my head around DW CS5 and I have finally started to produce the first few pages of my site!
My problem now is that I need to send the unpublished pages to my client for review but simply attaching the files to an email is obviously not enough! I have a horrible feeling it's something to do with browser compatibility and I'll have to re-do what's taken me an age to do in order to get them to display correctly? When I send the page as an attachment, it opens as a blank green page with just the alt text boxes displayed and nothing else.
Or is it because my image refs are not absolute urls? Which leads me to my next question... how do I know the urls without signing up to a host and publishing the site?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help..... I'm tearing my hair out as it's already way overdue, so I'd really appreciate any help you can offer....
Many thanks, guys!

When I send the page as an attachment, it opens as a blank green page with just the alt text boxes displayed and nothing else.
A basic understanding of HTML would tell you that the files which appear in your "preview" such as images, and then only appear as "alt text" when you send this page to someone else cannot be solved by using an absolute URL since the absolute ULR is something like  C:\Documents and Settings\You\Documents\Site Folder\Root folder\Images\image.jpg and there is no way the recipient of the email can view pictures in a folder on your system from their system unless they can connect to your system by VPN.
If you're just running a layout by them, you should send a screen capture of the page opened in a browser. There's no need for full functionality until they are ready to go live with it and that usually would entail a face to face or putting the files to a server if you cannot sit down with them.

  • Why won't FireFox open local .html files (when using "open file")?

I teach hand coding and use FireFox to grade my students work. I also tell them to use this browser to review their own work. If they cannot navigate to their files on their desktop I will have to switch to another browser. I know it is something from the latest version... as I have been using FireFox for the last 5 years as my classroom browser of choice.

Firefox should still be able to open files using open files.
I use Windows so things may differ slightly but the option to open files is available but not visible by default, I can get the option to browse for files using: keyboard keys'''Alt , F , O'''
My directory structure and path may differ slightly but I am also able to key directly into the location bar something such as '''''file:///C:/'''''
A third option would be simply to click on the relevant HTML file and use the option to open, or open with Firefox. Such files may also be bookmarked.

If you aren't getting the reset link on the Password & Security section of your account then you don't have a rescue email address (an alternate email address is different), and you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions - you will have to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset.

If your country isn't on that page then try this form to contact Support :  https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html

  • Index.html file locks up Dreamweaver, TextEdit and Word

I've been doing design work (print & web) on the Mac for 20+ years and this problem has me stumped:
Yesterday I went to open my tried and true index.html file and it locked up Dreamweaver every time. I re-started the computer, ran Disk Utilities, deleted the Dreamweaver configuration cache file, renamed the file, downloaded a backup of the file, etc. Nothing worked. This file ALSO causes TextEdit and Word to lock up.
I can open all other dreamweaver files and can't imagine what is causing this file to dump. The file works in all web browsers, and I can even view/copy the source code out of Safari. But, when I tried and paste to source code to create/save a new text file, whatever application I'm using (dreamweaver/textedit/word) locks up. I finally created a brand new index file out of desperation, and that appears to work fine.
Does anyone have any ideas?? (Link to problem file: http://www.pencilplace.com/index_bu.html)
    Thanks,
    Kelli

I re-started the computer, ran Disk Utilities, deleted the Dreamweaver configuration cache file, renamed the file, downloaded a backup of the file, etc. Nothing worked.
First, you say you "ran Disk Utilities", but that is a very vague statement. Disk Utility is a tool that can do many things, so what exactly did you do with it? If you repaired the hard drive (not permissions), were any errors found, and were those errors fixed?
Second, have to tried opening the HTML file with a plain text editor like [TextWrangler|http://www.barebones.com/products/TextWrangler>? If it can open fine in an editor that won't even try rendering any HTML, but crashes all those other editors that are probably trying to render the HTML, there may be something subtly wrong with the code... though, I've never seen anything like that, so I wouldn't know what to look for.

  • Why won't elements 12 download raw files from Nikon D810?

Why won't elements 12 download raw files from Nikon D810?  I got a message saying that the camera model is not supported by installed version of camera raw.  How do I fix it?

Photoshop Elements questions should be posted in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum. Somehow your thread got posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum (video editing).
You can re-post your thread in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum or wait for a moderator here to see your thread here and move it from here to there.
My opinion on this....from the Photoshop Elements perspective...
Nikon D810 is supported by Camera Raw 8.6 and higher (latest version of Camera Raw is 8.7)
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
At the same time, the Camera Raw version needs to be supported by the Photoshop Elements version.
Photoshop Elements 12 appears to support Camera Raw up to 8.5 which does not support the Nikon D810.
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
    Solution...
    a. switch to Photoshop Elements 13 (comes with Camera Raw 8.6 and can be updated to 8.7).
    b. use the DNG Converter in Photoshop Elements 12

  • Adobe Bridge issue with index.html files

Hi, I have a perplexing problem.... Three weeks ago, I created a web photo gallery in Bridge. I transferred it to my website via FTP and it worked like a charm. Three days later I created another web gallery transferred it to my website using my ftp and the address of what I uploaded takes me to a blank page. I contacted my web hosting support and was told it looks like an issue with my index.html file. Here is a link to the gallery that is working: www.janieblanchard/com/galleries/prettylights/index.html
Here is the link to the site that is not working:

Any advice would be so helpful, I've spend too many hours trying different galleries and uploading multiple times.

  • In Dropbox, mobile index.html file does not open in Ipad with ios7

Before upgrading to ios7 the index.html file opened to text.  Ios7 was to correct this, but the file will not open in a browser.

I don't think this is a Flash Player problem, but possibly something wrong on your website.
Try asking in the Dreamweaver forum.

  • How to send attachment as html file in mail in workflow

    Hi Experts,
I want to know how i can send an attachment as .html file by mail in sap workflow.
By default it is being sent as .txt file.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kapil Kumar

    Hello,
In your decision step you can put this binding (if you haven't already):
    Workflow                  Step
    &DECISIONCOMMENTS&   <-   &_ATTACH_OBJECTS&
where DECISIONCOMMENTS is a BOR of type SOFM.
In the next step you can use fm SO_DOCUMENT_READ_API1
to get the actual text lines.
Once you have that you can convert it to HTML (not
sure how) or you could use fm SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1
to send it as a HTML attachment.
    regards

  • Corruption of index.html file

I am truly at my wit's end. My web site is hosted on Yahoo. I contracted with them before I was given a Mac for my birthday. I redeveloped my site using iWeb and have frequently had problems when uploading files. I made a small change to my home page the other day and after uploading, the page is corrupted--graphics are skewed, text is shrunken and misplaced, etc. I performed all the usual steps, clearing caches, etc., all to no avail. Uploaded several times--still no good.
Here's the rub--the files look good on the Mac; the published to a folder site works fine. The first time I called Apple about this they told me that if it's fine on our machine the problem is in the FTP you are using. I went to Yahoo file manager and uploaded the index.html file directly from my hard drive. The same problem. I called Yahoo, and after toying with it the tech told me that the html code is corrupted. He changed the web site designation in the html, and we got a different result, still corrupted. He says it's an iWeb problem.
I called Apple again--got the same answer, "It's a problem with your web host."
Here's the html code from index.html:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><title></title><meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url= http://raffellis.com/Home.html" /></head><body></body></html>
    Any help will be appreciated.

Well, I solved my problem. Here's what I did. I don't have a clue as to whether this is useful to anyone but here goes:
It seems only the home page has a problem. After many tries, I decided to dupe the home page and add it as the second page. I uploaded and lo and behold the second page was fine while the home was still corrupted. So, I went back to iWeb and deleted the original home page, making the 2nd page home. Uploaded again and guess what? The home page was corrupted again! What I did next was to go back to iWeb and make my home page a simple "Enter Site by selecting from the menu above." I uploaded and now my site is fine. Not the solution I wanted but I was desperate.
The bottom line is? Beats the **** outa me,

  • When I load an index.html file, the page looks fine, but when I refresh, the page shrinks.

I am using Dreamweaver. I open an index.html file in Firefox and it looks fine. When I make changes, and then refresh in Firefox, the page will shrink. If I close out Firefox and open the file in Firefox, it's fine until it's refreshed and then it shrinks again.
The file has one background image that is 1024px by 768px. I made sure the browser was completely open and I have a 27 inch monitor, so there is no reason for it to shrink down.
I've opened the same file in Chrome and Explorer and this doesn't happen.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox hoping this would help, but it didn't.
Suggestions on how to make this stop?

  • Why won't Aperture 2 support RAW files imported from Canon 60D when it does from my Olympus DSLR?

Why won't Aperture 2 support RAW files imported from Canon 60D when it does from my Olympus DSLR?

I'm afriad the fact that your Olympus dSLR is supported is no relevance.
The Raw from every model of camera is different. Note: that's every model not every brand. So, the NEF produced by a Nikon D40 is not the same as the NEF produced by a D60, the CR2 produced by a Canon 350 is not the same as the CR2 produced by a Canon 400.
Support for individual camera models has to be added one by one, and Apple will update the OS to work with the most recent version of the software. That's an incentive for you to keep up-to-date. So, for support for your 60D you'll need 10.6.5 plus Aperture 3 and/or iPhoto 11.
