Upload from where? And how do you know that they are "uploading" to your cloud storage? How do you define "upload? What does that actually mean?

Thanks for the question. If you have updated to Yosemite, then the Apple Logo with the status bar is the expected behavior for when the computer starts up. However, the powering off is not supposed to be happening ... so here are some steps to take if your MacBook Air won't turn on.

The upload will not complete and I get a failure message. I have cancelled and retried several times, to no avail.

Boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and preview the book as described in this apple document: iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture.
Check the PDF file for any errors before ordering the book from the Safe Mode. Keep the pdf file to compare to the printed copy when you receive it.

I'm not entirely understanding your question. Are you asking why iTunes Match doesn't scan, match and upload content from an iOS device? If so, it is because the service does not work that way. The service only scans an iTunes library and for music to be available in the cloud it must be in the iTunes library.
Music ripped from CDs is scanned, matched and uploaded as long as the tracks meet the minimum requirements.

These are all steps that have worked for some other users in the past. They may not work for you, but they are worth a try.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.

Is this for text you've already typed? Did you select it first? If that's not it, for PSE 11 and 12 go to the far right of the tool options, click the four-lined square and choose Reset Tool. For PSE 10 and earlier go to the far left options bar, click the tiny triangle (or the tool icon for really old versions) and choose Reset Tool.

What version of iPhoto? Of the OS? what has changed since it worked? How are you trying to open it (clicking on the icon in the Dock, double clicking on the application in the applications folder, ???)?
Anything else you can tell a total stranger who can not see you or your computer to let them assist you?

So there are no apps at all on your home screens? Try a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. If you don't see anything after that, take a look at all of your home screens and folders to see if something is hidden. It that doesn't work, you can go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

Thanks .Ralph. The problem is only on the iPad 2only. I have an iPad 1 as well and it never had the problem. The only videos that I have tried are you tube and the tutorials on apple.com. I have absolutely no problem on either of my laptops or desktop PC's. Only the iPad 2. I am a new Apple user, so not very familiar yet with the product, but this is an absolute deal breaker for me. With Apple's reputation I was not expecting any such problems and it is beyond my skill set to solve it. Very frustrating. Again, no problem with you tube videos. I don't watch movies, so am not a Netflix member and haven't tried that yet, only you tube videos and apple.com tutorial videos. I have to watch those on my laptop. Again, I found a fix to the you tube problem. It was a link to a site. www.youtube/html5. html5 video player trial that you click on and once done, the videos on the you tube app started working great. They were doing the same thing as the tutorial videos prior to that. No such luck with the other web videos, at least the ones that i have tried. Hope this is enough info and understandable. You might check out the html5 site. I didn't thoroughly understand why, but it worked. You may understand it better. I am a proficient user, but far from an I.t. Pro. I have read Many posts with similar problems, but no simple solutions and the ones I did try didn't work. Speed tested well. Channel is set to auto and always different than neighboring networks, usually channel 11. Tried disabling QOS as suggested....no good. I am completely stumped. Any help is greatly appreciated. Why can't I delete uploaded photos on iPad 2. I can select and share but the delete icon is "grayed" out

You can only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc directly in the iPad's Photos app.
For photos that were synced from your computer you will need to move/remove/de-select them from where they were synced from on your computer and re-sync - or if you want to delete all synced photos then you might be able to do so by swiping across the 'Photo Library' line in Settings > General > Usage > Photos & Camera (that should give a 'Delete' button, but I haven't tried tapping it to see if it works).
