Why won't my desktop background save?

I have the wierdest problem. Everytime I try to change my desktop background it goes back to an old one when I restart my computer. Has anyone had this happen to them? I have Lion version 10.7.3

Why do i lose desktop background on my extra monitor

When I turn my mac on I hace normal desktop background on both the system monitor and the peripheral monitor i have added through an hdmi cable and mini display adaptor. Hwoever, when I go to use the machine after the screen saver has been on the desktop for the perihperal monitor is blank??

Probably an issue with the adapter or HDMI cable not being able to transmit. I would recommend using either VGA or DVI, you won't notice any degradation in video quality.

Why won't files open or save in email

I have been trying to open some important files that were emailed and they won't open. I am getting the blue and white pop up asking if I want to open or save and it won't let me do either. It did this the other day and somehow I finally got it open after shutting down the computer. Tried that this time and it won't work. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling adobe. It did not work. There is also an online website I use to complete and upload PDF file documents and it won't work either. What has happened? How do I fix?

Ah this is just because I haven't fully updated my bridge yet, but the solution still works fine

The video shows replacing a current DLL file with one from last year - the key issue being that the files found in the Bridge and Photoshop folders are DIFFERENT. Why would this be? I checked a PS CS5.1 installation myself and the files are already the same. Is there an illegitimate copy of Photoshop being used or something, causing these files to differ? -Noel

Why won't FCP 5.1 'SAVE' and close without re-asking?

Hello all
I'm just wondering why FCP 5.1 won't close without ALWAYS asking me to Save again?
It seems no matter how many times I 'SAVE PROJECT', and try to close it, it prompts me again.

Did I do a fresh OSX install? - yes
Did I do a fresh install of FCP 5.1? - yes
(right out of the NEW SEALED box FULL RETAIL VERSION)
Just wondering if it's misbehaving somehow?

I'm not sure I understand, are you saying that you cannot close a project at all because it just keeps going back to the save dialogue?
Or is it that you Save a project then seconds later close the project and it asks you if you want to save again before it actually does close?
The latter does seem to happen with FCP, never been sure why, but not unusual.
The former is, of course, a problem.
I was going to suggest that you you can turn off the "save on close prompt" in User Prefs, but I just check and didn't see that option, not sure what I was thinking about or perhaps I'm just tired and was looking in the wrong place.

Why won't my iMovie application save my projects?

I have just started to use iMovie and was thinking it's too good to be true...easy to use etc. Then I shut down the application to have a break and come back to it later only to find my project I spent a couple of hours on was all gone.
Why is this happening?

BTW...I'm on OSX 10.6.8, iMovie 09 and I imported from a DV tape camcorder...is the tape DV files the problem maybe?? Should I upgrade to Lion or maybe try install iMovie HD to see if that works? Need someone's informed opinion on this as I have hrs of editing work to do and presently can't do it because MY PROJECTS WON'T SAVE!!!!!

Why won't my combined file save as a pdf to my dropbox?

I just signed up, combined two pdf's and it will not save as a pdf when i save to my dropbox, it won't even open.

Why won't photoshop let me save my images that I edit?

I have photoshop CS6 and am on a Mac. The photos that I am trying to edit are ones that I have taken and uploaded but everytime I try to save them after editing, I get this message, "the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file." Why? There is no other program using the file, I am the only one who has permission. I drag the lock icon into the trash but that doesn't do anything. How do I fix this?

Photoshop is just reporting an error that the OS returned.
Yes, there is a problem with permissions, or another application is using the file (which can include the Finder, due to some bugs in the Finder).
You will have to troubleshoot the directory to make sure you have permission to save there, and double check that no other application is using the file.

Why won't my Macbook Pro save documents in Notebook Layout View?

Whenever I try to save a document in Print Layout View, it works fine. But when I try to save a document in Notebook Layout View, it says that it is saved but it actually doesn't save it and I lose all my work. Why is this happening and how can I stop it?

So it looks like my FireWire port on my 2007 macbook doesn't work :-/ I hooked both macs to my External, and the external wouldn't show up on the 2007 threw fireWire, but it did using USB....
Is this a normal thing? do Firewire ports just give out over time, or could it be a software thing.... should I upgrade the 2007 to Lion? Will Lion even run smooth on the 2007? I'm kinda bummed about the port not working, but I ended up putting the large files on the Ex-HDD then transfering them to the 2007 via USB... wasn't the fastest, but it worked.....

Why won't Photoshop CS6/CC save my preferences?

Each time I open Photoshop, I load an image and use my scroll wheel to zoom and I have to go back and re-do my preferences. No preferences are ever saved. Anyone have a solution?

Have you set your preferences, then gracefully Quit the application?
If in doing so, the preferences are lost next time you open it, that kind of implies Photoshop isn't able to write data to its own preference files, which in turn implies a permissions issue. I've often seen people advise "fixing permissions" or even creating a new user account on the system to deal with that.
I'm not sure why you mention using your scroll wheel to zoom, but know that the zoom level is not saved as a preference.

Why won't photoshop let me save my actions

I'm wanting to know how to fix this issue? Each time I create actions it has the "Save Actions" selection grayed out. So every time photoshop decides to have a fit and kill on itself all my actions are wiped out then I have to recreate them, rinse and repeat. Help? How can I save them?

Never mind I found it out finally searching. If any one else wonders if you click an individual action and try it will gray out the save action button, you have to click the folder the action is in then click "save action". Something about not being able to save actions individually, but only in groups.

Desperately Need Help: Why won't remote desktop work w/VPN to a PC?

I am seriously losing my mind and the IT people at my job are clueless. I am not that sophisticated but, when it comes to macs, I might as well be a genius in comparison to them. At work I have a PC running Windows Vista. I have installed on my Mac (running Mavericks) VPN through Netextender. I can connect to VPN with no problems. However, when I try to login thru remote desktop, it tells me my work computer cannot be reached. My work computer is most certainly on and reachable. I desperately need to figure this out!! Please help!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with USB in your Lenovo B50-30 laptop.
Try to connect other USB devices like pen drive, external HDD and check if that is been recognized,
Try to boot the system into safe mode and check for the issue.

Why won't Photoshop Elements 9 save my contact book?

In PS Elements 9, I have imported and manually entered email addresses into the contact book, but when I return to use them they are gone. AM I doing anything wrong or is there a fix for this?

I too have the same problem. It has been that way since
my first elements version 5.
MS outlook is selecteted in preferences and still when I inport MS outlook contacts and work through the phoney missing 1st mname and finally get 475 contacts entered, that import lasts oly as long as Orgainzer is in the share mode. The contacts are not being saved.
I cannot beleive that ADOBE has not fixed this problem. I an runnig Vista home premium on a dell studio with a lot of ram and much processor speed..

Why Won't My Security Questions Save?

Everytime I try to download an app, it wants me to answer some security questions. I do, and then I click "Done". Then it says "Sorry. There was an error in the process of saving your information." After that is stops downloading the app. Is there any way to fix this, or do I have to contact iTunes myself (which I really don't want to do!)?

Why won't my security code save on the payment info?

I suddenly can't purchase anything. When I check my payment info, I see that my security code info is "required". That's weird since it hasn't changed in years. Regardless, I enter it and hit "Done". There are no complaints or red error messages or anything to indicate there is an issue with the code. When I recheck the info, the security code field is once again saying "required". The code is not saved and therefore I can't make the purchase. Please don't link me to the standard "payment info" link, it doesn't address this particular problem. This is the 2nd major issue I've had with payment info in a month. Looks like many people are having issues with the security code. Apple, what is the deal?

Having the same problem. Scheduled a call with support, they said it was on apple's end and it would be fixed in half an hour. An our later and still not fixed --charges my account a dollar each time I try to update it, and I have to start over on the support case. Really frustrating.
