I need the flash player to do my college statistics homework but it will not work!!!!! I was prompted by my textbook's website to update my flash player, so I followed the link as well as all the instructions on the adobe website. The flash player starts to download, then tells me to close internet explorer. i close explorer and retry. then, the adobe webpage comes up saying it's been installed, but when i try to go back and use my e-textbook, it says i need to update my flash player and i'm in the same place i started! help!

    Windows 7 - 32-bit or 64-bit?
Make sure you use the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer when you try to use Flash Player, or checking the Shockwave Flash add-on.
What files do you have in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash (32-bit Windows), or C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash (64-bit Windows) ?

  • Why won't the 10.3 Flash Player work on my Mac 10.5.8?

I actually posted this as part of a discussion under the thread "Flash 10.3 unable to be recognized", but nobody seemed to pay any attention to it there, so I am reposting my question as a new thread, but that is the problem I am having. When I download the player it says at the end it is installed, but yet I can't play games on FB I used to play, no You Tube, and no live chat room access, problems I never encountered until messing with this "current" Flash available. So here is what I did so far:
Okay, so I need help with this same problem that Tombland began to describe best, same system, and I followed some of the suggestions you asked him to do Chris Cambell, and he got it worked out, and I didn't so I ran out of things to try, so here's where I am at with the apparent inability to recognize the 10.3. I have a Mac 10.5.8, run Safari on it. I would never have even updated the player if I knew it was going to be this big of a hassle, but I was trying to get a football game from ESPN3 to play(which never even ended up working!), so now that I did that, I get no You Tube videos, and a chat room I frequent often is unavailable to me as well.
Sooo....I went to that page where I looked for "Shockwave Flash" section, and I did NOT have one. So then I followed the instructions to go to the folder/Library/Internet Plug-ins and I DO have "flashplayer.plugin" being displayed in there.  So now I have no idea what that means and what I am supposed to try next. I have tried uninstalling it, I have reinstalled it, I have tried to get archived Flash Players to go back to whatever I had that used to work(!), and I am not very good with computers especially a Mac, this is my first Mac I have had it for 1-2 years so I am still familiarizing myself with it, I have always had PC's. So please be VERY specific when you reply to guide me through the next part of the process to get this system working right. Please!? Thank you!(And I don't know how to show pictures of the screen being displayed, so please don't ask me to do that, although it has been very helpful what others have been able to visually show me to look for, sorry).

It sounds like you had Flash 10.1 or earlier previously installed.  The older versions of Flash Player had "universal" support, which basically meant that it could run with either Intel or PowerPC based macs.  The new version of Flash Player, 10.3, only works with Intel macs.  That checkbox was telling Safari to run in the old, PowerPC mode, which isn't compatible with the updated Flash Player.  In addition to getting Flash Player to work, you should see a performance increase in Safari as it's running in a native mode now
    Glad I could help!

  • Why won't Adobe Flash Player download completely onto my new OS X 10.8.3?

I downloaded the installation app from the Adobe website, and went through the process of choosing how to receive updates and the like. But when the installation itself begins, it gets up to 7% then stops. It stays there for a while, then quits randomly, and there's no error message. I've tried it a couple times, and have downloaded the app from the website a couple times too. I don't understand why it won't work on my new computer.
    I have an OS X 10.8.3
    Processor: 2.9 GHz 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel Core i7

    1. Security turned on?
        System Preferences > Security
Select App store & identified developers
    2. System Preferences > Flash > Advanced >  Delete  All
      3. Install Adobe Flash Player.
        http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
        Quit Safari.
        Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.

  • Why doesn't my flash player work?

I installed the Flash Player from Adobe, the message said it was successful. When it went to the Adobe page, it went black. I checked the control panel and it showed it as installed. When I tried it on Jib Jab, I could not see the video. It works on Google Chrome but not on Internet Explorer. I upgraded to IE 10 and that did not help either. I checked Norton and shut off the Antivirus, then did the Adobe debugging, and tried several times. Nothing seems to work. It seems like it installs but does not initiate.

Did you copy and paste that from your response in '08? Or maybe it was '07?
I wonder if I could apply this to other technologies...
    Radio after tv invention:
The drop in Radio only programs, and increase in TV shows in such a short period of time has been staggering. As other programs move on without Radio, since it's signal band is no longer being updated, it will become something akin to the telegraph...if it hasn't already.
    Boats after car invention:
The drop in Boat only shipping, and increase in shipping methods that are vehicle friendly in such a short period of time has been staggering. As other companies move on without boats, since they are no longer building new channels, it will become something akin to the horse and buggy...if it hasn't already.
    etc etc...
See you in 6 more years.

  • Why won't Adobe flash player run on my Macbook?

I go to the CNN site and their videos don't run. Instead they leave a message telling me to get Adobe Flash player, which I have done, apparently successfully, at least a dozen times. I've also uninstalled it and installed it again. This is an endless loop and I would be very happy to exit and watch the videos on the site or that people send me. Can anyone help me, please? I have a Macbook from about 2006, OS X 10.6.8. 2 Ghz Core 2 Duo. 1 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM.
    Many thanks.

  • Why I cannot download Flash Player in my old Mac OS X, Version 10.4.11?

I have an old Mac OS X Version 10.4.11 and I cannot download Flash Player.
Can someone tell me why or how?
    Thanks,
    Abe

Adobe Flash Player - Downloads. Locate a Flash version that will work in Tiger. Or you can try upgrading the hardware and software in order to use the current version of Flash. But that would depend on exactly what hardware you have. Only Intel hardware can be upgraded to Snow Leopard and beyond.

  • Why won't FP 11.4 work on my Mac?

I've downloaded and installed FP 11.4 several times.  It is always "successful" and appears in the Internet Plug-Ins file... but I contiue to see the message "Blocked Plug-In" wherever I try to see a Flash Player image.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks!
    Lee
    Mac OS10.7.4
    Safari 6.0

    Chris!
    You nailed it!
There was no "Shockwave Flash", but there was:
         _Flash Player.plugin  (note the underline)
The Info panel for it showed:
         Adobe Flash Player   11.2 r202
I deleted it and the current version, so no FP plugin was left.  Then, I reinstalled 11.4... and Bingo, it works!!
I have no idea how the underline got into the name... but it camouflaged it enough that I didn't notice it every time I looked at the Plugins.  Your sugggestion made me look closer.
    Many thanks!!

  • Why won't these flash hyperlinks work?

    Please check out this page:
    http://www.urbanministries.com/index_3.asp
See the rotating flash. I have links in it that pop out after
the image is completely on the screen "Read more" and "Watch the
Trailer." I know Flash has read the links as links because if you
right click on the words, it has "open link in new window" I
thought it was because I had the text as "Static Text." But when I
tried a test and changed one product's frames to Dynamic text, the
    links still didn't work.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi Shari
My guess is that you used Dynamic Text to make Text Block
    link.
Change it to Static and it should be fine.

  • Why won't Illustrator cs6 trial work on a mac mini?

I downloaded the trial of InDesign CS6 and it works fine. But when I downloaded the trial version of Illustrator cs6, it shows up in my applications folder but when I try to click on it, it prompts me that this application is not compatible on my type of mac which is a mac mini. Any thoughts?

Do you meet or exceed the system requirements for Illustrator CS6?  You can find the system requirements at http://www.adobe.com/products/illustrator/tech-specs.html.

  • Flash player works on youtube but not yahoo homepage

Flash player works on youtube but when trying to watch video on yahoo homepage says need to download adobe flash player I have already uninstalled several times but still won't work please help

YouTube uses javascript to determine if Flash Player is installed and switches to HTML5 (MP4), which requires no plugin, if Flash Player isn't detected. Yahoo doesn't do that yet. Here's why this is important, especially if you're using IE11.
The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.
