To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps first
Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you have registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you have selected iMessage for use. Learn more about troubleshooting iMessage registration if the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use.
Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. Learn more about troubleshootingcellular data or a Wi-Fi connection if a data connection isn't available.
iMessage over cellular data might not be available while on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn more about which network your phone supports. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on to use iMessage while on a call if your network doesn't support simultaneous data and voice calls.
Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you are still unable to send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Verify that the contact you are attempting to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and re-create the contact in the Contacts application. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.
Best of luck,

Why won't menu bar activate in trial version
Why won't menu bar activate in freshly opened trial version?
What do you mean by “menu bar activate”?
BTW, there is nothing limited in the trial except it quits working after 30 days so as long as you’re still able to run it, then everything should be acting the same after the program has been licensed. -
Why won't my iMessage work on my iPad since I upgraded it to iOS 7.1.1?
Why won't my iMessage work on my iPad since I upgraded it to iOS 7.1.1? I spent 2, 1/2 hrs on chat with the service techs and even they couldn't figure out why when I try ti send messages the person's name comes up red and says they are not registered and a big red REMOVE is in the box. Why won't my iMessage or any other browsing or date work?
Usually when my iMessage won't work or I can't use any browsing data, such as checking emails or using safari, restarting my phone will allow me to use iMessage and browse when it turns back on. However, today I restarted it numerous times and it still won't work. I can only use my phone to text or use the Internet when I'm connected to a wifi hotspot. I'm not sure why this is happening, any solutions?

Why won't my iphone activate?
Okay so a few weeks ago my iPhone lost service so I had to put it in recovery mode and restore and update it to get service again and a few days later I lost service and had to repeat the process and my phone was fine and had service again. It was okay for like a week and then I let my battery run out so it died and then when I charged it again it lost service. So I went to restore my phone again but it kept saying that it couldn't activate right now on my iPhone screen while trying to set it up "your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting to iTunes to activate it or try again in a couple of minutes" appears. So I connect to iTunes but it tells me to go to apple support because it won't activate. So now here I am can someone help?
Sorry, double posting will not help any better.

HT4623 Why won't my phone activate?
I just updated my iPhone 4S to iOS7 and my phone won't "activate" over cellular data OR wifi.
Probably becuase millions of people are trying to update and activate their phones at the same time.
Try restarting the phone, then try again. I had the error for a while earlier, but after trying over and over, it finally worked.
Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Why won't my imessage send as a text message
some of my friends imessage doesn't work unless they are using wifi. everyone always says hold the message like you are going to copy it then click send as text message but when I hold the message it only says copy and more. how do I get it to send as a text message without shutting my imessage off and without holding the message and clicking send as text message?
I'm not an expert on iMessage but I found the following which could explain why you aren't getting the send as text option. It is in http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/send-a-single-imessage-as-a-text-message
Also, everything I found discussed doing it after the message had been "sent."
The primary requirement for this to work is that you have the contact's phone number listed in their info. If you don't, your iPhone won't offer this option. -
Why won't my iMessage register my phone number?
I had recently had to restore my iPhone 4 because I had forgotten my passcode. After resetting, my phone number hasn't registered for my iMessage, allowing me to only be able to use my email. I tried almost everything: turning it off then back on, resetting network settings, signing out of my apple ID and signing back in, turning off both iMessage and FaceTime and then turning them back on again, removing my SIM card, and finally updating it to the latest iOS 7.0.4. None have worked as there is no check mark beside my number. Can anyone help?

HT5312 why won't my iMessage connect to my Apple ID?
My iMessage won't let me log in with my Apple ID. It keeps saying that my Apple ID or password is invalid.
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Also try restarting the router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If restoring from the Apple TV doesn't help, try restoring from iTunes using a USB cable.
If this is a new Apple TV, in addition to trying the above, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123.
