Why won't my IPad recognize that it is being charged?

My IPad has been having troubles for the last few months with charging. I put in the charger and it doesn't charge. So I fiddle around with the chord a bit and it starts to charge. Now my IPad ran out of charge completely and automatically shut down and as usual I plugged it in. I had it plugged in for around 14hours. It has not charged one slight bit. I tried plugging it in to my computer and itunes doesn't even recognise the IPad is sticking into it and still it won't charge. All my IPad has on it is a battery with a red flashing thing and a charging sign at the bottom. I have tried multiple chargers and I have tried turning it on. I've looked all over youtube but no one seems to have my problem. Do I have to visit the apple store? Please help!

Having to "fiddle around" with the cord tells you there is most likely a problem with your cable. Purchase a new Apple cable. Note that once the battery has completely drained it may take up to an hour before the ipad responds. Let it charge for an hour then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until it gets to 100%.
If the iPad still does not start Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

There is another way, if you still want to use two-step verification. In Account Settings (Security & Passwords), just below where you turn on/off two-step verification, there is an option called App Passwords. Click on Create a New App Password and it will generate a series of letters that is your new password for apps that can't verify the 2-step process. When you get the box asking for your password on your iPad, put this new password in there instead. Make sure that the password you created for your hotmail account is in the Outlook Account Password in your iPad Settings, but then use this new App Password when the sign-in box pops up afterward. Hope this makes sense.

I tried to update my phone to the iOS 7 last night but couldn't so tried again this afternoon but my itunes won't say there is a new update for iOS 7. My itunes now says that I have the current version (6.1.3) and that itunes will check again on 9/21. What can be done?

Unfortunately there is little you can do here but keep waiting for the update to appear in either the Software update in the Settings app or in iTunes.

1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
3. Check the USB cable
4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
6. You can use some third party software like this iPod file transfer, it can help you copy files from iPod to computer, and then you can use iTunes to sync the music to your iPad mini.
7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

Why won't my Mac recognize Verbatim Dual Layer blank DVDs?
I've just completed a 140 minute project in FCP. I've encoded an MPEG2 file that is 5.75GB in size. Brought into DVDSP and am trying to burn the DVD.
I have Final Cut Studio 1, latest updates and everything.
Because of the 5.75GB size I need to burn to Dual Layer DVD. I have Verbatim 4x 8.56GB dual layer DVDs.
When I click buld/burn and pop in a dual layer DVD I get an error saying "please insert compatible disc".
Even with every app closed. If I put one of these DVDs in my Mac it simply spits it out after about 20 seconds.
For some reason the Mac won't handle or understand these Dual Layer DVDs.
I bought this Mac Pro about 4 months ago and it is the 2 x 2.66Ghz Dual Core Intel Xeon machine and the DVD drive (according to system profiler) is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVD-111D. In system profiler it says "Pioneer DVD-RW DVD-111D"
Can anyone tell me if this DVD player is actually capable of dual layer, or do I need to buy one.
In System Profiler under Revision it says: AB09 and under Protocol it says: ATAPI
Can anyone advise please?

If you have access to a pc into which you can install the 112, or if you have bootcamp, you can replace the Apple supplied firmware with Pioneer firmware. This should restore full functionality to the drive. If you've gone through all that and it's the right kind of SD card, right naming convention etc. try giving your iPad a reset. Sometimes that port gets turned off (for lack of a better term) and a reset turns it back on. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
If it still doesn't work, if you have access to another iPad try the reader on that. THere are some defective ones out there. If it works on another iPad then there's something going on with yours. If it doesn't work on another iPad then you may want to take that reader back and exchange it because it may be bad.
