Why won't my iPhone connect to my wifi?

I have an iPhone 5S and it wouldn't find/connect to my wifi. I tried going and looking at connections available and my network wasn't listed, I also tried connecting manually and it would say "Unable to join network". Please help? P.S My cousin has an iPhone 4S and it also happened to her, she checked with a nearby repair place and they said that we should restart out iPhone completely (meaning that our data etc. would be gone unless backed up) so my cousin took the risk and restarted her phone and it still was the same, "unable to join network" and no networks available. But for her it happened last week, mine today. When we went to the shopping centre our phone listed the free wifi networks. HELP PLEASE.

Have you tried rebooting your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds to one minute?

  • Why won't my iPhone connect to my home wi-fi router?

I have an iPhone 4S, and the wi-fi all of a sudden stopped working. I have a Verizon FiOS router that I use at home to access the internet on my iPhone. I am able to enter the password and it says it's connected, but nothing that uses the internet is able to load, and it says it can't load the page because it isn't connected. And now, as I'm typing this, the wi-fi won't even load. When I click on the one I want, it just has that loading circle and never loads. I've done everything to troubleshoot. I've restarted my phone multiple times, turned the wi-fi on and off, and even tried resetting my network settings, but nothing works. I really need this to be fixed because I can't go on the internet without using my data, and I don't want to use it up, so I really need my wi-fi to start working again.

Marv567, I would like to help resolve this issue if you are still having problems. First, we need to determine whether the phone or the FiOS router is causing the issue. Are you able to connect to other wifi networks on your phone? Are you able to connect other wifi devices (computers, etc) to your wifi connection? Resetting the network settings is a great troubleshooting step since it requires you to setup the wifi network again. As JimFitzgerald suggested, make sure to reboot your router as well. Soft reset your phone by pressing the sleep/wake button and home buttons for 10 seconds until the Apple symbol boots up.
If you are still having issues with setting up wifi and the phone is not able to connect to any other wifi spots, you may need to restore/hard reset your iPhone. You will need to make sure your device is backed up as this will erase all data. Attempt to setup as a new device and then try the wifi connection again.

  • Why won't my Iphone connect to my Macbook Pro?!

The thing is, I have transfered music for many time over the past year. My Iphone connected to my Macbook and everything, it loaded up iPhoto, iTunes etc. But now when I tried to connect my Iphone to transfer some new music it wouldn't even connect?!?! First I thought that it was the cable, but it wasn't because I can load my phone normally otherwise. Then I checked my USB-ports, but they worked just fine! After that I started to search everywhere for the same problem but all I could find was ''My iphone won't connect to iTunes'' and that was not the problem I had... I restarted both my devices and updated my iTunes on the computer, still nothing works... And now I'm sitting here looking for an solution I probably won't find... So please help me with this problem, I am getting really close to just throw the computer in the wall or something!

    It is not uncommon.. !!
Go back in and setup wireless again.. let me strongly recommend you use a real utility.. not that toy in ML. See below.
Change the wireless name/s to SMB standard .. short, no spaces. pure alphanumeric. I recommend fixing the 5ghz to a different name at least whilst you have issues.
Now lock the wireless channels for 2.4ghz.. try 1, 6, 11 in turn. Keep whichever gives the best speed and range in your environment.
On the screen shots above I still haven't finished the setup.. wireless security should be set to WPA2 Personal.. and use a pure alphanumeric key.. mix of upper and lower case and numerals.. 8-12 characters is plenty for most.. if you are paranoid add a few more.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.
For screen shots see this post.

  • Why won't my iPhone connect to my home wifi?

My iPhone always used to automatically connect to my wifi now it won't even find it and when I type it in manually it won't recognise it what can I do to sort this out.  Also I can't do my update without the wifi so how do I sort it?

    Hello Trixie29,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning network issues:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Occasionally while using your iOS device, you may notice unexpected Wi-Fi behavior:
Difficulty locating or connecting to a network
Unexpected Wi-Fi signal strength or disconnects
    Inability to access the Internet
Not automatically connecting to Wi-Fi when expected
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the above issues:
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

  • Why won't my ipad connect to the wifi after I updated it to ios 7.1.2

Never have I ever been so upset at an electronic device
If I had know my iPad would cause such distress after this update I wouldn't have attempted it.
Because of this bloody update a plethora of problems have appeared and I have no clue how to fix it.
Firstly at around 4 this morning the wifi connection was spotty so I had to keep on reconnecting, but that was fixed by getting closer to the router. I thought "problem solved no biggie right?" WRONG! I left my house and came back expecting the wifi to connect again, but that was a fail.
SOOOOO I figured I needed to forget the network and log back in. That didnt work. I should not have done that. I should not have done that.
I got the *Unable to join the network. Dismiss* crap over and over and over again!
So now I figured I'd look up some help! Why not give it a go! So i got that whole (general-  reset- reset network) with or without turning on airplane mode bs. Didnt work. Trust me I tried both.Twice.
Since that didnt work I figured a reboot would. No. I turned my iPad off so many times I probably gave the poor thing whiplash
Now this has been going on all day and I finally gave in an hour ago and decided if I restore it to the ios 7.1.1 it'll work again.
Well it must be my freakin birthday cause guess what? You have to turn off your icloud's "find my ipad"to restore and to do that you need a........ wait for it................. internet connection!!!! Brilliant. Just. Brilliant. -_-
Do you FEEL my struggle yet????
all my problems...... they all lead to that dang wifi connection. Fml.
Any of you magical smarty pants have any help for this poor unfortunate soul.
    it would be much appreciated.
    Amnesty

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
    http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Why won't my Computer connect to my WiFi

I recently came home from my first year of college. At school I uesd my Macbook everyday and connected to the school WiFi just fine. I came home and my computer seems to hate the WiFi here. That's not the bulk of it, though. The macbook is pretty quick to solve the problem and it gets connected. My iMac, which I leave at home year round, has barely connected to the WiFi since i've been home. Every time I get on it's a struggle to get it to connect. I have sat there for 45 minutes before I've given up. The only way I have found to make it connect is to jiggle around with the wifi. I turn it off and back on (on my computer), I disconnect and reconnect. I try connecting to the extention (which is further away but has just as strong of a signal reading). Like i said, it works fairly quickly on my macbook but on my imac it takes eons. The only thing that fixes that is resetting the router. Since the whole house is usually using it for Netflix and stuff I try to avoid that.
My theory is that the Extendor has somehow confused my computers. I didnt set it up so I dont really know how it works. But unles both of my macs contracted some sort of virus then I'm out of ideas. If i could i would run an ethernet cord up to my room and bypass the darn wifi for now, but that's not an option.
I was just hoping that someone out there would know what's going on. maybe have a solution. Im an idiot when it comes to internet. I know noting about ip addresses and the like. I dont even know what the ip address for my router is.
My iMac is running 10.8 my macbook is running 10.9. latest updates on the macbook (imac wont connect long enough to update). thanks.

Apple's Wireless Diagnostics may supply some additional helpful information.
To use it, hold an option key while you click your Mac's Wi-Fi icon, and choose Open Wireless Diagnostics...
The following authentication dialog will appear:
Authenticate with your Admin password, then click the Continue button in the following:
The network analysis and diagnostic tests will take several minutes to complete:
When it completes, if your wireless network is functioning properly the following will result:
If something is amiss, supposedly the results will be different and you will be presented with helpful information.
Assuming your connection is "working as expected" select Continue to summary and click Continue:
Ignore the pre-populated text field, which is provided as a place for you to type in additional information should Apple ask for it in the course of obtaining technical assistance from them. Apple has no way of knowing where your router is located in your home, and certainly doesn't know if you even have an upstairs bedroom closet.
    Click Continue.
The next step will also take a few minutes:
When it finishes, you will be presented with a summary that may or may not be useful to you. Let me know if it is.
The WirelessDiagnostics-xxx.tar.gz file deposited on your Desktop can be dragged to the Trash, or you may wish to expand it and examine its contents. It's up to you.

  • Why won't my iphone 6 64gb phone or my iphone 5 ever get 3g or 4g?  It always only shows LTE

Why won't my iphone 6 64gb phone or my iphone 5 ever get 3g or 4g?  It always shows LTE instead of 4g.  I will be sitting next to someone with the same phone and service and they have 4g and I have LTE.

Yup, you want LTE all the time.   As Loquat  stated, LTE = 4G
when you are sitting next to someone and the phone says 4G, it is a ATT or T mobile connection.  They have fake or faux 4G that is a step down from LTE.  It really is 3G+ but they came up with the fake 4G.  This is why Verizon put LTE to indicate it is real 4G technology, not hype.
