Why won't my iPhoto import photos from my phone?

everytime i connect my phone iPhoto pops up, i have imported photos from my phone since december, it is now march so when i click import all photos it starts the import but usually the loading moves it stays in the same place for an hour and the only way i can stop the import is unplugging my phone and then i find out that only 6/1474 photos have imported. I don't have time to wait i need to go on a trip !!!!

try using Image Capture - doe it work better?

and note that OS X 10.10.2 and iPhoto 9.6.1 are out - you really should stay up to date - each new release fixes problems

    Will Image capture (in your applications foldr) see them and bring to disk? If so then once they are safely off the memory card and on disk use the camera's format command to reformat the memory card
    and can you impoprted to iPhtoo from disk? Will preview open the photos on disk?

  • HT4061 My iphone screen if frozen and grey after I tried to import photos from my phone to my mac in iPhoto.

    My iphone screen has been frozen for about 30 minutes on a grey sceen with a thin white line throught it. I tried to import photos from my phone to my mac. It was working for a while, then it quit and my computer said thre was a error. I looked at my phone and it was frozen. I can't turn it off and my screen does not dim, its just stuck on the grey. I also can'tfind the serial number either. I have imported photos in the past and it has worked. I just don't know what to do or how to fix it .

    If your iPhone is unresponsive, try resetting it using this method:
    Resetting your device
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    I think it's annoying that every time I connect my iPhone to my Mac iPhoto pops up, and the worse thing is that I can't just download photos straight from the the phone to the computer.
    So why do you make it so hard to drag photos from the phone to the iPhoto library?

    iPhoto Preference -> General -> Connecting Camera opens... and select your preferred option
    and the worse thing is that I can't just download photos straight from the the phone to the computer.
    Have you tried Image Capture (in your Applications Folder)?
    Who are the "you" you think you're talking to?

    I just got my new macair in the mail today and have been messing around on it. I tried to import 400+ photos from my phone and it has taken all day. I want to conduct a few of the updates its prompted me to but it won't me till my import is done. I don't know where to look or how to cancel the import so I can do the updates and try again with a smaller group of photos.

    Thanks for the question, and congrats on the new MacBook Air! Your phone is probably importing pictures into iPhoto. If so, see the following for information on how to stop an import:

    To cancel photo transfer at any time during your import, click Stop Import.

  • How do I get Photo Stream to only import photos from my phone and not push photos to my phone.

    Just purchased an Imac (first time mac user) and imported all my photos from my PC.  I have been using photo stream on my phone and ipad and like it.  The problem is, as far as I can tell, that I have added thousands of photos to the Imac and it now consider those to be new additions.  It is sharing those photos to my phone and Ipad and filling both up very quickly.  Is there a way that I can only stream photos from the phone to Iphoto on my imac and not from the imac to the phone?  I realize that in 30 days, this should correct itself, but for the time being it is a huge hassle.  Im sure there is some setting in iphoto that will alleviate my problem

    If you have a mac....
    launch iPhoto
    click the word "iPhoto" beside the apple, and select "preferences / photo stream"
    what synces, is listed here
    uncheck what you desire, and simply close iPhoto.  It will save the changes
    Also......
    Click the apple / system prefences / iCloud - if you wish to stop "photo stream" completely, you can uncheck it here.

    Is there any easy way to import photos from a bluetooth phone directly into iPhoto?
    My wife has a motorola razor flip phone with camera
    PowerBook 12inch G4 with iphoto '05
    To get the photos into iPhoto now, I do the following:
    1) Under Bluetooth menu I browse device (and choose her phone from the list)
    2) Navigate to her Pictures directory on her phone and copy pictures to a folder on her powerbook.
    3) Open up iphoto and import the pictures from that directory into iphoto
    What I would like to be able to do is just import the pictures into iPhoto directly. Thanks.

  • Can't import photos from i phone

    I cannot import photos from my iphone into iphoto. It is saying they are unrecognized files

    It's a shame Apple can't solve this. I used this work around: (NOTE: make sure to Unmount iPhone so that iPhone does NOT appear in finder window. Then close iPhoto and proceed as follows)
    1) Open Applications
    2) Open Image Capture
    3) Connect iPhone
    4) At the bottom, "Import To" drop down create subfolder under Pictures folder
    5) Select "Import All" or individually select items; To watch progress see the status bar at the bottom or  open subfolder you just created in Finder.
    6) After completion, quit Image Capture
    7) Disconnect iPhone
    8) Open iPhoto
    9) Import from subfolder created from Image Capture
    Speculation:
    a) Some files get bad info if they are on the iPhone too long.
    b) Some files are too large for transfer rate when it says "Preparing to Import". My 2.82GB .MOV imported just fine after moving it to my hard drive with Image Capture.

    I'm trying to get all files off my brother's old ipad before restoring it. I imported photos onto my computer using iphoto, but it didn't import the photos in the "photostream" on the ipad- why not?     Let me try and explain it this way.
    Say I have taken ten pictures, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10
    These were imported to iPhoto and went into an event it created called June 2013 Photostream. They were all imported and showed up in order 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10
    Some of them I have now tagged faces in etc.
    When I go back now and look in the June 2013 Photostream I only see 1,3,4,5,6,9,10
    But if I look in the last 12 months album I still see 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 in the right place and the right order
    Pictures 5,6,7,8 all had my face tagged and when I look in my face album 5,6,7,8 all show in the right place in the right order.
    I have got iPhoto to rebuild the library etc and they do not go back to showing in the Photostream import folder.

    With your iPhone connected by USB open iTunes.
    When a dialog comes up in iTunes, confirm, that you trust your Mac on the iPhone., when the "Do you trust this Mac"  comes up on your iPhone.

    Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
    Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

    hallo .my new apple mac is giving me problems after a trouble free 11 months,no doubt totally due to my own erros.i lost all my photo library after trying to tidy up things.
    imports of new photo via sandisc imagemate(reader writer) no problem but when i try to impo rt the photos to libray.i imediately get THE VOLUME FOR CIMG JPG APPEARS.
    i am not able to stop importing except by force quitting.later some photos are found in the iphoto library that were not imported and asks if i would like to import them.if i say yes,it goes back to VOLUME FOR--CANNOT BE FOUND.
    i can only import them by cancelling each one individually.i have checked COPY ITEMS TO THE PHOTO LIBRARY to no avail in advanced preferences.
    i am not connected to the internet and would appreciate any help in getting my iphoto library back in ship-shape order.

    I’m not sure I understand your issue but this might be the issue:
    This sometimes occurs if you’re importing a file into iPhoto and there’s already a file there with the same name. Digital cameras can produce many, many files with the same name over their lifetime, so it’s not uncommon to have several files called IMG_00543.JPG, for instance. Now you want to import one also called this.
    What happens is that iPhoto compares the two files to check for duplicates. However, if iPhoto cannot find the file already in the database for comparison, then you get this message. It suggests that your database is damaged because iPhoto has lost track of this (or these) similarly named files.
    A simple test is to rename the file you are importing - just add a character - IMG_00543a.JPG for instance. If this then imports with no issue then you might consider rebuilding your library:
    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    When I imported the original photos, I deleted them from my phone.

    But the OP already specifically said that he "imported the original photos" to (presumably, from the title) iPhoto, which then deleted them from the iPhone. Therefore, they should be in iPhoto, and one of the options when you're importing is to delete the pics from the phone. If they aren't in iPhoto, something's really screwed up. We're assuming it hasn't yet.

    Unfortunately the cable attached Motorola phones do not appear on the G5 desktop nor do they appear to Image Capture. Only iSync sees the Motorola phone on the G5.
    On my PowerBook, Image Capture sees the phone via bluetooth but waits forever for the lame Motorola software to respond.
    I'm afraid that Motorola does not want to sell any more phones to Macintosh owners. I'll go find a blog of phone recommendations and pitch these Motos.
