Why won't my ipod charge when i use my new usb

why won't my ipod charge when i use my new usb is used?

A new USB what? Cable? If the old one still works and the new one does not that would point to a bad new cable.

  • Why won't my iPod charge when I connect it to the computer?

So I have an iPod touch 4th gen and a Windows computer. It was working fine about a month ago but now whenever I plug my ipod into the computer, it doesn;t charge and just shows the battery and charger power symbol on my ipod. Sometimes, if my charger is in the right postion (bent in a weird way) then it will charge.
I've tried to go on control pannel and then devices and then device manager to update the USB port or whatever but it doesn't show. I've also tried to put it into the recovery settings or something but it doesn't work.
It's really annoying and any help would be great.

    Not Charge

    - Try another cable.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

I suspect a bad cable (could be cable or the the connectors at the ends of the cable), dock connector on iPod or USB port

  • Why won't my ipod pause when I turn off the ignition in my car? It used to.

Why won't my ipod pause when I turn off the ignition in my car? It used to.

How is the iPod connected to your car stereo?, (via earphone jack or iPod dock connector)
By "pause" you mean that now it is playing thru your car stereo, while previously, it stopped playing thru your car stereo, when you switch off the ignition?
Anyway, I don't think it is an iPod problem, but you can try the
iPod Hard Reset -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON.
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
refer to this Apple supprt Article on the 5Rs

This reset wont delete any of your songs, just put all the settings back to when you first took it out of the box.

  • TS3274 Why won't my iPad charge when I connect it to my computer?

I just got an iPad and I can charge it with the wall charger it came with, but unlike my iPod touch when I plug it into my computer it won't charge. I'm confused as to why it won't.

The iPad battery requires more power to recharge than the iPod and the USB port on the computer does not supply sufficient power to charge it. Apple recommends that you use the supplied power adapter and plug it into a wall socket.
    Read about it here.

  • Why won't my iPod charge anymore?

Okay look, my iPod plugs into the usb and says it's completely charged when it's only halfway and if I use it the ipod starts to die but doesn't charge back up. It's not the usb or the port or even the outlet when I use my wall charger it is my iPod. Does anyone know what is going on or how they could help? PLEASE! My iPod is my life and I definitely can't afford a new one or to get it fixed I really hope it's something simple and I'm just stressing over nothing. :/

  • Why won't my ipad charged when plugged into a computer?

I have a new ipad and for some reason it will sync etc when plugged into one of our computers but it won't charge.
My husbands one charges in the same USB port and on any computer but when I put my ipad into the same ports it says "not charging"why?
    Thank you

Most computer USB ports don't have enough power to charge an iPad.  Typically, the iPad can only be charged with the supplied adapter.  If your husband's iPad is actually charging, it's charging very, very slow.

  • Why won't my ipod charge overnight? It takes FOREVER.....

Hey. Have an ipod nano. I am really enjoying it- great for at the gym. When it runs down and I plug it in and go to bed- it is still not charged by morning??? It seems like I must be at the computer the entire time for it to continue?
Is it my computer, or some setting I must change, or is it my ipod? I just don't get it. I have read the troubleshooting guides, etc. I see that it can take up to 4 hours to be fully charged, but I would certainly think that if it was plugged in for 2 hours before bed, that it would be done by the am.
I have a high speed wireless connection so it is always on, and I do not close down to reboot status at night or anything.
Help!!! I hate being late just waiting for my ipod to finish!

Well, I charged it until there was a plug showing in the battery icon. I went as according to the ipod directions in the manual... (I think !!! LOL)
I don't think it acts weird other than this issue with not continuing to charge if plugged overnight. I have never sat at the computer continuously for the 4 hour charging time to see if it slows if I don't go to bed. I thought a watched pot never boils?

  • Why won't my iPod charge or play music on my ipod dock?

My sister pushed on the iPod plugging it in really hard, and it did play the music and charge it. When she let go it stopped working. I've tried it on two docks and it doesn't work with them anymore. Both docks are compatible. the first dock worked for a while with my iPod and then one day it just stopped working. I have had to use a cord to play thru the docks.

You an try the following. There are not settings on the iPod for dock. Are you sure the manufacturer says it works for your model iPod an iOS. Also have you went to the dock manufacturer's support site.
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod

  • Why won't my ipod charge?

I've got an ipod 4g (64GB) when last night i downloaded a few films from iTunes. The battery died when I forgot to put it on charge. So in the morning i put it on charge but the red battery didn't come up with the electric/lighting flash underneath it. But i thought that it maybe be my charger, so I went out and bought a 12w ipad charger witch was the one they only had for £30.00 (very expensive but a waste) it didn't work! I WAS ANGRY!! I was fuming. So I left it for an hour to because it maybe of needed a good hour to boost. So after an hour i touched It and it was hot! So something is going on, but what is it, is it the wattage or have I blown it because the 12w charger was too powerful. Please help me.

The iPad charger will work fine. I use one myself

  • Why won't my iPad charge when I plug it into the wall?

When I plug my iPad into the wall, it doesn't always charge.  Could the issue be the charger? Or is it likely the iPad itself?
Sometimes picking a new outlet helps, but not always.

    1. Reset iPad
    2. Change the USB cable
    3. Try another charger

  • Why won't my eMc boot when I install a new Airport Express Card?

I just tried to install an Airport Express Card into my eMac. After each time I reseated and then turned on the power, my eMac would not boot. It boots fine without the card, any ideas or suggestions?

There's a possibility that the card id defective and should be exchanged, but a stronger possibility that the Airport Extreme card (Airport Express is a different, external device) isn't actually seated quite all the way. Many posters in the eMac forums have noted that it takes a suprising amount of force to fully seat the card and to get it to move the last millimeter or whatever into the slot. You need to press the card to just short of where the eMac chassis starts moving away from you on your desk or table.

  • Why won't the iPod Classic 160GB charge with the iPad charger?

I found out the hard way that the iPad's 10w charger which works on my iPad-1 and on my iPhone 4s and on my iPod Touch *does not* work/provide a charge to my 2nd gen iPod Classic.
I had gone to Europe with a full charge on all of my devices, and on the long flight I used both the iPad and the iPod. Once in Spain, I left the iPod in the hotel safe; the phone and iPad were used throughout my vacation, receiving a charge every day via the 10w charger and European duckhead. The night before I left, I plugged in the iPod, knowing that I would need it for the return flight. Imagine my surprise the next day at the airport when I discovered that the iPod was practically dead. Before boarding, I verified that the charger itself (with the European connector) was still working on both the iPad and iPhone, and it was; but as soon as I connected it to the iPod...nothing.
When I eventually got home to the States, I sat down with both the 10w charger and two or three of the many other USB chargers I have accumulated over the years. With the exception of my ancient firewire connector, every single one will charge every single device-----except for the 10w charging the iPod Classic. The iPad will even get a charge from the non-10w charger; it just takes a very long time to get back to 100%. If I could find my 3rd gen Nano, I would try that, but I'm not sure where it is.
What gives here? Why won't the 10w charger work on the iPod Classic??

I finally got curious enough to get a young person's eyes to read the stuff on the bottom of my iPad Mini charger: 5v 1a which equates to 5W using Ohm's law P=IE (E=IR).
So that beng the max charging rate of a normal USB 2.0 port explains (derived from above posts by Bilbo_cheshire and CMJRoss) why that iPad charger does work when some of the larger iPad chargers do not work with the iPod. The current is limited so it does not cause the iPod to sqeal .

  • Why won't my ipod shuffle charge in a portable USB charger?

Why won't my ipod shuffle charge in a portable USB charger?

Does the wall charger successfully charged other devices like iPad, iPhones?
There are some complaints,  that the 10W iPad wall charger does not charge iPod Classic, as it is too high power, Claasic need 1Amp max, but the iPad Charger gives 2 Amp.
    Have a nice day!

when i try and restore it, it says unknown error, Itunes is fully up-to-date, ive changed ipod charger chords, ive put in different usb drives also (HELP)

I searched the iPod Touch forum for "iphone in recovery mode" and it appears there are two possible solutions:
    - Place the iPod in DFU mode and then restore it>

    - Use this program to get it out of recovery mode:
