just got 4s and synced my music and only about half went to my phone.  the rest wont sync.  says unknown error.  help!

Unless as part of a backup, or stored somewhere else, they are gone.
Your son needs his own Apple ID for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage. He can continue to use yours for iTunes content, but for everything else, he needs his own.
When you did what you did, as far as iCloud knows, this is the same person with multiple devices, and that's they way things are supposed to work: keep everything in sync.

  • My ipod won't sync because of "unknown error 13019" Help!!

What does unknown error 13019 mean?

Check out this Apple article -> iTunes: Error 13019 during sync
Try disabling automatic syncing of the iPod from iTunes preferences. Also, take a look at what's syncing to the iPod when you see the error and try to uncheck that to see if the error stops. There might be a bad file in that group of content.

  • Can't sync cause of unknown error 13019

I just updated my i-pod touch with 3.1.3 and now when I try and sync it won't finish and all it says is unknown error 13019. I have restarted my computer and changed USB cables. Everything is updated, I don't know what to do.

Even though you've got a 3.1.3, the following document is still a good place to start with a 13019:

  • Why won't my iPod sync?

It'll start to sync, then a window pops up saying "Cannot sync, unknown error occured" My iPod, iTunes, apps, etc. are all up to date, and my computer is a Mac. I've tried restarting the computer and making sure my iPod is charged. Help!

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad.
There's more to try but let's go a bit at a time.

  • Why won't my Ipod Sync the music that is already downloaded?

When I try to sync it, it says it's syncing. Once my ipod screen is back to normal my pc says there is an unknown error that ocurred.

What is the exact wording of the error message?

  • Why won't my ipod sync no matter what I try in support?

I've followed all error support for error 13019 on my 6gen nano and tried resetting, restarting, completely clearing my iPod and reinstalling and absolutely nothing works. Are there any other radical ways that may be able to fix this?

Did this work before with this iPod and that computer, and is not working now for some reason?  Or is this the first time you are trying to use this iPod with that computer?
Is the latest version of iTunes installed, downloaded from here?
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/
If you are using a USB hub, try a direct connection to USB port on computer.  Also, you can try shutting down (powering off) your computer and disconnecting all USB devices.  Then, connect only standard USB keyboard and mouse (if used), and start up computer.  Run iTunes and connect the iPod.
completely clearing my iPod and reinstalling and absolutely nothing works.
If that means you did a Restore in iTunes, does that mean the iPod does connect properly and get recognized by iTunes?  And you can complete a Restore successfully using iTunes, with no errors?  The error comes up only when you try to sync (load media) onto the iPod?
If so, go to the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes.  There is a checkbox there that says Enable disk use.  Check it (if currently not checked) and Apply the change.  See if that makes any difference with the syncing problem.
NOTE:  If Enable disk use is already checked, try unchecking it and see if that makes any difference.

  • I can't sync my iPod Touch because of "Unknown error (13019)".

I can't fix the problem without losing my music because I manually manage my music. I looked online how to fix it, and even called Apple, and no-one seems to know what to do because if I use the ways that I was told, I will be losing all the music on my iPod that isn't stored on my current Computer.

Hello to both.  Very good question, hence the 24 hours spent finding it.
I noticed that the total number of songs in itunes, (laptop), differed to the number trying to be synched to the ipod.  After trying just 1 album, which synched perfectly, I tried 2 - ok.  So then 5, then 10 and at 25 albums, error 13019 appeared again.  Then just working back, 1 at a time, there was an album containing a 1 song download, later upgraded to itunes plus, which was in the windows music folder twice - once the original m4p version and also the new m4a version.
I highlighted the "m4p" version, right-clicked and selected "delete".  The subsequent synch worked perfectly and I've had no troubles since.
Reading the on-line pages, it seems there are probably multiple causes of this error.  This was the cause in my case.  Whatever, don't give up - it's probably as simple as this.
    Cheers!

  • Why won't my iPod sync all of my songs?

I have all of my songs checked, and I have it checked under settings that it should sync my whole library. I have enough memory on my iPod, but yet it still will not sync all of my songs and neither will my iPad. Also, I have all the rights to purchased music and my computer is authorized to play them. Can someone please help me? I have erased my iPod twice and tried updating and syncing it but it still won't work.

I didn't ever say it was the problem.  I was trying to get more information as to how your iPod was set up to sync.  That might have led to a solution.   Either way, glad to hear you managed to get it figured out!
