Why won't my iPod sync or charge?

As of yesterday, my iPod will on longer sync to iTunes, or even charge when it is plugged into my computer. I've gone through all of the trouble shooting options apple has (that means restarting computer and iPod, reinstalling iTunes, using a different cable, using a different usb port). I've plugged my iPod into a different computer, and it begins to sync. I've tried another iPod on my computer and it works as well. It seams to be that my iPod and computer will not work together. The iPod isn't even recognized in My Computer. Can anyone help?

had the same prob. i finally figured it out. ( for windows xp)
1. if you use bitdefender or any antivirus ...turn it off ! (bitdefender) turn it off for 15 to 20 mins depending on how long you need to use the ipod.
2. go to ''computer'' icon on your pc. right click and click ''properties''. go to ''hardware'' and to ''device manager''. plug in your ipod touch and go to ''universal serial bus controller' and wait to see if "apple mobile device usb driver' shows up. it should have a red 'X' on it. if not, plug it back in until it does. USE a GENUINE APPLE IPOD CABLE. if that doesnt work, make sure there are no ''yellow questions marks'" if so, uninstall it and plug ipod in PC again and go back to ''universal serial bus controller' and wait to see if "apple mobile device usb driver' shows up. if it does...
3. click on the '"apple mobile device usb driver' a window should pop up saying this driver is ''disable''. click ''enable'' and then the driver should work find. you may hear a sound from your ipod, if it's needs charging the battery icon may appear or you'll see the lightning rod indicating it's charging.
4. now that that is fixed..open up latest version of itunes...it will then pick up and let you start naming your ipod, ( if you've restored it) if you havent, it should work as it did before.
5. IMPORTANT: you have to have ""apple mobile device support'' in your ''add and remove section'', to see if you do. go to ''control panel'' click ''add and remove'' look to see if ''apple mobile device support'' is there. if it's there; 1-4 should work ok.
if not uninstall itunes and reinstall it on your PC with the latest version. if you're using a 64 bit computer make sure you download the 64 bit version. the itune software has the ""apple mobile device support'' in the software.

Why won't the iPod Classic 160GB charge with the iPad charger?

I found out the hard way that the iPad's 10w charger which works on my iPad-1 and on my iPhone 4s and on my iPod Touch *does not* work/provide a charge to my 2nd gen iPod Classic.
I had gone to Europe with a full charge on all of my devices, and on the long flight I used both the iPad and the iPod. Once in Spain, I left the iPod in the hotel safe; the phone and iPad were used throughout my vacation, receiving a charge every day via the 10w charger and European duckhead. The night before I left, I plugged in the iPod, knowing that I would need it for the return flight. Imagine my surprise the next day at the airport when I discovered that the iPod was practically dead. Before boarding, I verified that the charger itself (with the European connector) was still working on both the iPad and iPhone, and it was; but as soon as I connected it to the iPod...nothing.
When I eventually got home to the States, I sat down with both the 10w charger and two or three of the many other USB chargers I have accumulated over the years. With the exception of my ancient firewire connector, every single one will charge every single device-----except for the 10w charging the iPod Classic. The iPad will even get a charge from the non-10w charger; it just takes a very long time to get back to 100%. If I could find my 3rd gen Nano, I would try that, but I'm not sure where it is.
What gives here? Why won't the 10w charger work on the iPod Classic??

I finally got curious enough to get a young person's eyes to read the stuff on the bottom of my iPad Mini charger: 5v 1a which equates to 5W using Ohm's law P=IE (E=IR).
So that beng the max charging rate of a normal USB 2.0 port explains (derived from above posts by Bilbo_cheshire and CMJRoss) why that iPad charger does work when some of the larger iPad chargers do not work with the iPod. The current is limited so it does not cause the iPod to sqeal .

Why won't my iPod sync up with iPhoto though iTunes?

I always have my iPod classic (newest model) syncing everything automatically because of the 160GB storage, including my photo's in iPhoto.
Now, for some unknown reason, when syncing with photos ticked, iTunes displays this message: 'The iPod: "Haydn's iPod" cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found' it took me some time to figure out it was photos and not music, so anyway, why is this? I haven't done anything that I can think would cause this error.

Often, this problem can be fixed if you locate and remove the iPod Photo Cache folder(s). A new one will be recreated the next time you sync Photos with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. Deleting this folder will not remove the original images from your library.

Try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. From iTunes, select the iPad and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad.
There's more to try but let's go a bit at a time.

I have all of my songs checked, and I have it checked under settings that it should sync my whole library. I have enough memory on my iPod, but yet it still will not sync all of my songs and neither will my iPad. Also, I have all the rights to purchased music and my computer is authorized to play them. Have you tried setting your iPod to manually add songs or videos. I found the whole sync thing to be a broken feature that only works when it wants to. With manual you can add any song or video without relying on sync.

Why won't my ipod sync after restoring?

I recently had to restore my laptop so obviously i had to download Itunes again, but now my Ipod won't sync, it connects to the laptop and says preparing sync then it just seems to cancel itself, with no change to my ipod and no messages come up to say if there is any errors or problems.

You can only sync with one computer and the iPod see the computer as a new computer

If all the synced media like apps and music are on the rebuilt computer then just backup the iPod and restore from that backup

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Why won't my iPod sync? "Verifying"

My iPod (32FGB touch) has been stuck and won't sync for a few weeks now. Itunes gets stuck on "Verifying iPod" with the bar on the top of the screen moving but clearlyu nothing happening. The only thing that seems to work is to restore it, but this takes more than four hours and I don't get my listening history on to iTunes. It is really frustrating. What can I do?
