Why won't my iPod touch connect to my iTunes on windows 7?

It has nothing to do with the usb, restarting the computer or ipod, restoring the ipod, or any of that. What else could it be?

It's not an ipod problem. It connects to my computer and charges, it just won't connect to iTunes.
I don't have the newer version of iTunes because it won't let me install it. Whenever I try to update my itunes to the newer version this pops up:

I've seen other people have been having this problem too but nobody has an aswer on how to fix it.
Oh and when I try to import my pictures on here it says there's an error -.-

  • Why won't my iPod touch show up in iTunes or Windows, tried ALL the support troubleshooter "fixes"

    Hi:
I've had this problem since first connecting the Ipod. It won't show in either iTunes nor in Windows explorer/my computer. I've also tried the same
setup on Windows 7, same PC a with a dual-boot with XP Pro setup. I've carried aout all the troubleshooting steps suggested here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 & re-installed all necessary software, latest versions. Can't find any conflicts on PC.....anybody got any suggestions?
    BTW iPod is 3rd. generation.

It turns out that I had to reinstall iTunes from scratch. I got the tip from
iTunes: How to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service on Mac OS X 10.6.8 or Earlier
I'm 95% sure it had to do with me installing Xcode 4 to get the "FileMerge" utility for some other development effort totally unrelated to Xcode.
    Regardless, it's working again.

  • Why won't my ipod touch gen 5 play audio on my Sony speaker dock

Why won't my ipod touch gen 5 play audio on my Sony RDP-X30iP speaker dock. I have bought a lightning adapter and find that there is no audio from the speaker dock and the dock does not charge the ipod.

    - Reset the dock
    - Go to Sony's support site and check to see if they say it will work with a 5G iPod touch (w/adopter).
Also look for a firmware update.
    Sometimes this works:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Or, it just may not be compatible.

  • Why won't my iPod touch (4th gen) no longer connect to wifi?

Yesterday I noticed that my iPod Touch (4th generation) was no longer connected to my home wifi. It can see the network, but it won't connect. There is no error message of any kind, but the spinning wheel thing comes up to the left of the network name and it won't quit. I took my iPod to work today (as I normally do), and it did not join the network there either. Same thing- it saw the network, but would not join. What can I do to fix this problem?

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Why won't my iPod Touch even detect being plugged in?

I have a 32gb 2nd generation iPod touch and everything was fine with it up until two weeks ago.
Everytime I put it on any charging dock or plug it into its original charger cable(with a Samsung usb wall charger base), it either says "Charging is not supported with this accessory" or it won't even detect the charger!! And very occasionally will it charge, but then it'll only charge for a second or two before saying charging isn't supported. And sometimes it will charge for a longer time, but then in the middle of the night, it'll be "unsupported" again and then die! I don't know what's wrong and if I seriously have to go get it checked out and fixed, I'll have spent more money on repairs than on the device itself- POINTLESS! :/

    See the not-charging topic of:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    Have you tried another cable?
Another charging source? Does iTunes see the iPod when you connect to your computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and cracked or broken plastic.

  • Why won't my iPod touch 3rd gen. let me slide to unlock? Could it be fixed for a low price?

I come across my old iPod touch third gen. I charge and boot it up. When it got to the lock screen I couldn't slide it to open. I tried restoring it, and about 15-25 minutes later, it boots up, and I still couldn't open it. I dunno, like 2 years ago, I was charging it. I wanted to listen to my music with my earphones on. But it kept pausing the music, but I don't know why. So I got mad at it, haha, and threw it at the floor. And then I guess it stopped working. A year later maybe, I got an iPad 4th gen. And today I found my old iPod. And then found that it doesn't work. I just want to know if it can be fixed, but I don't think I will use it... There are no Apple Stores in North Dakota, so I don't know. I think the closest one is in Minneapolis, Minnesota. But I can't drive that far..... Just wondering, but doesn't really need to be fixed cuz I have my iPad    I love it so much :) but yeah. Just wondering. Thanks!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Why won't my iPod touch recognize my 30pin cord? (1st generation)

(ipod touch first generation) i plug in my 30pin cord(to charge and to play music on my car stereo) and it wont recognize it. i have to either apply lots of pressure of pushing the plug in and up in order for it to connect. i used rubber bands to hold the cord in tight but now it doesnt even work with them on. i was lucky enough to find a sweet spot if i angle the plug in then it will connect but that only works when i charge it from my computer. If i try that in my car then when i drive the car bumps it out of place and i cant listen to music without it stopping every now and then. i dont know whats wrong with it? maybe its broken? time for a new ipod touch?

    - Have you tried another cable?
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
    - If the dock connector is bad there are some thrid-party places that will replace the connector. Google for them. It might not be worth it for a 1G iPod.

  • Why won't my iPod shuffle connect to itunes?

I just bought the iPod Shuffle 4th Generation and downloaded iTunes onto my laptop today. The Shuffle won't connect to my iTunes or my computer properly.
When I connected it to the computer (Windows 7), it said "unable to sync device" or something like that. I know it's not my USB ports because everything seems to work with it EXCEPT for the Shuffle. In iTunes, the Shuffle won't even show up in the devices. It's not my first time using iTunes. I used to have it on my old computer, but this is the first time this has ever happened to me. In terms of the Shuffle itself, I turned it on and pressed play and it just keeps saying "please use iTunes to music onto this device"
I already tried the troubleshooting guide, but that doesn't seem to work either ...

If that error message says "unknown device" (it's not about syncing), the cause may be iTunes not being installed properly.  When iTunes is installed, it also installs drivers that allow Windows to recognize iPods.  You should try installing iTunes again.  You can download the latest iTunes installer here
    https://www.apple.com/itunes/
If that does not help, you may need to completely uninstall iTunes (and related components), then reinstall
