Why won't my iTunes open?

Question

I just recently updated my iTunes to the newest version and it won't open, just shows me the message "To protect your computer, Windows has closed this program." Followed by the usual "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close" window.
Says the error signature is:

and that the folling files will be included in the error report:

C:\DOCUME~1\CJK\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER60ba.dir00\appcompat.txt
Any idea what I can do?
I'm on Windows xp.

To answer my own problem for anyone experiencing something similar, I did a lot of different things to try to get it to work but I think updating my graphics card driver helped and playing around with compatibility mode. I right clicked on the itunes logo and went to properties then the compatibility tab and chose to run the program in compatability mode for windows 95 then tried to open it, I noticed that it crashed instantly if I had the phone plugged in when I opened it, I unplugged it and opened it and still had problems, i tried the other options in compatibility mode, just ticked them all and it opened ok, then I unchecked them all including run in compatibility mode and opened it, it said Apple Mobile Device wasn't started so I couldn't open the phone in iTunes so i right clicked on the my computer logo, clicked manage clicked services and applications then services and right click, properties on Apple Mobile Device and change start up type to automatic and click ok then to the left with AMD selected I chose start the service, ok'd it and closed it and reopened and it worked.
I know this isn't a great walkthrough but I really couldnt say exactly what fixed it because it seemed just playing with settings kind of knocked it back into working bit by bit, no solid evidence of what exactly fixed it but I hope this helps anyone that may be experiencing what I was. Good luck!
