Why won't my iTunes recognize my iphone?

My itunes library recently just stopped recognizing my iphone. I restarted my phone and pc and that still did not help. I also ran the diagnostics test through itunes and it said that my iphone was not plugged it.

Make sure your iTunes is up to date, make sure there is nothing else plugged into your computer's USB ports, if that doesn't work try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and try syncing again.

  • Why won't my computer recognize my iphone 5?

I have an iphone 5 that in the past has had no trouble connecting to my windows computer. Recentlly though, it is syncing my pictures and music just fine though wifi, but when I try to plug it in through the USB port, my computer nor itunes recognizes my iphone. When I pull up the computer folder, all I see is "icloud photos" system folder, where my iphone should be.
    Things I have tried:
    1. I am running version 11 of itunes, and no updates are required.
    2. Turning my iphone on and off
    3. Restarting my comptuer
    4. Restarting itunes
    5. Turning off and on the Apple Mobile service and also making sure it is set to starting automatically
I have not uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes but that will be next step. I'm not sure if that is necessary. When I run the itunes diagnostic, it says it doesn't recognize an apple device connected to it.
I am running Windows XP if that helps. My iphone does not have the latest upgrade because I need to delete its photo library though itunes before I can download it. And I can't do that unti iTunes and my computer recognize my phone.
    Appreciate any help!

  • Why won't i tunes recognize my iphone 4s

Why wont Itunes recognize my phone?

    Here is the troubleshooter:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591
The most likely reason is your Mac's iTunes is not current.  The current version is iTunes 11.1.5.

  • Why won't my itunes recognize that there is an update for ios 7

I tried to update my phone to the iOS 7 last night but couldn't so tried again this afternoon but my itunes won't say there is a new update for iOS 7. My itunes now says that I have the current version (6.1.3) and that itunes will check again on 9/21. What can be done?

Unfortunately there is little you can do here but keep waiting for the update to appear in either the Software update in the Settings app or in iTunes.

  • Why won't my itunes find my iphone 4

okay I just got my iphone at christmas and I have tried constantly tried to sync it with my itunes on my windows 7 but itunes claims that the apple mobile device service is not started and to a point that is true. what happens is before I connect th eiphone and start itunes it is running but after I start itunes or connect the iphone it disables itself and I get the error 1067 when I try to re-enable it manually. I have reinstalled itunes over 6 times, and Apple Mobile Device Support, and the application support, and anything else related to apple then reinstalled it all again.
I also tried with my Windows XP (Virtual PC for win 7) and it detects it there and syncs until the end where it freezes the sync.
    I have:
    iphone 4
    ios 5.0.1 (came factory installed)
    windows 7 32-bit ultimate
If there is any more info I can give I will

  • I am a new iPhone 4s owner. I have a tone in iTunes that I downloaded from the web as a m4r file. Why won't it sync to my iPhone so I can set it as a ringtone.

I am a new iPhone 4s owner. I have a tone in iTunes that I downloaded from the web as a m4r file. Why won't it sync to my iPhone so I can set it as a ringtone?
    Lois

Yes, the tone is available and checked in iTunes under the Tones library.
Yes, it is also listed under the Tones tab for my iPhone, but it is grayed out.
Yes, tones are selected under "sources" in General Preferences, along with everything else.
SyncTones was NOT selected under the Tones tab for my iPhone. I did so and it synced.
    Thanks for your help!

I tried all the recommendations with AMDS and uninstalling itunes and then reinstalling it. Is there a way to install an older version of itunes that works?

Why won't podcast app work on iPhone 5 after ios 8.1.3 update?
I've restarted the phone and itunes several times, have uninstalled and reinstalled the app on the phone and itunes separately, and it still just shows 'Installing" under the greyed out app.

I have the same problem with an iPhone 5s. All podcast fail to work on the phone since updating to iOS 8.1.3. What is going on? Is Apple taking this problem serious?

  • Why won't my Itunes update to 11.4 It always asks to restart but once i restart it, it just goes back to saying i need to update it again?

Why won't my Itunes update to 11.4 It always asks to restart but once i restart it, it just goes back to saying i need to update it again?

    Looks like you have a 3G not a 3Gs...
Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and “ Check for Updates “...
If an Update Appears Install it... if not... you are up to date for your particular Device...
iPhone 3G can only go to iOS 4.2.1

  • Why won't my laptop recognize my iPod nano second generation when I plug it in via USB? It does recognize my ipad mini. I was hoping to transfer music from my iPod to my ad mini

Why won't my laptop recognize my iPod nano second generation when I plug it in via USB? It does recognize my ipad mini. I was hoping to transfer music from my iPod to my ipad mini

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
    4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. You can use some third party software like this iPod file transfer, it can help you copy files from iPod to computer, and then you can use iTunes to sync the music to your iPad mini.
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

Why doesn't my iTunes recognize my "Songs for Japan" CD,
iTunes gets information about all CDs from a database called Gracenote (which has nothing to do with iTunes/Apple), but if no one has entered the information about that CD into Gracenote, that's why your iTunes cannot fill in the track names. You could send that information to Gracenote yourself by completing the track names and artists and then clicking on Advanced/Submit CD track names. That would help everyone else in the future.
    However, you then go on to say;
burtontexjap wrote:Recently my computer's iTunes doesn't recognize any artists, even the ones I've uploaded before.
If your iTunes cannot get any track information for any CD, then either your iTunes isn't connected to the internet, or your iTunes setting have changed. To check your iTunes settings, go into Edit/Preferences/General and look at the tick-box (check-box) named Automatically retrieve CD track names from the internet. There should be a tick (check-mark) in the box.

  • Why won't my MAC recognize a DVD with JPG...HELP!!!

I have received 3 different DVD's from this photographer in an effort for me to be able to view my pictures.  None of them work!!  She has now given me a cd and it works fine!?!!?  Why won't my Mac recognize the DVDs??

A friend of mine turns out a lot of DVD's for and organization that he does photo work for and he has found
that burning DVD + or - can make a diferance along with the age of the player and he has gone back to
burning them at the slowest speed possible. (people in the organization sends him old pictures that he fixes
then burnes a DVD for them and returnes the pictures and DVD.)
