Why won't my mailbox load?

When I sign in to .Mac (using a 17" iMac running OS X.4.9) my mailbox will not load properly. The messages are all over the place, as are the command buttons, which do not work.

Please clarify. Are you talking about Mac OS X’s Mail or about .Mac mail on the web?

    I recently bought a MacBook Pro running OS 10.7.5 Lion, and fonts that I purchased in the past and used on my old PowerBook won't load using FontBook!? Take for instance, Cachet. When I do a get info on the all the files in the Cachet font folder, they don't even say what kind of font they are, e.g., TrueType, Postscript Type 1, etc. I probably purchased Postscript. And the thumbnails are blank icons too.

    i run into the same problem the last days.
    using bootstrap and the fontawesome iconfonts.
    everythings fine with chrome an ie, but no fonticons with firefox...
    found alot of solutions, but none of them worked.
    then, using the webdeveloper console (i used firebug all the time before) i see the error why the webfont was not loaded:

    yes, the site is behind a '''htaccess''' login.
    first load after login is => everything ok!
    after following an internal link => no webfonts!
    after disabeling the htaccess login, everything works fine!
    but that can only be a workaround!
    why firefox didnt recognize the login/authorization like chrome does?!
    what todo if you have your site behind htaccess and want to use webfonts?!

  • Why won't my Playlist load onto my iPod Nano

    Hi, I have been given a 1GB iPod nano as a present but being computer iliterate cannot figure out how to put music from iTunes on the iPod. I have, using CD's & some songs from iTunes Stores built a playlist of my favourite tracks. However, although my list has 95 songs on it, it will only load 22 of these onto my iPod. What am I doing wrong !! I am using iTunes 7.02 so have the most up-to-date software but don't know why I can't get the rest of my songs onto the iPod. If someone can tell me in english how to do this, I would be most grateful ! I have also tried deleting the songs from the iPod and starting again but iTunes won't allow me to delete these either!     In iTunes under the import tab, it says:
    On CD Insert: Ask to import CD
    Import Using: AAC Encode
    Setting: High Quality (128kbs)
    Details: 64 kbps (mono)/128 kbps (stereo)
    underneath this, the 1st 3 boxs are ticked.
    When I right-click on some of the songs in itunes here is the response:
    1 of the songs that did load onto my ipod (orignally on my old MP3 player):
    Size 2.2MB / Format MPEG-1 , Layer 3
    1 of the songs that did load onto my ipod from a CD:
    Size 3.1MB / Kind AAC Audio File
    I purchased 2 songs from iTunes - neither of which went onto my iPod, Here is the info for 1 of these:
    Size 3.5MB / Kind Protected AAC audio file
    1 of the songs that did not load onto my ipod from a CD:
    Size 4.5MB / Kind AAC audio file (I copied 3 songs from this particular album and 1 went onto my iPod but this one and another did not.)
    I never had this problem with my old MP3 Player. I presume there is a way around this with iTunes ?? Otherwise, will be reverting back to my old MP3 !

  • Why won't my podcasts load to my ipod

    I reset my ipod a week ago and now the podcasts won't load.  The podcasts are visible in the iTunes software and when I press sync it looks like there are loats more things going to be loaded, but then the graphice at the bottom of the iTunes page goes back down again and won't load the stuff.  The items are all ticked in the iTunes dialogue, so i don't understand why they won't load.  I tried iCloud but went back to the pc loading as well but can't see how that can make any difference.

    You can only sync apps from the one syncing computer you can have.
    Did you setup the iPod via wifi?
    Have you tried restoring from backup on this computer/iTunes library?
    The app assume the apps are compatible with your iPod

    I have deleted a mailbox (account) in Mail repeatedly, several different ways, and it never goes away.
    ==== HOW I DELETE =====
    I am trying to delete it 3 ways:
    Right click on the mailbox (see image). It doesn't respond. Mailbox is still there. I close and re-launch mail each time, to no avail.
    Select the mailbox, then click the Gear for options; choose "delete mailbox" (this is enabled). It doesn't respond. Mailbox is still there. I close and re-launch mail each time, to no avail.
    When I move-to-trash what appears to be the folder for the account (Library > Mail > V2 > [email protected]@pop.1and1.com), and when I open Mail again, this folder is recreated. I left a finder window open and watched it get recreated. I have even emptied my trash.
    ==== RECENT CHANGE =====
    I use Mail on my company MBP for my corp email, hosted by 1and1.com.
    It was set up to POP; I wanted to change that to IMAP.
    Following a few different discussion thread suggestions, I added the account again as IMAP.
    I'm now trying to delete the POP. At the moment, I have two mailboxes.
    ^^ those steps seem to have created something odd.
    1.) Any way that I try to delete the POP account, it won't delete.
    2.) It won't even give me the option to delete the IMAP account I just created. (It's not an option when I right click on the IMAP one; if I selet it, then click the gear, "delete mailbox" is greyed out.

    I have checked the permissions on these folders, and I have Read/Write permissions for all of them:
    Library > Mail
    LIbrary > Mail > V2  (I don't know what this is, but there are no other folders inside "Mail")
    LIbrary > Mail > V2 > mailboxes
    LIbrary > Mail > V2 > [email protected]@pop.1and1.com
    LIbrary > Mail > V2 > [email protected]@imap.1and1.com
    I don't see anything there that I don't have read/write permissions for.
    Any suggestions?

    You can't delete mailboxes under Mail's main mailboxes. You can only do this with local mailboxes you create. If you do delete it, it will be recreated.
    What you need to do is open Mail's preferences, go to the Accounts tab, select the account, and either disable it under the Advanced tab if you want to keep it for later, or choose the "-" sign at the bottom of the accounts windwo and delete the account.
    Once you add and IMAP account, you will need to map the IMAP mailboxes under the account folder with Mail's main mailboxes for them to have total sync with all devices. Example is to select and highlight the Sent Mailbox under the IMAP folder in the sidebar and go to the menu, Mailboxes, and select Use This Mailbox For > Sent. The Inbox is automatically done, but you will need to do this for the rest of them you want syncing.

    Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Sometimes the cause of the problem may be an outage in Apple's network, in which case none of the steps below will have any effect. You just have to wait for the outage to be fixed. That should rarely, if ever, take more than a few hours.
    Step 1
    Sign in to the App Store by selecting Sign In from the Store menu. If you're already signed in, sign out and then sign in again.
    Step 2
    Log out or restart the computer.
    Step 3
    Remove or disable "LittleSnitch" or any similar third-party software that blocks outgoing network connections according to the developer's instructions.
    Step 4
    Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem.
    Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode.)
    Step 5
    If possible, connect to a different network and test.
    Step 6
    There are reports that resetting the PRAM may solve the problem in some cases. I can't confirm.

    If applications are not downloading to your iPhone, try the suggestion from this discussion thread first:

    Try tapping the App, so that it changes to Paused instead of Waiting, then tap it again to resume the install.
    Make sure you don't have any paused downloads in other apps either, like the App Store or iTunes Store.

    Restart your device
    Turn the device off and on.

  • Why won't my OS load on my new HD

    My computer started locking up on certain programs, then just got the spinning icon.  Rebooted, nothing.  Ordered a bigger hard drive, could not load OS on it or restore from TM back up. TRIED EVERYTHING several times...  Finally got the OS to load by putting the new hard drive in my dock also got my TM restored by using a SATA/IDE cable.  Once I put the HD back in the lap top.. everything was moving very slowly.. if I could get things to open or work at all.  Took the HD back out, hooked it up with the SATA / IDE cable, booted from that.. and it works like a champ.  WHAT could be wrong with this laptop????  Going to take it in to the Apple store if no one can suggest anything! I've been working on this for 2 days and nights.. uuuuugh! Oh this same thing happend last year as well, thinking I might have a lemon!

    You're welcome. Once the update and HD free space questions are out of the way, that was a prime suspect. As I said, these cables/connectors are known for being flaky, so try to keep that in mind if anything like this happens again, whether tomorrow or next year. Curious, did they charge you for replacing it?

  • Why won't youtube videos load on my mac?

    I recently purchased a macbook pro with retina and i can't seem to be able to watch youtube videos. The problem is not all the plug ins and everything, I have all of those, the problem is that they won't load. Maybe a few seconds of the video will load and then it will stop to buffer. My internet connection is perfectly fine considering I just watched several movies streaming on Netflix and websites have no trouble loading. Sometimes putting videos in their lowest resolution works but I have this nice and fancy retina display and I'd sure like to utilize it. Any help?

    1.  Enable Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Internet Plug-ins >  "Allow all other plug-ins
    2. Check  whether you are currently  in  YouTube HTML 5 trial.

        At the bottom  left of the page  uncheck the box for
       "You are currently in the HTML5 trial".
    3. Reset Safari / delete cookies.
        Click Safari in the menu bar.
        From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
        Uncheck the boxes next to all items.
        Check the box next to "Remove all website data".
        Click "Reset".

  • Why won't my playlist load in the order I've chosen?

    I've run into a problem today. (it's my first since purchasing)
    I've been trying to get my playlist to play in the order I've chosen and it just won't. I've made sure to click and unclick shuffle on/off, play playlist once, repeat or 1 song....nothing seems to work. It's disappointing because it's actually a workout compilation I like and it should really play in order. (for intensity)
    Do I need to Reset my player? Reinstall iTunes?

    Specifics: I Imported a CD called Massive Dance Hits 2000 (disc 2)  It is In Order as it loads. Then, when trying to Sync playlist (which is In Order) onto the shuffle the tunes are out of order. (defeats the purpose of the compilation) Had a friend go through many different scenarios with me this evening; none of them worked. Also, this album is not available on iTunes or I would have just bought it. Should I just give up on this one CD? Perhaps it's because it is by Various Artists and iTunes/Shuffle doesn't know how to sync up when transferring. (?)

    Hello. I hope someone can tell me what is wrong with my browser, because it's been doing weird things. Since yesterday, my browser has been loading without the address bar. I'll hit Command T to access Top Sites in another tab. The space where the address bar is supposed to be is blank. The Top Sites are there. When I click on a page, the browser gets stuck and will not open the site. Or it will access the site, but the page is dim and frozen. I have to restart my computer to get the browser working again. It's happening frequently since yesterday. I've never seen my browser malfunction like this before. Please tell me what is wrong? I have attached screenshots of the problem. Thanks for the help.
    FYI, I was informed months ago that Apple won't be sending me software updates anymore, so my browser has not been updated since a year or maybe more.

    Yes, no further updates for Leopard, and if yours is a PPC iMac that is as far as it can go. If it is an Intel iMac you could upgrade to Snow Leopard.
    Try deleting Safari's Preference file from Home/Library/Preferences, then repairing permissions, then rebooting.
    Reset your Safari preferences, such as the toolbar etc. OK now?

    Upgraded to Firefox6 a week ago when "suggested" by pop-up screen. Since then, computer will not open gmail using Mozilla but will access it through IE. I get the following message:-
