Why won't my mp3s import?

When I try to import an mp3 from the desktop of my Mac to my iTunes, there is no result. Does this have nothing to do with 'privileges?' I know nothing about them. The icons of the mp3s are the little iTunes symbol with an 'mp3.' Does that help?
Any and all information is appreciated.

Me too. Same problem, and I have a brand new MacBook Pro with the latest version of OSX and iTunes (latest update only two days ago). Strange thing is that my son who has an Intel iMac with the same software can import the very same MP3s that I can´t. I have tried to delete the com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist, com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist and com.apple.iTunes.plist, which seems to help in some instances, but with no effect in my case.
Are you both using iTunes 8 ?
iTunes>File>Add to library> clicked on the disc in the window and highlighted all the folders.
..this didn't work?
It's really to bad we can't import Grab pics to just show what happens in the Discussion Forum

  • Why won't my mpeg import into imovie?

    Hi,
Just got a new macbookpro 17inch. Liking it but having to learn the switch to mac. I have an mpeg file i want to try to resize, but imovie doesn't seem to recognize it at all. I thought macs were supposed to be the computers where everything just worked. Why won't it let me take this in? I thought mpegs were fairly common and quicktime has no problem opening it. Am I using the wrong program? Do I need to go back onto my ancient Toshiba and use Windows Movie Maker just to resize a video?

I wonder why apple didn't just make it so that imovie could read those files. If windows movie maker can than it must be possible to do. Wouldn't they have anticipated that someone might take video on a hand held camera and then want to edit that video in some way? Is there some reason or advantage of them having made it this way instead of not just making the program do everything that someone might want to do?
There is a problem regarding the difference in technologies. QT Is Apple's proprietary multimedia software system. It is modeled on magnetic film strips and/or video tape which employ separate audio and video heads/tracks for playback. MPEG-1 files, on the other hand, contain a single stream of data which is composed of interspersed blocks of audio and video data. Thus, the different technologies require different "engines" to work properly. Since Apple only supports its own technology base as it applies to rigid standards, anything outside this scope is not supported. For instance, QT is very particular when it comes to files being properly terminated and proper time coded while muxed formats like MPEG-1, MPEG-2, VOB, Flash, etc. files are notorious for having broken time codes since these files rely on the physical interspersing of data blocks. Windows files are also very rely on FourCC codes/extension for proper playback while QT files frequently rely on the specific data instead for proper playback. In addition, files like MPEG-2 are edited at the GOP (group of pictures) level which normally consist of a repeated cycle of I-, P-, and B-frame types (e.g., IBBPBBPBBPBBPBB) while QT files are edited at the individual frame level. And so on and so forth. While some applications may contain "hybrid" engines to handle multiple technologies, Apple has typically supported its own technologies. They are, for instance, not in the habit of supporting codecs contained in the AVI file container which Microsoft dropped a decade ago but which is still in such common use by Windows users that it has not been allowed to die a dignified death. In short, Apple is looking ahead to the new codecs which are highly scalable and very versatile in terms of data rates/file size efficiency which can handle anything from e-mail clips up to SD content and beyond to full HD encodings. While an MPEG-1 VCD may offer compatibility with a wide range of older devices it does not offer the same quality to storage capacity ratio offered by H.264/AAC encoded files.
how did you quote just specific parts and make them blue.
I use the Level 4 mini text editor.
Are you typing in your own html codes or something?
Sometimes. For instance, the new forms are not as HTML "quote" or "line feed" friendly as the old forum. So I no longer indent the blue quoted text and use the "
" (paragraph) to add additional line spacing.

I'm very annooyed; could it be that I need to update or is thte movie size too large? If so, is there anything I can do about it?

  • Why won't album artwork import from a CD into Mac iTunes?

I used to have a Windows version of iTunes, and when I imported CDs, the album artwork was automatically added. However, now I'm using Mac iTunes on an iBook, and when I import the very same CDs, no album artwork is added on any of them. I've also noticed that when I transfer the archived songs from the Windows hard drive (via a flash drive) to the Mac iTunes, the artwork is there -- it's just not adding the artwork when I import the CDs directly into Mac iTunes. Is there a setting I'm missing?

Standard Audio CDs don't come with artwork.
Some recent CDs might, but I've never seen them.
I guess there was an iTunes plug-in or similar utility on your PC that searched for artwork and added it.
To add artwork on a Mac there are several scripts (www.dougscript.com) and programs that can find it for you.
Search on versiontracker.com for Clutter, iTunescool, Fetch Art

  • Why won't new files import into LR 3.6?

So, there are a couple of new .TIFs that I want to import into an existing LR folder.  Under Import the window shows both of those new files, each checked, as the only ones not already in the LR library.  So I click on import and one of three things happens:  (1) they immediately import, (2) the window goes blank forever except for a message that there's nothing to import, (3) the window goes blank forever with a message "Import in progress...".  This is infuriating, expecially since there appears to be no way to escape from this infinite import loop. Note:  the newly named files open perfectly in PhotoShop when it is invoked outside of LR.  What is LR seeing that PS is not seeing, and how do I correct this bug? Or at least make an orderly retreat from the infinite loop?

  • Why won't an MP3 file play on a bluetooth boombox?

Hello, I tried to pair a boombox with a new Macbook Pro (for the first time) with the boombox close to the computer & Bluetooth turned on. The proper words appear on the boombox display and the necessary blue light is on. Running OS 10.9.4, in Bluetooth Preferences the boombox model # appears as a Bluetooth device & is connected. When I "Send File to Device..." using Bluetooth File Exchange v.4.2.6 (4.2.6f1), the MP3 file on my Mac doesn't play on the boombox. Sony told me that the bluetooth version of the boombox is 3.0 and it will connect only to a device having the same bluetooth profile.
Their specs. on the Operating Instructions say: The audio formats supported by this unit are as follows: MP3: file extension “.mp3”; WMA: file extension “.wma”.
Compatibility requirements for the devices are as follows. Before using with this unit, check that your device meets the requirements.
Devices must conform to BLUETOOTH Standard version 3.0.Devices must support A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) and AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile). NFC capability (required only when using the NFC pairing function of the unit).
Can anyone kindly suggest how to troubleshoot this issue?
Also, could I ever play more than one music file (on the computer) at a time through the boombox? Thank you so much for any ideas.

Hi photosr4me! If it did not work after pairing, you need to contact Apple Support here for assistance on how to setup an audio system as speakers for your Macbook Pro.

  • Why won't my itunes import aac files i've downloaded nor will it even play them

For years i download off a website audiobooks and magazines in aac format from a website.  I name and save the file and then when it downloads i open it and it automatically would open in itunes and then remain in itunes.  I could then sync it to my ipod, iphone.  Simple, easy.  All of a sudden after downloading the last recent itunes software update.  10.3 i think.  everything stopped working.  i download a new files and i can't open them in itunes.  i cant drag it, i cant directly import the file. i cant even open the file using right click open with.  itunes.  I can open the file in windows media player so i know the file is good. I figured something might have been up with that version of itunes so i wanted for a new update, hoping that it would fix it itself.  Didn't work.  So i have the most current version of itunes.  All the files i want in itunes are saved and neatly organized.  i wonder if it's possible to just scrap everything and drag everything into a fresh downloaded version of itunes.

  • FAQ: Why won't After Effects import my PSD file as a composition but flattens it?

from the "Preparing and importing Photoshop files" section of After Effects Help:
"Layered Photoshop (PSD) files need to be saved in RGB or Grayscale color mode for After Effects to import them as a composition and to separate the layers. CMYK, LAB, Duotone, Monotone, and Tritone color modes are not supported for layered files; After Effects will import a file that uses one of these color modes as a single, flattened image."

There's got to be something different with the PSD. Is it RGB? That's the first thing to check. What is the structure of the PSD. Layer Groups? Effects? There are so many things that could go wrong that without more information we would just be guessing.
