Why won't my newly updated QuickTime 7.5 work?

I have Windows XP Pro and have just updated Windows, after the first QuickTime download failed. I have downloaded QuickTime 7.5 and iTunes (several times now, but QuickTime is not working, however, iTunes is working). I have removed QuickTime and re-downloaded, several times now, and the video player still will not work. I am downloading from the Apple site. For awhile an errors window came up saying QuickTime was unavailable to me.
Please help.

Premiere Pro shut down...I didn't have a lot of time to try and work on this today but I did poke around trying to find the preferences and set about to pull up the event log before having to leave. I figured I would give it a look tonight...I opened some of the hidden files trying to find the preferences didn't have much luck...was about to figure out how to pull the event log (never done that before) when I happened to click on an old project file I had from my older version...and the program opened...even better it stayed open.
To my knowledge I did nothing at all other than look in some hidden folders. I have tried a couple of different times now to just open the program from the start menu and it works...now my firewire port is on the blink so I haven't had a chance to actually try the bugger out but I have verified that all seems stable...for now.
Thanks for the input...if I wind up having the trouble again I'll start with your suggestions but hopefully it won't come to that.

What shuts down? The computer or the program? Any messages in the event log?

That's not the issue though.  I have all that already set up.  It's just for my hotmail account.  I have another account that works fine.  It's just annoying to have to see all the same stupid emails on every single device, and then in my hotmail account as well.  Aren't they supposed to be syncing with one another?

    Looks like you have a 3G not a 3Gs...
Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and “ Check for Updates “...
If an Update Appears Install it... if not... you are up to date for your particular Device...

Why won't my apps update on my ipad? I have 7 updates waiting to go and when I click on them they all say they are installing but they have never completed their installation?  Please help

    Try resetting ...
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
You won't lose any data as a result of a reset.

  • Why won't a 2TB W.D. Black Drive Work in my G5 Power Mac?

Why won't a 2TB W.D. Black Drive Work in my G5 Power Mac?
It's a  Western Digital 2 TB Caviar Black SATA III    WD2002FAE
My G5 Power Mac can not "see" this new drive.   As a test, I installed this drive in my Intel Mac Pro and it works perfectly.
On the back of the drive their Pins where one can install a jumper.  Western Digital provided no jumpers.
    Suggestions appreciated.

It's the SATA speed, G5's only deal with Sata I/1.5GB/s, try a jumper on pins 5 & 6 to slow it down... and if you made it GUID on the Mac Pro the G5 won't see it on the Desktop, but Disk Utility might see it & let you Partition it APM.
But I still don't know if the SATA 6.0Gb/s drive will slow to only SATA2, or what, at one time OWC had a warning that the 64MB Caxhe WD models wouldn't work on G5s, but I no longer find that...

This drive is SATA 6G (3G/1.5G Compatible) ...
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Hitachi/0F12115/
But may depend on the Mac's HW/SW to detect/tell the drive what speed it can handle.

  • Why won't my apps update now that I have updated to iOS 7? The are stuck in "waiting." And how do I fix it?

I updated to the iOS 7 and now several apps, iBooks included, won't finish the update. I can't delete and re-download because they are stuck in "waiting." Also, I can't seem to reload apps sent to cloud back to my phone.
Storage isn't the issue because I have checked that. Or at least in the surface it doesn't appear to be. Any other trouble shooting ideas are appreciated.

I found that what worked to correct this issue on my iPhone 4S was to turn off automatic app updates. I went to Settings - iTunes & App Store - and under Automatic Downloads, switched Updates to off. My apps that were stuck in 'Waiting' immediately began downloading.
Although I would like to be able to use the automatic update feature, at least I found a fix to the 'waiting' issue for now.

  • Why do I need to update Quicktime time player to download iTunes?

I just had a new hard drive installed on my iMac.  I used a my latest time machine back up to restore the hard drive.  Now when I try to open iTunes I get a message that I need to update Quicktime player.  My iMac is a 24" early 2008 running Leopard.

I understand that I need Quicktime Player, I don't understand what happened after restoring from time machine.  Everything else showed up fine except for iTunes.  Hopefully all my music is not lost.

  • Why Won't The Latest Update for iCloud Install?

    Hi.
Apple keeps trying to update iCloud, but even after updating iTunes, QuickTime, and my iPhone  successfully, the iCloud update still won't install.  It bombs out at the end in the "validating installation" step, and says there is something wrong with the installer file, and rolls back the attempted installation. This keeps happening with the automatic update, wither I let it run automatically or select the "download only" option and then run the update myself.  And, this happens when I go to the iCloud website and download the latest version, to try to manually install that.
How can I get a good copy of the iCloud update package?
    Thanks,
    Calen

    Hey calenfromalbuquerque,
I see that you’re having some issues with an attempted update to iCloud Control Panel for Windows. Since this is happening when you are attempting to update iCloud Control Panel through the automatic update process and when attempting to manually update the program, this issue could possibly stem from interference with security software on your computer. I have an article for you that addresses this issue and has some troubleshooting steps for you to try in order to resolve it:

  • Why won't a VERY LARGE QUICKTIME file play on my powerbook?

i have a large .mov file on disk (in the vicinity of 3 GB) that appears to be non-functional.
after inserting the data dvd into my computer, my powerbook will recognize the file as a quicktime file but it won't play.
    this is what happens:
    (1) it is not able to calculate its size
    (2) when i double-click the file, QUICKTIME PRO opens but the following error message appears: "the movie could not be opened. the file is not a movie file."
i ran the disk over to a friend's macbook pro, and experienced the same problems, so i'm thinking that it's not my powerbook, but i have a hard time accepting that the problem is with the disk since it was generated by a professional service who created three data disks for me in all, of which one of them works (it's a disk where all of the .mov files are under 1.6 gb) while the other two disks (each of which contain files that are larger than 1.6 gb) do not work.
does anyone know what could be causing this problem? any ideas of how i can resolve this?
is it possible that powerbooks and macbook pros are not powerful enough to handle this kind of file?
any help would be greatly appreciated. btw, i'm using the most recent version of QUICKTIME PRO and i've recently updated my codec library, so i should have that covered (plus, none of the error messages mention anything about missing codecs).
    thanks again.

thanks for responding. that's good to know that a 3+ GB file works on your machine, but this particular problem is not yet solved.
we can now say that it may not be the file size.
when i open the disk on a macbook pro and let it sit there for 25 minutes or so, the computer is still not able to estimate the file size but it does recognize the file as a QuickTime file.
when i attempt to drag the file onto the desktop, the following COPY error message comes up: "SORRY, THE OPERATION COULD NOT BE COMPLETED BECAUSE AN UNEXPECTED ERROR OCCURED (CODE -50)."
as i mentioned earlier, the other disk that was generated during this session works fine (however, that particular disk contained several smaller QuickTime files while the problem disc contains only ONE LARGE QuickTime file).
thanks very much to anyone who can provide me with some help.

  • Why won't my computer update ilife '11?

I have iLife '11, and it won't update.
in the past i had a similar problem with iWork, and i found the solution. I had moved iWork from its default folder and the updater couldn't find the apps.
so i think i did the same thing here.
after i put iwork back into a folder similarly named as the original root folder it was in, it updated just fine.
so what i need is someone to ever so kindly help me by telling me how the iLife apps should be placed in the folders in the application folders so the updater can find them you'd think it would just need to be in a folder labeled "iLife '11" but that obviously isn't working.
anyone with tips would be greatly appreciated, or if you could tell me how i should place and name my ilife apps in these folders, that would help loads too.
hoping i can solve this. its so annoying having lion on my macbook pro and not having all the updates :-(
    -chris

    Hey Chris,
All Apple Applications should be installed in Macintosh HD > Applications.
When you got your computer from Apple the following iLife programs were sitting in that location (no additional folders):
    iPhoto.app
    iMovie.app
    iDVD.app
    Garageband.app
    iWeb.app
--NOTE: I add the ".app" extension to differentiate from other files that might show up on the computer if you were to search for "iphoto".  .app is the application which is what must be in Macintosh HD > Applications.
Check in that folder and ensure those programs are sitting in there.  If not, search the computer for them and drag them back.
If you still can't download your updates you may want to download them manually by program from http://support.apple.com/downloads/#macosandsoftware.
    Hope that helps.
