Why won't my photoshop elements open?

I used my photoshop elements the other day without any problem. But now it won't open. I try clicking on the icon & nothing happens. Any clue? Everything else on my computer is running fine so I really think it's an issue with the program. Mahalo!

Hi,
Which version of Photoshop Elements are you trying to use?
Which operating system are you running on?

Why won't my photoshop elements 10 load?

    Hi Brian,
    Continuing this saga:
What does it mean to uninstall & reinstall PSE 10?
I did that, renaming SLStores not a fix, Disappointed (not shocked) at result:
Editor still hangs on loading, just as before. But real mystery is that it lauches directly into Organizer. No welcome screen. This was setting I had changed in attempted fix, trying to maybe get to Editor via Organizer. Obviously not what program is supposed to do out-of-box, nor what it does on my xp laptop.
Some file or files not deleted in uninstall were used at launch. It is not the setting or pref going straight to Org that is the problem. That was created as attempted solution.
But this shows the persistence of mystery file(s) that ARE probably the cause. What & where are they?
-- Is there a way to find the files used when launch attempted? Event viewer doesn't afaik.I know how to find "modified", but not same oc.
-- Application Data & Local Application Data have Adobe folders, some specific to Elements. I should have deleted these in uninstall, have since deleted obvious ones. I may delete everyting Adobe.
-- I would try install on my D drive but often programs wont work from there, and bad file on C might still get in the way. Any thoughts?
    Your persistence is welcome!

  • Why won't my Photoshop Elements 11 install?

After entering the Serial # and my Adobe ID, I get to the Options tab on the installation. There is a grey checkmark next to Adobe Photoshop Element... which I can't click, I also can't click on All Components at the top, but, I can choose the Location: /Applications. When I click the Install Button, nothing happens.
I am on a Mac Mini 2.3 GHz Core i5 with 8 GB Memory running OS X 10.8.2 and 240 GB available on the HD

    Hi,
    1. Since PSE is the only application to install on this install options screen, the check-box would always come checked & a user can not uncheck it
    2. All components comes as unchecked and greyed out since there are no optional STIs available for a user to check/uncheck, so, this is expected. Please do not worry about these two points.
    3. Nothing happens on clicking on install - this is strange. After clicking on install, you should be shown a native/os dialogue, asking for your machine password, after which the installation would start. You might like to restart your system just to be sure that the machine hasn't gone into a bad state.
Then try installing once again please; you may just choose to install in trial (just for the time being) & choose to skip adobe id - all of it has no impact on the application installation as such but it is just to save your time while you try installing again.
Navigate to install options screen and click Install. Once the application is installed, you may please enter your serial key on its launch.
Incase, you still face issue, please share the following logs here & we shall troubleshoot the issue asap:
    /tmp/amt3.log, oobelib.log
    ~/Library/Logs/PDApp.log
    /Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers/<Adobe*>.gz
    I hope this information helps.
    thanks.

  • Why won't the Photoshop Elements 9 icon on the desktop any longer launch the program?

PE Elements 9 only opens and launches when I click on a photo. This seems to be something new.

Just delete the icon and go into the program files or program files(x86) if you have a 64-bit system, find the actual .exe/application file for the editor or the organizer and right-click it and choose to make a desktop shortcut, then use that to launch PSE in the future. The welcome screen got weird when photoshop.com was discontinued.

  • Why won't my Photoshop CS6 Open.

I've been on other forums looking to solve this problem and they're solutions have not worked for me. I've opened it from almost every destination I can think of as well as forcing it to open and running it as an Administrator. I would like a solution to my problem as soon as possible.

  • Why won't Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 register to my Adobe ID?

I've tried to register the product to my account from within the program (going to Help > Register Product) but it still does not appear in my products and services on my account. This is an issue because I have lost the serial number and have switched laptops. I would like to get Elements 9 on my new computer. Please help.

I don't understand your question so let me try to dissect it step by step:
    1) You have already got PSE8 on your machine but you don't have the serial number.  Is this correct?  If so, have you still got the DVDs for the product?  The serial number should be on the sleeve or the case of the DVD so you can search for it.
    2) You say you want to install PSE9 on a new laptop so I assume you have got the DVD and serial number for it.  Is this correct?  If so, what is the problem you are having when trying to install it?
    3) You haven't said what is your operating system so please reply with this info so that further help can be given.  As to getting the serial number from the old machine for PSE8, you can use Belarc Advisor tool for Windows and this can retrieve the serial number though I am not sure whether it will work for PSE8 because it is a very old program (about 4 years old) and Belarc may not be as sophisticated as it is today.  These tools gets developed almost daily and earlier versions were not so good.

  • Why won't my Adobe Bridge open?

Why won't my Adobe Bridge Open? I keep getting an error message. I first installed the free trial of Illustrator CS 6, but a few days ago joined the creative cloud. I would just uninstall & reinstall Bridge, but its not in the list of apps to install. Since joining the cloud I have also installed photoshop & indesign. Doesn't Adobe have chat support? I used in when first signing up for Cloud. Now I can't find it.
    Thanks!

    Hi Trisher83,
Bridge gets installed along with other programs (like Illustrator or Photohop) so it might require uninstalling all CS6 products to be able to reinstall it.
I would uninstall all CS6 products and then reinstall one which includes Bridge from a new user account and test to see if you still get the error.

  • Why is my adobe photoshop elements 12 not working. it says initializing and then it says there is an error and closes itself

why is my adobe photoshop elements 12 not working. it says initializing then error and shuts itself down.

    Three things you can try:
    1. Clean the superdrive with a proprietory CD/DVD lens cleaner that uses tiny brushes.
    2. Perform an SMC reset:

  • Photoshop Elements opening on startup, despite having shut it down prior to closure.

I am running Elements 13 on a MacBook Air O SX Yosemite version 10.10.
After installation I encountered the following issues.
    1)       Elements 13 Organiser application opened ok and transferred my photos from iPhoto.
    2)       Elements 13 Application opened o.k
    3)       Elements 13 Editor opened o.k
But latterly, when opening Elements 13 application after 1 second, the screen reverts to another copy of Elements 13 Organiser.
I have attempted to check the Installed files, to check if they are in the right location, cannot see any apparent issues.
Additionally on Start-UP  Elements 13 starts automatically despite having quit the programme prior to closure.
Maybe if I completely re-installed Elements 13 the problems might go away.
Your earliest response would be much appreciated.
    Kind Regards     David A Hullin

    Barbara Hi!
    Thanks for your quick response.
Sorry for the confusion regarding 2 Copies of Elements 13 Organiser.
What I intended to say is as follows:
On my Dock, after installing Elements 13, there are three adjacent Buttons for the Elements 13 Application from left to right:-
    1  Elements 13 Organiser
    2  Elements 13
    3  Elements 13 Editor
    MY ISSUES ARE:
    1  Elements Organiser  opens o.k.
    HOWEVER:
2 Elements 13      (To import work from the Elements Organiser),  the following happens:
This section of the application opens only briefly, (1.5 seconds,  headed appropriately  Elements 1  (But immediately reverts to a repeat copy of the Elements Organiser screen) which is activated by Button 1
    Button 3 Elements 13 Editor (opens) O.K.
P.S   Initially the application was working O.K
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind Regards
    David A Hullin

the screen reverts to another copy of Elements 13 Organiser.
What do you mean by this? There is only one copy of Elements 13 organizer installed on any mac.
I would start by deleting the preferences and the saved application states for PSE:

  • Why won't some pdf-files open on tablet/phone?

I simply get the error saying: The document cannot be opened because it's not a valid pdf-document.
However I have no problems opening the file with my laptop, only my phone and tablet (Jellybean 4.2.2) won't open it.
My friends also have managed to open the file on their tablets (android/windows).
Have reinstalled and checked updates and tried other programs but none has worked for me.
I simply have no clue and would appreciate help.

    Hey,
Seems like the problem was in the web browser I was using, as the file just
    didn't download correctly.
Thanks for the help anyway, much appreciated.

    Hey,
spent some time discussing this with some friends of mine and found out
that the document can be opened by downloading it to the computer and
transferring then to the tablet or phone. The difference is that when
downloading with tablet/phone I get a .pdf file, which only has some html
code. So I guess the problem has something to do with the encryption of the
file. Here are the 2 different files I get as attachments. After all this
might not have anything to do with adobe, but some other stuff I don't
    really understand.

  • FAQ: Will Photoshop Elements work with my camera, or Why won't my raw files open?

    What is a raw file?
A raw file is the unprocessed light data that was captured by your camera sensor. The only settings on your camera that apply to this file are aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. This means that any settings you may have applied to the file, such as white balance, or black and white effects, have no effect. Because this sensor data is raw, it must be processed or baked into an actual image file, that's where the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plug-in comes in.
    What is Adobe Camera Raw?
ACR interprets the raw data and makes image information out of it. But every camera has a unique sensor and thus has a unique form of raw file. Even though camera manufactures may use the same file extension each time (e.g. Nikon raw files are always .NEF), each camera model has a different way of storing information. Because of this, we must continually update ACR for new cameras. As we add new cameras to the list (over 300 now) we update our published list of supported cameras. Additionally, with the changes to ACR, newer releases will not always be compatible with older versions of Photoshop Elements.
So, will the my raw files work with Photoshop Elements?
So if you are wondering if your camera is supported by ACR or will work in Photoshop Elements, first check this list:
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Once you know whether your camera is supported by ACR and by which version, check this list to see whether your version of Photoshop Elements supports that version of ACR or later:
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
If your version of Photoshop Elements should open raw files from your camera, make sure you have the latest version of ACR installed. Go to Help > Updates to install the latest ACR release.
You can also manually download and install ACR updates:
    Macintosh
    Windows
What if my camera is not compatible with my version of Photoshop Elements?
Supposing you have a camera that came out after the release of a newer version of Photoshop Elements, so that your version of Elements is no longer recieving updates, you have two basic options:
Purchase the latest version of Photoshop Elements that supports your camera.
Use the latest version of the free DNG Converter (for Macintosh or Windows)
You can convert your files to the universaly compatible DNG format (the files will work with any version of the Camera Raw plug-in). See In depth : Digital Negative (DNG) for more information.
Where are all of the tools and options that I've seen available in tutorial books and videos?
Photoshop Elements has fewer tools and options than it's parent Photoshop. These differences are documented here:
Adobe Camera Raw differences between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements

    Hi Joshua ,
I would like to know few things before I assist you any further.
Which version of Android are you using?
What kind of PDF file it is?
Try uninstalling the app once and they try to reinstall .

  • Why is it that Photoshop Elements takes a very long time to open a png file?

Even though I wait for a very long time (minutes)  for Photoshop Elements 11 to open a PNG file, the computer's process monitor shows nothing discernible going on while I am waiting.
This is on a Windows 7 machine with an Intel I7 4 core processor.

I killed Firefox and Thunderbird and tried it again.  Using a stopwatch, it took 5 minutes 54 seconds to open the file.  In the interim the application windows were frozen.  The process monitor showed Photoshop not responding.  The thread analysis showed a thread waiting on splwow64.exe.
splwow64.exe allows 32-bit applications to connect with the 64-bit printer spooler service on x64 Windows builds.
I should also point out that when I exit Photoshop, it does not seem to die.  I cannot restart it in the normal way.  The starter software just goes away when I click on PE 11.  I finally fo into the task monitor and kull the PhotoshopElements process.  Then I can restart Photoshop Elements.  Although after a long time since I exited PE while I was writing this post, I then just tried opening PE the normal way and it worked.  Many of these items I mention are probably red herrings.
