Why won't my Trash folder sync?

I’ve got an iPhone 3G and use it with my employer’s MS Outlook 2003. The problem I’m having is that the Trash folder won’t sync – it hasn’t sync’d since 19th Jan (no idea of anything significant that happened that day). All of my other folders sync fine.
When I go into the folder it tries to sync:
- It says “Connecting ...” at the bottom of the screen
- I then get an error message saying “Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server failed”
Any ideas?
Jedzi

My Trash folder also does not sync with my Exchange Mail.
Every other function of the iPhone works with no issues.
Company uses Exchange 2003. I checked with a co-worker who has the same iPhone firmware (2.2.1) and is also on the same exchange server as I am. He does not have the same issue.
My issue is not as extreme as the others, my Trash just began to have the sync issue about 2 weeks ago, on March 26th.
I have tried keeping the phone powered off for 1 hour to see if that would reset it, with no luck.
Will restore the phone if no solution is available in the next couple days. If I do a restore I will post back and let you know how it .
EDIT: A few other things I tried just now with no luck, deleted and then re-entered my password in the Mail settings.
Also tried to change the amount of messages the phone syncs (from 200 to 50, then back to 200).
Turned on WiFi and tried to sync, then turned off WiFi and attempted a sync again.
Changed Fetch settings from manual to 15 minutes, then back to manual again.
Created a folder called "Test" in my mailbox through Outlook Web Access, moved a message from my Inbox to "Test"....checked my iPhone and it had no problems syncing the message in "Test" Moved the item into Deleted Items via OWA, then checked iPhone Trash and it still cannot sync, same error message.

why won't my apple tv sync with my new macbook pro, they are both on the same wifi signal.

Not sure of what? In your second response you said the issue was with airplay. You were also having issues connecting laptop to computer, which points to a laptop connectivity issue. I simply asked if home sharing was an issue as well, since that will confirm the laptop as the cause. Your response that home sharing is on doesn't really help since that doesn't itself have a bearing on airplay nor does it answer the question in regards to if home sharing is working on Apple TV
If you have a further question you will need to be specific.

  • Why won't my album artwork sync to my iPod Touch but it shows up on iTunes?

Why won't my album artwork sync to my iPod Touch but it shows up on iTunes?

Ok I had this problem, and for me at least what happened was that not all the album artwork was attached to all songs on the album.  So if you right click one of the albums you are having an issue with, the click artwork tab, and go through each song on the album, if it is missing from any of them it will not sync properly to any device.  Find the songs that have the artwork, and then right click to copy it, then go to songs without it, and right click in the blank box and paste it in there.  Then once finished with any issues you are having sync iPod, this should fix the problem.  It worked for me, and it was unbelievably frustrating to know I have the artwork, but it wasn't showing up anywhere on the iPod.  Hopefully this fixes the issue for you, like it did for me!

  • HT1351 why won't my ipod nano sync automatically anyone? I got a new laptop, authorized it, but can no longer sync music. right now there is no music at all on my nano. Hellp!

    Hi
Bought a new laptop and can't sync anymore. I enabled my laptop...should be all set. But, my nano now has no music on it! My music library shows up in itunes. Why won't music sync to my nano?
    Help!!argh

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

  • Why won't BOTH our iPods sync with my mac?

I am trying to sync my and my girlfriend's iPod touches, and when I try either option in File> Sync iPod or >Transfer from iPod, the text is grey so I cannot do this. Its driving me up the wall, I can't find anything relating to WHY our iPod's aren't syncing????

    - To transfer iTunes purchases from iPod to computer see:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
Note it says the computer has to be authorized for the iTunes accounts that purchased the music.
    - For other music you will need a third-party progtam like ne of those diacussed here.
    Copy music
    - An iPod can only sync to one iTunes library.  If a computer is synced to another library and you try to sync to another library the items will be grayed out.

  • Why won't my trash empty?

I have files in my trash, and every time I try to empty my trash, it'll make the sound but the files will still be there. Is there something wrong with my computer???

I had a similar problem and tried the following without effect:
    - Restarted the computer and tried again (twice).
    - Held down Option while emptying.
    - Opened the trash folder and tried a secure delete.
    - Downloaded "Trash-It!" and ran it.
Finally, I ran Disk Utility from a restart (holding down Cmd and R key during the restart until Disk Utility came up). Repair disk found bad files and fixed them.  Now trash works fine.
    So far, no other problems.

  • Why won't my Trash empty everything but an HP Folder?

It wil empty everything else in it except the HP folder.  I don't even know how it got into the Trash..it must have been a mistake.

Repair permissions, restart your computer and empty the trash.  If that does not work, hold down the option key & empty the trash.  Try Secure Empty trash from the Finder menu.

  • Really need help here!-Why won't all selected Photos sync to my iPod Touch?

This is really a concern to me: I can only get about 9 months of my iPhotos to sync onto my iPod Touch - but with OS 2.x I could get all the photos-- used essentially all my free space.
I just upgraded my first generation iPod Touch (Dec 2007) to 3.1.2 - OK WiFi and apps updates working fine- but as to syncing photos: I have 15,688 photos & videos from my cameras in my iPhoto library.
I don't expect to have all the photos synced, but when I check last 12 months, only about 9 months is synced - 5899 photos and there is 4.9 gb of free space on my iPod Touch. With OS 2.x I could get more photos and it would go down to just a few mb of free space if I wished.
What is going on here? Why so much free space and yet no more photos syncing? I tried to click ALL EVENTS and that simply erased all my 5899 photos and there were NO PHOTOS. So now I went back and requested last 12 months of events (about 138 separate events from end 2008 until present) - and again, exactly 5899 photos yet still some 33% of my iPod capacity is UNused?
This is really a concern to me-- if a corrupted photo or event, then why did it work just last week when I was in iPod Touch OS 2.x?
Thanks for any suggestions here. I'm trying manual syncs and other stuff - so far no luck.

First a really big THANKS - I was not aware that this iPod Photo cache folder existed and it had grow to over 15 gb in size! (Now it is 3.85 gb in size).
BUT BUT-- problem not solved... Although I trashed that file and then re-synced my iPod Touch, it is still only going back to July 2009 with the events - not 12 months as I request; and none of the events that I checked prior to the previous 12 months are not on my iPod Touch, first generation running system 3.1.3 (7E18). I STILL HAVE 3.0 gb of available space on my iPod. Again, I never had this problem when 2.x was the OS for my iPod Touch.
The number of events seems to be exactly 51 - is that perhaps a limit? I don't think it would be but when I look inside the iPod Photo cache folder, there are 51 folders (plus 2 other items) and the folders are numbered from F00 to F50.
I would like to get to the bottom of this - not sure if I should start a new post or ??? Thanks again and any ideas or tests to run really appreciated!

  • Why won't my trash empty or show that it is empty?

    HI!
I deleted a lot of files from my external drive then Trash deleted some of them but not all. I'm trying to Empty Securely Trash but it says: "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items."
I tried to press the option key and then Empty Securely Trash but it didn't work.
When I log into my administration account and insert the external drive then it shows that Trash is empty but when I use my usual users account and insert the external drive then it shows that there are items in the trash but it won't let me Empty the Trash.
Otherwise both my admistration account trash and usual users account trash are both empty, Its only when I use my usual users account and insert external drive then it shows items in the Trash and won't let me Empty it.
So now I don't know if there are actually items in the Trash that I can't delete or the Trash is actually empty but for some reason it show that it is not and won't let me Empty it.
Tried restarting computer multiple times but still nothing.
    Help!

Unfortunately don't have any other macs around here.
When I did Disk Utility then only Verify Disk and Repair Disk buttons are active. Verify Disk Permissions and Repair Disk Permissions buttons are not active at all. Don't know why is that. I assumed that they werent supposed to be active  with external harddrives as my other external harddrive which seems to be ok, when I mount it, then last 2 buttons I metioned also are not active. But if you say to use Repair Disk Permissions then something must be wrong with both of my external harddrives?
Anyway the external drive which Im concerned with right now  (the trash won't empty), when I did Verify Disk and Repair Disk then got this:
    Verifying volume “MY PASSPORT”
    ** /dev/disk1s1
    ** Phase 1 - Preparing FAT
    ** Phase 2 - Checking Directories
** Phase 3 - Checking for Orphan Clusters

  • Why won't some track information sync to my iPod?

Recently, my mom upgraded from her extremely old Sansa e250 to a 32GB iPod Touch. I'm helping her migrate her music over to her iPod. I copied her old Sansa's music onto my computer, which are all mp3 and mp4 files. I put these files into iTunes (on her laptop), and synced them over to her iPod. I then realized some files did not have album artwork, an album in the track info, and some other incorrect or missing details. So, I went into each track, corrected as necessary. Then, I ran a Get Album Artwork for all tracks, which it found for most of them. I went online to find the album artwork iTunes didn't have (some of the mp3s were ripped from old CD's, like George Clinton's Computer Games) and pasted it into track info. After the entire collection was ready to go, I synced again. I opened the Music app on the iPod, and I noticed that while the Apple artwork synced over, some track info that I edited, and the artwork I pasted in, did not. The music still plays fine, but it's kind of annoying when there's something missing or you see that music note. For example, one track was Supertramp's "Babaji". I entered in the album Crime of the Century for it. iTunes found the artwork for it, synced it over, but the album name did not. Any advice?

  • Why won't my iPhone 6 sync video?

My iphone 6 won't sync video I shot with my previous phone...an iPhone 5. How do I fix this?

Yup, you want LTE all the time.   As Loquat  stated, LTE = 4G
when you are sitting next to someone and the phone says 4G, it is a ATT or T mobile connection.  They have fake or faux 4G that is a step down from LTE.  It really is 3G+ but they came up with the fake 4G.  This is why Verizon put LTE to indicate it is real 4G technology, not hype.

  • Why won't Calendar and Contacts sync with my iPod

Every time I try, my menu says no contacts available in this computer---despite having an address book full of them. Also my calender (iCal) no longer syncs with my iPod. Running 10.7.5 in my laptop and the latest (2.0.1) software in my 120 g

My apologies for the previous incorrect solutions! What I have finally done to alter the Contacts group in the iPod (in my case an iPod Nano 4th Generation) with iTunes 11.x is the following:
I connected the iPod as per usual and iTunes opens and the iPod shows up on the desktop. I then click on the iPod icon to open its folder which shows that there is a Contacts folder. Opening this I saw a Contacts file called 'iSync.vcf' which I moved to the Trash.
I then went to Contacts (the actual app) and exported those vcards I wanted to be on my iPod. Since I didn’t need every card on my nano I did each card individually; if you want all the cards then just select all the cards you want to export (or make a new special group for the iPod) or command-A a group and then export these vcards, either directly to the iPod Contacts folder, or to a folder on the desktop from which you can later move the vcards into the iPod folder (in case you want to add or subtract cards). note: if you have exported a group of cards from Contacts you cant remove cards from it later)!
To add vcards to the iPod from then on, just drag a new card, or an updated vcard, into the iPod Contacts folder - conversely to remove a contact, drag the card out of the folder.
Hopefully this solves the problem. I’ve checked it out several times today with my iPod and it seems to work well.

  • Little boxes next to songs and why won't one single song sync?

Somehow when I was messing with iTunes I unchecked every one of the little boxes somehow and I don't know how to get them all checked again?
also I have one song that won't sync and I'm not sure why, it plays fine on my computer but it won't sync to my iPod?

To get them all checked again, select all tracks in library, right click then select the 'check selection' option from context menu popup.
iTunes can handle some file types and formats the iPod cannot. What type of file is it giving problem?

  • Why won't my iPhone 5S sync with my computer?

I have the grey-dotted circle issue that has been addressed in other discussions before (even though I did not get a straight answer from there). Whenever the iPhone 5S (which is running iOS 8) is plugged in, it says that X amount of songs are greyed out in the 'On my phone' page. Not quite sure how to fix that.
However, whenever I try to 'apply' changes, and sync to the computer rather than iCloud (which by the way is ridiculously slow as well---icloud sync), it will go to 'step 4' or 'step 6' where it's applying changes, or finishing up, and just stays there. It freezes.
This all happened when we tried to sync a new playlist to the device. It said in the play list that there were 250+ songs, whereas only 56 transferred to the phone....(this is where the grey dotted circles in the 'on my phone' screen comes in) Some of the music in our library is older and has been transferred from computer to computer over the years. I've tried de-authorizing the computer then reauthorizing since it said we couldn't authorize more than 5 devices to the same library but that was to no-avail.
We have upgraded our iMac to Mavericks, iPhone to iOS8 and iTunes to 11.4. We rebooted everything yet we are still having issues.
Some help would be appreciated. This device will be used as a music source for a marathon within the next week and we'd like to get the device up and running for the runner who will be in the marathon.
    Thank you in advance.
