Why Won't my updated version of iMovie open up??

Updated to iMovie 9.0.9, and now it will not open on my 2013 Mac Mini. It opens the iMovie window, says "Processing Event: New Event" then crashes and error reports, then when I click reopen it does the same thing.
Would have included the error log here, but it won't let me copy and paste on this site I guess,
It says:
Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x000000000000000
Then it starts talking about VM's and saying Thread 0 cr

If you go into your Movies folder, then into iMovie Events, remove the folder named 'New Event.'
If iMovie launches at that point, you've got something with that particular event gumming things up. If so, you can try importing the videos from within that event, but it may be one of those videos causing iMovie to quit.

    Hello,

I saw the update prompt and honestly, I did not think I would have ANY issuess with opening my previous files that I created only a few months ago with this updated version. The new updated version of iMovie 10 won't let me open my previous files I created before the update today. I have a wedding that I'm trying to finish and deliver and now I can't because that file version won't open. I keep getting an error message and the iMovie app closes. Last night I saw the file and tried to open it but no luck. Error message came up again. I reboot and turned off my laptop for the evening and tried again just now but nothing!! I need that video. My job depends on it! I worked so hard on this wedding video and now it's lost and won't open. I work another job and don't have much time. I really don't want to start all over again. I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?

Can't update the flashplayer becasue it states I need to close firefox? Not sure why, I have an updated version of flashplayer but when I go in through firefox it tells me I need to update it, but won't because I am in firefox. This seems to be a problem when I am in FB.

You must close Firefox to install the update after it is saved to your hard drive. Follow the instructions below.
There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash. Both must be installed and updated on Windows systems. In Firefox it would show as Shockwave Flash in your plug-ins, if you had it installed.
*an ActiveX version for IE only
*a plug-in version for Firefox and most other browsers
#'''Install or Update the [[Managing the Flash plugin|Flash]] plugin''' to the latest version.
#*Download and SAVE to your Desktop so you can find the installer later
#*If you do not have the current version, click on the "Player Download Center" link on the "'''Download and information'''" or "'''Download Manual installers'''" below
#*After download is complete, exit Firefox
#*Click on the installer you just downloaded and install
#**Windows 7 and Vista: may need to right-click the installer and choose "Run as Administrator"
#*Start Firefox and check your version again or test the installation by going back to the download link below
    #*'''Download and information''': http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
#**Use Firefox to go to the above site to update the Firefox plugin (will also install plugin for most other browsers; except IE)

  • Why won't OSX update to current version?

I have OSX version 10.6.8.  When I run software update, it tells me my software is up to date.  On my other Macbook Pro, I have 10.9.4.  I realize that I will have to run a series of updates to get from 10.6 to 10.9 but why won't software update allow me to update to the next OS version in the sequence?

Because Mavericks is a full version upgrade and not an update; it needs to be downloaded from the Mac App Store, which will take a compatible Mac directly to 10.9.4.

why won't Numbers update free, when my other iWork apps have update for free?

I'm not sure if this answers your question. I will update them in iTunes. Then I will connect my phone and in the phone controls I can click the "Update" button and it will change to "Will Update" but doesn't.
That's part of the problem. Once upon a time, iTunes would just automatically update apps from the computer to the phone and now it apparently requires prompting that doesn't work.

  • Why won't Apple update its iPAD to send messages other than imessages?

Why won't Apple update its iPAD to send messages to phones with systems other and OS? I just purchased an ipad4 for my husband. This limitation is very frustrating. When I purchased and ipad3, I was told how to make the message go through as an SMS; however, this never worked. Had it not been for the fact that my husband has an iphone5 and getting an ipad with the same operating sytem simplifies things for him, it may have been better to get an Android tablet and switch phones!

I understand that, but it does have a message system, so it makes sense that you should be able to receive ALL messages via this system.  I do have a phone and I can get them all, but if I sit down at the ipad to check messages, I only get those sent through imessage.  Sorry, I'm venting and you probably can't do anything about it.  Apple needs to wake up and figure out that if it doesn't change its protocol on the ipad, then people will switch to another system that does. Hoping that someone from Apple sees this.

  • Why won't my final cut studio 2 open on my iMac

Why won't my final cut studio 2 open on my iMac after I have installed all the disc?

    Nope.
Just download Preference Manager (Free) from Digital Rebellion at:
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
It will allow you to archive your current settings before you trash them, in case you want to return to them for some reason.
Then trash your preferences and restart Final Cut.
It will see there are no existing preference and will create a fresh set.
Hopefully this will allow you to compete the launch.

  • Why won't my mpeg import into imovie?

    Hi,
Just got a new macbookpro 17inch. Liking it but having to learn the switch to mac. I have an mpeg file i want to try to resize, but imovie doesn't seem to recognize it at all. I thought macs were supposed to be the computers where everything just worked. Why won't it let me take this in? I thought mpegs were fairly common and quicktime has no problem opening it. Am I using the wrong program? Do I need to go back onto my ancient Toshiba and use Windows Movie Maker just to resize a video?

I wonder why apple didn't just make it so that imovie could read those files. If windows movie maker can than it must be possible to do. Wouldn't they have anticipated that someone might take video on a hand held camera and then want to edit that video in some way? Is there some reason or advantage of them having made it this way instead of not just making the program do everything that someone might want to do?
There is a problem regarding the difference in technologies. QT Is Apple's proprietary multimedia software system. It is modeled on magnetic film strips and/or video tape which employ separate audio and video heads/tracks for playback. MPEG-1 files, on the other hand, contain a single stream of data which is composed of interspersed blocks of audio and video data. Thus, the different technologies require different "engines" to work properly. Since Apple only supports its own technology base as it applies to rigid standards, anything outside this scope is not supported. For instance, QT is very particular when it comes to files being properly terminated and proper time coded while muxed formats like MPEG-1, MPEG-2, VOB, Flash, etc. files are notorious for having broken time codes since these files rely on the physical interspersing of data blocks. Windows files are also very rely on FourCC codes/extension for proper playback while QT files frequently rely on the specific data instead for proper playback. In addition, files like MPEG-2 are edited at the GOP (group of pictures) level which normally consist of a repeated cycle of I-, P-, and B-frame types (e.g., IBBPBBPBBPBBPBB) while QT files are edited at the individual frame level. And so on and so forth. While some applications may contain "hybrid" engines to handle multiple technologies, Apple has typically supported its own technologies. They are, for instance, not in the habit of supporting codecs contained in the AVI file container which Microsoft dropped a decade ago but which is still in such common use by Windows users that it has not been allowed to die a dignified death. In short, Apple is looking ahead to the new codecs which are highly scalable and very versatile in terms of data rates/file size efficiency which can handle anything from e-mail clips up to SD content and beyond to full HD encodings. While an MPEG-1 VCD may offer compatibility with a wide range of older devices it does not offer the same quality to storage capacity ratio offered by H.264/AAC encoded files.
how did you quote just specific parts and make them blue.
I use the Level 4 mini text editor.
Are you typing in your own html codes or something?
Sometimes. For instance, the new forms are not as HTML "quote" or "line feed" friendly as the old forum. So I no longer indent the blue quoted text and use the "
" (paragraph) to add additional line spacing.

  • Why won't the newest version of iTunes download on my PC?

I tried downloading the newest version of iTunes today and there were some issues so it suggested that I reinstall. I tried doing that, but now I am getting an error message that says "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privledges to start system services. I recently switched from and iPhone 4s to a Samsung Galaxy S4. Could this be the issue? What should I do to get past this

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:

  • Do I have to pay $299 for a DUNS number? Why won't the $49 version work?

I'm trying to register as a company to build a for-profit application and launch it in the iStore. It says I have to apply for a DUNS number which is fine, I understand about building business credit and establishing ourselves as a reputable entity. I called D and B and they said I HAD to sign up for the $299 plan to get the number and that the $49 version on their website was not good enough to get into the iStore.
Any ideas if this is true and why? (I've only heard it from the sales rep at D and B so I'm slightly skeptical) Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I was offered a free DUNS number but the process to getting it would take 30 days and I'm in a hurry, so I decided to go with the expedited service (around $120 USD) which takes 24 hours only. What I'm starting to question is whether a simple DUNS numer is enough for all countries or not, we know it is enough for US companies since they can update their company profiles themselves via D&B iUpdate service, but for us foreign companies there's no such thing and apparently a "D&B Full Profile Analysis" (around $200USD) is the way to go. I spoke this morning to the person in charge of processing DUNS number requests and she encouraged me to insist with Apple that my DUNS number is valid and that my profile is complete, and to also ask them to verify the information with their D&B executive(s), she said there are a lot of other companies here in Mexico having the same problem since January and that most have been able to fix it by asking Apple to double check the information with their D&B executive(s), she also mentioned that updating Apple's D&B plattform completely actually takes 2 months and not 14 days, that's why sometimes not all the data is there when we try to sign up and that's also why Apple needs to ask a D&B executive to double check the info in other databases/platforms/whatever they use to keep our data temporarily, anyway right now I'm waiting for an Apple senior advisor who is looking into the issue since last week, I'll keep this thread updated.

  • Why won't the upgrade version recognise my current version and install?

I am using Mac OS 10.6.8 and have had trouble opening pdf documents from other websites with Adobe Reader. They suggested I upgrade my Adobe Reader, which I have tried to do; have gone to 9.4.6, but when I try to update further to either 1011 or 1001 it will not open or recognise my current version and just closes, saying the installation failed and to contact the software manufacturer.  So this is what I have been trying to do, and need help!
Can somebody tell me:  1.   what is the upgrade after 9.4.6?
                                                2.   are the version 10...s for the new Apple Lion OS?

I do have the same message when I try to update iPhoto : "to update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it"
I remember having signed to the mac app store with my mobileme account, and as my computer is new, I was asked to make GarageBand-iMovie-Iphoto solely available to any future updates for this computer and this apple ID ( As a matter of fact the iLife suite was bundled with the computer).
Well, I have no other ID to give to apple besides this mobile me id, I wonder what is missing.

  • Why can't install updates to iPhoto & iMovie

I get daily reminders that updates are available. I go to the app store and dutifully enter in my ID and password but the store tells me that the updates are not available for my machine. Quote:

different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
It then tells me that there is a problem with the App Store.
Any ideas as to why it won't update these apps? And how do I turn off the annoying 'Updates Available' notification that I can't seem to get rid of. Thanks.
