Why won't new garage band recognize my keyboard?

On my laptop version 10.7.4 whenever I pluged my keyboard into the usb port a picture of an electornic keyboard would appear on garage band with a pop up stating that a keyboard had been detected and asking wiether I wanted to use input from the keyboard. My brand new computer doesn't seem to recognize my keyboard. What do I do?

You'll hardly get an answer without telling us your keyboard model and how you are connecting it to the computer (with a midi interface or through its USB out?).

Why won't the dvd player recognize a disc?  The brand new dvd I insert keepgetting ejected.

Try cleaning the lens of the optical drive.
Use a DVD lens cleaning disk.
If you have a can of compressed air, shoot some in to the slot.
Us a fine microfiber cloth (eyeglasses cleaning cloth) wrapped around a business card and gently insert it into the slot.
    Ciao.

Your signature lists both, Mac and iOS device - are you asking about GarageBand on your Mac or your iPhone/iPad?
If you are asking about the upgrade from GarageBand '11 to GarageBand 10.0 on your Mac, the old GarageBand version should still be installed. The installer will have moved GarageBand '11 to a separate folder "GarageBand 6.0.5" in your Applications folder. Open this folder and click "GarageBand".  Does this version still see your old projects?  If not, type ".band" into the Spotlight searchfield in the upper right corner of your screen. Does that sfind your missing projects?
If you are asking about GarageBand on iPad/iPhone, there it is not possible to restore the previous version after you upgraded. And I do not see, how this upgrade could have deleted your projects. Have they completely vanished, or can you not open them any longer? If your projects have vanished, restore your device from your backup: See:  iCloud: Backup and restore overview

then had to find out (same as with this issue) that I presently have other software that will not run on Maverics.
You could create a clone of your drive with all your current software, so you could continue to work with your Snowleopard software by booting from the clone, and upgrade your main system to Mavericks, if your computer supports Mavericks.    This way, you could have both, if the new features of Mavericks are interesting to you -  e.g-, iCloud syncing of multiple Macs, new sharing features, and for GarageBand automatic drummers and arpeggiators.

Why won't Lightroom 4.4 recognize my Nikon D600 when attempting to use Tethered Capture?  However, Lightroom recognizes the camera otherwize.

I just checked the list of cameras supported for tethered shooting, and the D7000 is on the list of supported cameras. So perhaps it's time for you to double check your camera settings to make sure it is set up for tethered shooting.

In the early versions of garage band i could export my songs as mp3 files on my desktop.

mp3 export is not currently an option for GBv10, though it's not difficult to still create an mp3 formatted file:

This FAQ entry offers a Minute GarageBand video tutorial

(BTW, mp3 export didn't become a feature until version 4, so perhaps it will return in a future version)

  • Why won't 10.6.8 recognize canon xha1

Why won't 10.6.8 recognize the canon xha1 video camera

THIS IS STUPID! One of the few things about my Canon XH A1 and/or my mac that really tick me off!
Nevertheless I have found a roundabout solution that worked for me and may work for you as well:
My macbook pro (2011) has a Firewire 800 plug. Do NOT plug the camera directly into the firewire 800. Instead, plug the camera into an external hard drive (i happen to have a 500GB Western Digital) with 2 firewire 400 ports. THEN, plug the external HD to the Macbook computer.
ODD, I know, but it works, i tell you!
    So the chain should be:
    Cannon (4pin firewire 400) --> WD HD (6pin firewire 400)
    WD HD (6pin firewire 400) --> MacBook (Firewire 800)
    Presto... recognization!
    Good luck.

  • HT4972 Why won't my iPhone 4 recognize my sim card after update?

Why won't my iPhone 4 recognize my sim card after update?
I updated my iPhone 4 over wifi and it went through the process fine, until it switched back on and now refusese to recognize my sim card!
    Any ideas?

Usually this means the phone was previously jailbroken or hacked to unlock it from the carrier it was locked to, and the update re-locked it to that carrier.

  • How do I add effects on the new garage band

On the old garage band i could double click on a track and i had a side bar of effect such as:
    Reverb
    Distortion
    Overdrive
In the new update it appears they have gotten rid of this and i wondered if there is still a way of doing it.
    Please help. Thanks

These effects have been moved to the Smart Controls:
Open the Smart Controls for a track, click the button to show the Info pane, drag the dividing line to the track area to make the pane larger. scroll it up, until you are seeing the "Plug-ins".
Click the disclosure triangle at "Plug-ins" and click an empty field to add another effect:

  • Know why my mix from Garage Band imported into iTunes is incomplete?

I got a spankin' new iMac and I'm trying to download original Garage Band mixes (combo of midi and real instrument tracks, no more than 12) into iTunes to write a CD. Regardless of the mix format (aif, aac, mp3), when I import into iTunes, some mixes only inlcude one or two of the tracks (the songs play perfectly in Garage Band). One attempt with a song from an aif file imported into iTunes as 9 seperate files, one for each track!

    What steps did you take?
Usually you would be able to export song to iTunes via Share --> Send song to iTunes...
I never encountered any problems but maybe you are doing something different?

  • IControl won't affect Garage Band

    Hi
I've just bought an iControl by m-audio - a USB controller for Garage Band
My version of GB is 3.05 and OS is Leopard.
When I push the buttons and move the faders nthing happens to the program, and the keybord I connect thru the iControl's 5-pin MIDI in doesn't affect GB
the only thing that works is the master volume - when II move it it changes the volume on a selected track (but not the master volume)
Could you please tell me what am I to do? Is it all cause of leopard?

    thanks guys,
it's just that I really need such device - dealing with computer and the mouse makes me completely sick when I'm trying to record a song. It's too much time to spend for pushing knobs on the screen, and iControl is I guess the better and the cheapest way to arrange a comfortable recording.
I'm quiet disappointed to face the fact I won't be able to use the controler.
Do you know if there's some other thing like this controller?

  • New Garage Band screen flashing

    Hello Everyone!
I updated my Garage Band and when I click the about window at the main window that Garage Band starts, I click on the about window and the WHOLE screen flashes, creating a lag. It's not the application flashing but it's the whole window flashing. I reinstalled the application but the problem still exists. Can anyone tell me what's going on with Garage Band? Thanks!

When I try to record something, it's off the charts. The visual record bar comes out as a solid-block rectangle because the sound completely overwhelms the microphone.
this does not appear to be a pitch problem, this seems like a volume/loudness issue.
you'll need to turn down the input gain on whatever equipment you are using (interface, USB mic, built-in mic, etc)

  • Why won't my Macbook Pro recognize my iPhone 5s?

    SPECS:
Macbook Pro Retina, Mid 2012 (OS X Version 10.9.1) = up to date
iTunes (Version 11.1.4) = up to date
iPhone 5s (Version 7.0.4) = up to date
My Macbook Pro won't recognize my iPhone when I plug it in.
The problem is not related to cable issues as the phone charges fine when plugged into the wall.
I have tried rebooting both my Macbook Pro and iPhone.
My only guess is something in the latest iTunes update is causing this problem. Help?
    - TheStallion

I bought a new cable and finally tried it to no avail.
A few days ago my iPhone 5s lost all functionality (not due to any damage on my part). I took it to an Apple store and they told me that something was wrong internally and gave me a new phone.

  • Why won't my iPod touch recognize my 30pin cord? (1st generation)

(ipod touch first generation) i plug in my 30pin cord(to charge and to play music on my car stereo) and it wont recognize it. i have to either apply lots of pressure of pushing the plug in and up in order for it to connect. i used rubber bands to hold the cord in tight but now it doesnt even work with them on. i was lucky enough to find a sweet spot if i angle the plug in then it will connect but that only works when i charge it from my computer. If i try that in my car then when i drive the car bumps it out of place and i cant listen to music without it stopping every now and then. i dont know whats wrong with it? maybe its broken? time for a new ipod touch?

    - Have you tried another cable?
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
    - If the dock connector is bad there are some thrid-party places that will replace the connector. Google for them. It might not be worth it for a 1G iPod.
