Why won't Photoshop CS5 let me upload pictures?

I'm new to Photoshop CS5 but i've used Photoshop before,
I tried uploading a picture the same way but the browsing styles are diffrent. so i tried both browsing styles with the same picture and each one wouldnt let me upload it and it said it was the wrong format. the format was .JPG and .PNG both wouldnt work. why wont it? please help.

You need to use proper terminology or no one will be able to help you.
Opening an image into Photoshop is not "uploading".  The term "uploading" implies copying something from one computer to another, more powerful one, such as a server.  And there is no "Browse" button in Photoshop CS5 as far as I know.
Perhaps more proper/accurate terminology (assuming I've derived what you are trying to do correctly) would be:
You want to open an image on your hard drive into the Photoshop application as a document so that you can edit it.
Now you need to describe exactly how you are trying to do that, and what's not working as you expect it to (including a description of what you expect).
Are you dragging images into Photoshop, for example?  From where?  An Explorer Window?  Bridge?  If so, what folder are you pointed to?
Perhaps capturing your screen right where you're seeing the problem, saving it as a JPEG, and posting it here would be the most direct way to answer all these questions.

  • Why won't Photoshop CS5 use available memory before scratch?

    I've given PS CS5 access to 80% of machine memory (about 8.5 out of 12 GB).  Yet, it only seems to use (at most) 3.5 GB of ram, while using 1 or more GB of scratch disk.
    I had hoped that with lots of memory, I'd avoid using scratch.  Am I misinterpreting what I'm seeing?  Is there something I need to do to get the behaviour I want (i.e. don't use scratch until low on ram)?

    I was going to say "less crash resistant" does seem kind of accurate.
    Now, to be fair, Since PS CS5 is new I've been pushing things, testing with very large files, stitching huge panos, etc. to test the limits of CS5, but it IS unfortunately proving to be more flaky than I'd like (on an otherwise rock solid Windows 7 x64 system).  I've seen CS5 just disappear when tweaking settings on a raw file, I've seen Windows report that both the 32 and 64 bit versions have "stopped working" on various occasions, etc.  Fortunately CS4 trained me to save more often than I had been with earlier versions, so I haven't lost any major work yet.
    Regarding the OP's comment...  The one thing I've noticed with CS5 and big files is that the software doesn't seem to be waiting on the disk nearly as much.  So I guess I'd advise not worrrying about what it puts on disk, as it doesn't actually seem to be stalling for memory.

    Right click the document and select 'get info'.  Check the permissions for the file.  If several of these files have the wrong permissions then you may need to repair user permissions.  See this for instructions:

    After being away for 3 months, I attempted to open and use PSE 12 and it does not open.  Today I uninstalled and reinstalled thinking that would help, but it doesn't.  It appears as though it's going to open, but the little "streaming" just stops.  Your assistance in resolving this problem is greatly appreciated.

    I am not a technician so I can't go too deep in the analysis... I did all I could imagine to do, I would like that somebody from Adobe would take care of this issue finding solution to the problem.

    Why won't Photoshop CC run on my laptop I just installed it today. I signed out on my desktop but the laptop still will not run Photoshop CC. It starts but then closes itself down immediately after starting.

    Well it is the same Win7 that is running on my desktop and yes I have an internet connection and at that time is was hard wired not wireless. I just downloaded and installed the Photoshop and Bridge Apps. The laptop is about 2 yrs old and it is a high end machine and Photoshop6 runs on it just fine. I sure wish someone from Adobe would answer this question as it is beyond frustrating to me that this stuff works so poorly and you can never get a good answer out of them about anything ever.

    Why does it take so long to upload pictures from iphoto to AppleTV?   It takes hours to see a folder created in iPhoto to finally display on AppleTV.

    Do you mean that you are importing music from an audio CD into iTunes?  If so, the most likely causes of slow speeds are limitations of the CD drive you are using and/or the CD being dirty or damaged. If you turn on error correction within iTunes this can slow down the import process if it is repeatedly re-reading the same data before it gets a repeatable result (though it is a good idea to always have error connection enabled as the alternative is audible errors in the results).  Depending on which system I'm using typical CD reading speeds vary between 5x and 12x (so a nominal 74 min CD imports in 6-15 min).
    Importing a CD has nothing to do with your internet connection (which is only used to look up the song titles, etc. before you start importing).
    However, if you are downloading music from the iTunes store or another internet retailer such as Amazon, I'd expect an album's worth of m4a/mp3 files to download in 1-2 minutes on a typical broadband connection.  If this is what you're doing, and its taking an hour to complete, then there's a problem with the broadband connection itself or with how your PC is set up to use it.

Maybe you are looking for
