Why won't photoshop elements work on windows 7?

The editor will act like it's opening but when it does it ends up becoming unresponsive. I've tried repairing, I've tried re-installing.. nothing works. HELP!

I have Elements 12 and it just keeps freezing. It stats the catalog is currently locked or busy. I can't get at my folders.

  • Why won't Photoshop Elements 12 open?

After being away for 3 months, I attempted to open and use PSE 12 and it does not open.  Today I uninstalled and reinstalled thinking that would help, but it doesn't.  It appears as though it's going to open, but the little "streaming" just stops.  Your assistance in resolving this problem is greatly appreciated.

I am not a technician so I can't go too deep in the analysis... I did all I could imagine to do, I would like that somebody from Adobe would take care of this issue finding solution to the problem.

    >Hoping that you get a break through in your troubleshooting. Do not give up. I kept searching and searching for an answer to my Photoshop Elements 12 Full Editor not opening while the Elements Organizer 12 would. I have reams of data from October 2013 to April 2014 troubleshooting of the issue. Everything pointed to an activation issue but I could never target the place to fix until my break through came unexpectedly. And, as I found out, the SLStore Folder and SLCache Folder have "something" to do with activation according to the Adobe person who put forth what turned out to be the solution for me. Based on my encounter with this problem, I would say Windows No, Photoshop Elements activation Yes.

  • Why won't photoshop elements download for me

why won't photoshop elements download for me

    clear your adobe.com cookies or
    try a different browser or
download from prodesigntools.com if you follow all 7 steps:  http://prodesigntools.com/tag/ddl
    and activate with your serial.
if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps.  the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

  • Why won't Photoshop Elements 11 and Premier Elements 11 load ?

I just purchased Photoshop Elements 11 and Premier Elements 11.  I have Windows 7pro, have the disc for Windows and have the serial numbers for both programs.  When I put the disc in, I can't get past the welcome screen.  Why?

    is the install button clickable?
if not, are the other buttons clickable?

  • Does Photoshop Elements work with Windows 8 Touchscreen

Hi I'm able t use parts of the touchscreen for example, selecting a tool. But, when I try to say use the crop tool I cannot use my finger to expand or contract the crop tool.

Photoshop Elements only specifically works with touchscreens when it comes to gestures (moving your finger(s) in a specific motion to get a special behavior). Otherwise, the touch screen should act exactly like a mouse. My guess here is that this is simply a question of precision. If you try to "click" and drag a corner of the crop interface, does the crop rectangle move or rotate instead of change size?

  • Why won't photoshop elements load?

I am having a problem loading Photoshop Elements 9.0. Everytime I click it, it's showing Error 6. Please help.

    Hi,
I'm not sure that you will be able to reinstall your copy. You need a serial number and the installation file.
If you registered your copy with Adobe then you should be able to find your serial number in your account on the Adobe site.
If your computer came with elements already installed, then even if you could find the download on the Adobe site, it may not work with your serial number (if you can find it).
If your computer didn't come with any backup discs then you could try asking the shop where you bought it or the computer manufacturer if they can supply the installation disc and serial number.
If all else fails, you may have to buy a new copy. Your existing catalog should be able to be converted to the new versions and all your photos should be where you left them.
Sorry I can't be of much help.

  • Why won't photoshop elements 12 editor launch/open?

No matter how I try to activate PSE12, through the desktop shortcut, through program files, through old Photoshop works I've saved, it will not start.
I've tried reinstalling it, but it still won't launch.
What's strange to me is that Premier Elements, which I also have, works just fine. I can access the organizer through there, see old Photoshop works, but be unable to work on them because the editor won't load at all. No prompt on screen. No 404 ERROR or something like that, just a loading circle that goes away after a few seconds.
I have Windows 8 and a brand new computer. Why is this happening?

I have the exact same issue, but nothing on my computer changed!  Abode chat support twice now has refused to help me.  First time the guy cut me off; this time they told me to come here.  Looks like you have the same problem with no answer.  Not a good way to run a company!

  • Why won't Photoshop Elements open?

I have PSE 3.0 which used to work fine.  Now I click on it and it won't open.  The opening screen comes up and it says it is loading various files and then it just disappears.  It does not show up in task manager.  I have inserted the DVD and done a repair and when that didn't work I uninstalled and did a complete reinstall.  Same problem.  As far as I know my computer should have plenty of RAM and disk space and a high end video card.  Any suggestions would be welcome.

I got the correction to PrE, thanks.
Now, when the splash screen comes up, there is a little line of text that shows the components that are loading. It goes by quickly, and is not that large to begin with. Can you see what the last component, that it tries to load is? I've found that using a video camera to shoot the splash screen helps, as you can pause the camera in playback to see just what that componet is. This might give you a clue.
If you have added any audio editing programs, it is likely that a VST from it is causing the hang. PrE will attempt to load all VST's (these will usually be .dll files), and can work with most. Others it cannot work with, and you'll usually get a message telling you that it cannot work with this one, the first time that PrE launches after one is installed. These do not affect PrE, but you will not be able to use that/those VST(s). Now, some do cause problems and at launch. These will crash PrE, or PrPro, and the only hint is that little line of text on the splash screen.
Another bit of trouble shooting that might yield clues as to what is crashing PrE will be the info in this ARTICLE.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Why won't Photoshop Elements 9 save my contact book?

I cannot beleive that ADOBE has not fixed this problem. I an runnig Vista home premium on a dell studio with a lot of ram and much processor speed..

  • Why won't photoshop elements 12 launch?

I purchased this program last weekend and it simply will not launch.  I have disabled my antivirus program and network printers with a reinstall.  I have tried to install the trial version.  I have renamed SLCache.  Nothing works.  It looks like this release is a complete dud for many people.  Any help would be appreciated.  I have already spent several hours on this problem, and I am almost at my wit's end.

Sadly no luck this end I still have a, “Expired Trial”
I think I deleted the temp files first, then tried creating a new Admin and logging in that way. But that failed.
Maybe the order is crucial Like:-
    1 create New Administrator
    2. Remove Temp files
3.Could that be the trigger to work.
Oh I also ran the cleaner tool
So you are a luck guy!
The thing is could you unistalll it and then reinstall it without these issues?

i just bought a adobe photoshop elements 12 for windows in the store , why the serial number on the box is invalid ?

    Hi,
Does your serial number have 24 digits starting with 1057?
Note: Please don't quote your number as this is a public forum
If your number is not like that it may be a redemption code. See if the following helps.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/redemption-code-help.html
If you need help in finding a serial number inside the box, please see here
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html
If you still need help, then you will have to contact Adobe. Look at the end of the page I first gave and you should see "Still need help" - click on that.
    Good luck

  • I have an old Kodak Photo CD and Photoshop Elements 11 on Windows 7. How can I open the .pcd images?

I have an old Kodak Photo CD (1999) and Photoshop Elements 11 on Windows 7. How can I open the .pcd images?
Please help me open these photos. They are very important to me and I need to access them.
If I can't do it with any of the software installed on my computer, would someone be willing to open them, save them as jpgs and send them to me?
    Thank you so much, Nancy

You can get the plugin here by downloading the Extra Content for Photoshop CS3  File 2
Just be sure to follow Note:Very Important Instructions or the link won't work.
    http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
After downloading the PHSPCS3_Cont_WWE.exe, double click on it to extract the contents, probably to your desktop.
Then in the Goodies folder, Optional Plugins folder, you'll see the Kodak PhotoCD folder
Open that and copy the Photo CD.8BI to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11\Plug-Ins
Copy the profiles to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Color\Profiles

  • Transfer from Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 on Windows XP to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 on the Mac.

I want to transfer from Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 on Windows XP to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 on the Mac. My problem is I have lost my catalog and Windows XP.  I need help.
I have installed the newest Mac version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 (PSE 12 Mac) and it seems to work fine but I have not been able to access my old (XP, PSE6) catalog file.
I am working on a MacBook Air running OSX version 10.9.2.  I have been using Parallels Desktop 9 Switch-to-Mac-Edition™ to run Windows virtual machines.  I had been working for over a year running Photoshop Elements 6 on Windows XP virtual machine.  The XP operating system was updated to 2/28/14.
When I installed Windows 8, the Parallels program initially offered me a choice of virtual machines, Window XP or Windows 8.  I could use the XP version to work with Photoshop Elements 6 as before and thought I could be leisurely about transferring my Photoshop operations to the Mac side.
However, without my knowingly doing anything to dispose of Windows XP, I have “lost” Windows XP.  Perhaps it occurred when I updated to Windows 8.1.  At any rate, now I have access only to Windows 8.1.
To compound the problem the Time Machine backup program for the Mac was not backing up the XP virtual machine files as I had thought.   I have since corrected the settings but I do not have a copy of Windows XP nor of the Adobe Photoshop Elements catalog which I used in the past.
Moreover, I do not have a workable Windows XP disk; the only one I could find is from Dell and it does not load on my MacBook Air.  I see Windows XP disks offered by Amazon for about $30 and have thought about buying a copy to help see if I could  accomplish the transfer of the catalog file to my Mac.  I would use XP only to accomplish this transfer.
I am not completely confident that reinstalling Windows XP would actually enable me to do the transfer and I can foresee potential big problems. Therefore, before taking that step I thought that I would check with you to see if there is a way to find the catalog file and perhaps to modify it so that I could work in the Mac Environment.
I have used Elements to improve and organize over a thousand travel and family photos taken with a pocket size digital camera.  Being a nonprofessional, I have edited mainly by cropping and using Quick Fix but have many hours invested.  Yes,  I still have the originals and probably could have redone much of that work with the time I have invested in trying to find the missing XP and catalog.
I have found two large HDS files (Windows XP.hdd and Windows XP (2).hdd) that were created 7/15/12.  I suspect they may be important but am not sure what they are.   I read that HDS files are commonly Windows media digital rights management files, DRMs.   HDS files may also be used by hierarchical data systems.  Do the names suggest anything about Photoshop?
Can you help me find the catalog and transfer it for use with the Mac Adobe Photoshop Elements 12?

  • Why won't my printer print with Windows 8?

Why won’t my printer print with Windows 8?
Have you just upgraded, or purchased a new computer with Windows 8, and now you can’t get your printer to work?  If so, this may help you.  A lot of people have questions about installing their printer on a new OS.  This will help you answer those questions and make sure that you get everything installed.
    Before You Start
Before you try to install the printer on a Windows 8 computer, you should check to make sure the printer is compatible with the new OS.  The link below will give you a list of the printers that will work in Windows 8.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03168175&lc=en&cc=us&destPage=document&dlc=en
If you have upgraded your computer to Windows 8 form another version of Windows, make sure to completely uninstall all of the software for your printer.  It should still print, but to use all the functions you will need to reinstall the software, if it’s available.
Another thing to consider is how you want to connect the printer to the computer.
USB.  You should make sure that you have a USB cable that is no longer than 6 ft. (roughly 2m).  Make sure to connect the printer directly to the computer.  Do not use a USB hub.
Ethernet cable.  Make sure you have the network setup, that you have a free cable port on the router, and that you have an Ethernet cable available.
Wireless.  You should make sure that you have the wireless network setup, and that you have the password for the wireless network.
     1.     Installing Via USB
Installing via USB in Windows 8 has become much simpler for HP printer users.  In other versions of the Windows OS you had to start the installation and wait for it to ask you for the USB connection.  If you didn’t, you would have to uninstall the printer from the Printers/Devices folder, and then start the install.  In Windows 8, that will not be a problem.  If you plug the printer’s USB cable in and then install the printer’s software, it will still work.  Now for in depth instructions on installing the printer via USB click the link below.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03460670&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&la...
    2.     Installing Via an Ethernet Network Connection
For an Ethernet network connected printer the install is amazingly simple.  All you have to do is connect the printer to the network.  Once you have that done, Windows 8 will automatically install the drivers for you.  Then, all you have to do is install the rest of the software, if it’s available.  It’s really that easy.
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html
    3.     Installing Via a Wireless Network Connection.
For a wireless network connected printer the install is amazingly simple as well.  All you have to do is connect the printer to the network.  Once you have that done, Windows 8 will automatically install the drivers for you.  Then, all you have to do is install the rest of the software, if it’s available.  It’s pretty much the same as an Ethernet install, just wireless.
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html
    Alternate Install Methods
With Windows 8, many printers’ drivers are installed with the OS.  These are known as InOS drivers, since they come built into the operating system.  If you have one of those printers, all you should have to do is connect it to the computer via USB, or connect it to the network via Ethernet or wireless.  Once you have that done Windows will handle the rest.  There are alternate methods of installing your printer if the normal methods are not working for some reason.  You can install the printer either using the Printer Install Wizard, or through Windows Updates.
    Printer Install Wizard:

Note: The Laserjet drivers for the Asia-Pacific and Japan won’t be released until a later date.  Check the support site linked below for driver availability.  I will update this post once they become available.

  • Problems installation Photoshop Elements 8 on Windows 7

I tried to install Photoshop elements 8 on my Windows 7 computer, but the installation gives a failure after a certain time. A file "...cab" is not working and may be corrupt ( exact failure code I can give, if necesary). Is there any possibility to get this file or the program Photoshop Elements 8 as download file so that I can complete the installation? Thank you in advance for your answers.

    Hello,
I just got the same problem already some time ago when I tried to install this programm in my computer. At that time (March 2012) the program crashed my computer, I had to reinstall all the Software completely including system software. The program I purchased in December 2011 from Amazon together with a Reflecta crystal Scan slide scanner as bundle, so I thought it will work.
I will try to install the program from the download link you gave me, in case it does not work, what can I do next without having to buy a newer version?

You can download a fresh copy of the install files by following the directions listed at http://prodesigntools.com/direct-download-links-for-lightroom-3-and-ph otoshop-elements-8.html.
I am curious did you have this installed previously or did you just purchase a copy of Photoshop Elements 8?
