Why won't Photoshop save Spot Channels?

Okay so I've always had this issue. I have some of my files as Spot Channels, some as Alpha, I save it, but I go to close it says the file isn't saved correctly. If I save over it, it's fine when I open it back up, if I don't then the Alpha Channels are there but the Spot aren't. I've mostly just dealt with this because it always asks and I couldn't find a quick solution. I've recently upgraded to CC and the other day it didn't ask, which fortunately I was able to fix the file but was still a pain. So now I'm worried about losing part of my files. Why does it do that? How can I fix it? I'd rather not have to convert back to Alpha Channels if I don't have to. I am running Yosemite, but it's done that for years. Thanks.

Oh and Spot Channels IS checked when I hit Save As.

Why won't Photoshop save anything?

For some reason Photoshop won't save anything. I'm using the older CS6 version. It was working previously but one day it went kaput. When I go to save something, no dialog comes up and Photoshop is pretty much frozen. I can click to bring the Photoshop program into the foreground but I keep getting that error sound. I have to kill it and restart, but it gives me the same problem. I reinstalled from my CS6 DVD but that won't help either.

Since you mention it suddenly stopped working, I suggest resetting the Photoshop preference file: Hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Opt+Shift as you initiate Photoshop's startup. Select "yes" when asked if you would like to continue with reset.

Any Help? I did remove all the signature yet, still cannot save it.

I've solved it!
When you have saved the stationery, and opened a new email, make sure you have NO SIGNATURE.
If you have 'None' in the signature drop down list, then the template will display fine.
If you have a signature automatically added to emails, it interferes with the template being displayed and all you get is the signature.
So start with a blank email and no signature, before you select your custom-saved stationery.

Why won't Photoshop Elements 12 open?

After being away for 3 months, I attempted to open and use PSE 12 and it does not open. Today I uninstalled and reinstalled thinking that would help, but it doesn't. It appears as though it's going to open, but the little "streaming" just stops. Your assistance in resolving this problem is greatly appreciated.

I am not a technician so I can't go too deep in the analysis... I did all I could imagine to do, I would like that somebody from Adobe would take care of this issue finding solution to the problem.

Why won't Photoshop CC run on my laptop I just installed it today

Why won't Photoshop CC run on my laptop I just installed it today. I signed out on my desktop but the laptop still will not run Photoshop CC. It starts but then closes itself down immediately after starting.

Well it is the same Win7 that is running on my desktop and yes I have an internet connection and at that time is was hard wired not wireless. I just downloaded and installed the Photoshop and Bridge Apps. The laptop is about 2 yrs old and it is a high end machine and Photoshop6 runs on it just fine. I sure wish someone from Adobe would answer this question as it is beyond frustrating to me that this stuff works so poorly and you can never get a good answer out of them about anything ever.

if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps. the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

Why won't photoshop allow me to merge my channels together?

I have about 7 channels that need merging together so I can save the file as a JPEG, any ideas?

I'm not sure what you want because the above could mean more than one thing and I don't know the book and the tutorial you are following.
My guess is fill all composite channels with white before merging. To do this, make sure the composite RGB channel is selected, press the d key to set the background color to white, select all (Ctrl + A) and fill (Ctrl + Delete)
If you are talking about deleting the actual RGB channels from the Channels panel, this is only possible using Image > Mode > Mulitichannel which converts composite channels to C, M, and Y and then you can delete them but I doubt this is what you want. Multichanel mode can not be saved as jpg and converting back to composite mode will merge as composite any channel be it spot or alpha in the order they are sorted in the Channels panel for the corresponding channels in the converted mode. For example if you convert to RGB you need 3 channels, the top one will be used for R, the next one for G, and the bottom one for B. For CMYK you need four channels. Obviously this conversion will alter the appearance of the original spot channels unless they really represent composite channels like R, G, and B.

Photoshop CS6 spot channel problems

When I save a file created in Photoshop CS6 that has SPOT color channels it is converting the SPOT color channels to ALPHA channels when my customers are opening them into an older version of Photoshop. This has never been a problem with earlier versions of Photoshop.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution?
I don't know if it is a bug in CS6 or it is a setting or something I am not finding. I have never had to set anything before this version and I have been through anything I could think of to try & discover something, but no luck.
Any help would be really appreciated as this can't keep happening. I have had to be on the phone walking them through the steps to convert the ALPHA channels back to SPOT channels but do not have the time nor should I expect my customer to have to do it.

I'm having the same issues and it seems this just started happening after the most recent update because this wasn't happening for the last couple months I've had CS6. Not only that I actually lost 4 hours of work after it didn't save the spot channels at all and just saved the original image (it's technically supposed to be impossible to do this without making a copy). On top of that now when my clients try to open my PSD files in previous versions it says they do not have the correct color books even though I'm not using spot colors (this did not happen before the update. I've sent several files in the past couple weeks). I'm not sure what they did recently but it really screwed things up.
I'd like to know if anyone has a work around for the color book problem short of asking my clients to buy and install the new color books. I'm having to send the spots as EPS DCS files, so they can open it. It's always a headache when you upgrade and none of your clients do. Why can't they make this stuff work backwards?

Photoshop CS6 - Spot channels are not saved correctly in the psd files.

I'm using Photoshop CS6 and something happent a few days ago....some Windows or Adobe update messed up everything...I don't know...
Here's how things are.
If I add to an image a couple of new spot channels (any Pantone color) and remove the informations from the CMYK channels (or not-the problem it's there anyway), I should have an image with 6 color plates (CMYK and the 2 Pantone). It doesn't happened anymore...
I'm using Corel to print the files and the previous saved files are fine, I have all the Spot colors there. Now, If I edit any file I've worked on before, and save it again, the spot colors dissapear when I'm importing the psd file in my Corel document. And if there is no information on the CMYK channels, I'm getting a blank image...
I hope someone will give me some ideas because I don't know what to do anymore...

Right. It's not reading these new saved files correctly. The old ones are fine.
I forgot to mention one thing. I've got this CS6 as an upgrade and I still have the CS5 one running on the same computer. The CS5 version does the same thing...
Today I tryed again to open a PSD (CS6) with another CS5 version from another computer and came with an error message "Could not complete your request because the specified color book cannot be found". And the file didn't opened....
Who messed up my color book and how can I fix it?

Why won't photoshop let me save my images that I edit?

I have photoshop CS6 and am on a Mac. The photos that I am trying to edit are ones that I have taken and uploaded but everytime I try to save them after editing, I get this message, "the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file." Why? There is no other program using the file, I am the only one who has permission. I drag the lock icon into the trash but that doesn't do anything. How do I fix this?

Photoshop is just reporting an error that the OS returned.
Yes, there is a problem with permissions, or another application is using the file (which can include the Finder, due to some bugs in the Finder).
You will have to troubleshoot the directory to make sure you have permission to save there, and double check that no other application is using the file.

Why won't Photoshop CS6/CC save my preferences?

Each time I open Photoshop, I load an image and use my scroll wheel to zoom and I have to go back and re-do my preferences. No preferences are ever saved. Anyone have a solution?

Have you set your preferences, then gracefully Quit the application?
If in doing so, the preferences are lost next time you open it, that kind of implies Photoshop isn't able to write data to its own preference files, which in turn implies a permissions issue. I've often seen people advise "fixing permissions" or even creating a new user account on the system to deal with that.
I'm not sure why you mention using your scroll wheel to zoom, but know that the zoom level is not saved as a preference.

Why won't photoshop let me save my actions

I'm wanting to know how to fix this issue? Each time I create actions it has the "Save Actions" selection grayed out. So every time photoshop decides to have a fit and kill on itself all my actions are wiped out then I have to recreate them, rinse and repeat. Help? How can I save them?

Never mind I found it out finally searching. If any one else wonders if you click an individual action and try it will gray out the save action button, you have to click the folder the action is in then click "save action". Something about not being able to save actions individually, but only in groups.
