Why won't Quicktime open on my MacBook Air?

I have a DVD I want to watch, but it isn't compatible with the DVD Player my computer came with. My best bet is to play it with Quicktime, but the program won't open for whatever reason. It is version 10.3 if that helps. I don't want to have to buy anything if I can help it. Any ideas?

You can use QuickTime Player 7 that plays media files without conversion. Download QuickTime Player 7 for Mavericks from here.
Right-click (or Control-click) the file in the Finder and choose
Open With > QuickTime Player 7.app
Also control click on the QuickTime icon in the dock and click the menu option called Show. QuickTime should appear in the menu bar. Choose File > Open...
Files encoded using modern and standards-based codecs such as H.263, H.264, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, JPEG, and Apple ProRes open in QuickTime Player without being converted. When opening media files that use older codecs, QuickTime Player in Mavericks automatically converts them into a new QuickTime movie.

Hi I am having an issue with mail on my Macbook Air i have Yosemite. It opens then immediately the view window closes but the mail menu stays in top grey panel any one know how to fix this please.

Why won't quicktime open pdf's after i reinstlled my computer from a time machine backup?

Hey, all. Replaced the hard drive in my macbook , reinstlled my computer info from my back up and Upgraded to OSX 10.8. Now quicktime won't open pdf's for conversion to tiffs.
I've had quicktime pro for some time, and never had any problems before. What gives?

Do all PDF documents fail to open from any website, or is the issue with a specific website? For example, if you search for "ext:pdf" on google.com, then click on a link with "[PDF]" at the beginning of the link, do they all fail?
Does Safari say it is unable to download the file, or does something else happen?

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Preferences/com.apple.quicktimeplayer.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

I have never been able to open Quicktime attachments on my MacBook Air. I have made sure that Quicktime 7 and Quicktime 7 Pro are installed. Still no luck opening Quicktime MV files. I called Apple Support and they had no solution.

Quicktime attachments marked MV will not open ion my MacBook Air. I have Quicktime 7 and Quicktime Pro installed. I caled Apple Tec support and they were unable to solve the problem. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Click on one of those files, then go to Get Info in Finder: select what application should open such files.

I am trying to open files in Camera raw from Bridge but get the following message.
"Bridge's parent application is not active."
Both Bridge and CS5 are open and I have opened camera raw previously.

The video shows replacing a current DLL file with one from last year - the key issue being that the files found in the Bridge and Photoshop folders are DIFFERENT. Why would this be? I checked a PS CS5.1 installation myself and the files are already the same. Is there an illegitimate copy of Photoshop being used or something, causing these files to differ? -Noel

Why won't files open or save in email

I have been trying to open some important files that were emailed and they won't open. I am getting the blue and white pop up asking if I want to open or save and it won't let me do either. It did this the other day and somehow I finally got it open after shutting down the computer. Tried that this time and it won't work. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling adobe. It did not work. There is also an online website I use to complete and upload PDF file documents and it won't work either. What has happened? How do I fix?

Why won't files open in the space that the application is assigned to?

I have applications assigned to specific spaces, however, if I am in space 2 and I click to open an Adobe Illustrator (assiged to space 3) file, spaces will send me to space 3 but the file window will open in space 2 (where I was). I have to use F8 to view the spaces and drag it over to the assigend sapce. If i try to work on it in spaces 2 (where it opened) my pallets are blank. Any ideas?

The reason I say this is because you are in the forum for Adobe Reader which is a FREE application and not a service.
