Why won't some of my apps work after I did an update for my iPad?

it has been three days since I did an update that was recommended from my general section of my iPad, now I can not use an application or two as well as most others are not working correctly. I have tried to restart my system but it still is acting up. Can anyone help?

    I'm confirming that after trying several other ideas, the steps outlined here by S.E.A. and Amelia P. worked perfectly. For those of you having problems with certain songs not playing, or the wrong song playing, follow their "unsynch" "resynch" process. A few notes:
    Before starting, I was confident that iOS 5, iTunes 10.5, and Mac OS X 10.7.2 were all up-to-date and functioning correctly.
    After selecting my Device in iTunes (an iPhone 4S in my case), then selecting the "Music" tab and unchecking "Sync Music", be sure that it actually Applies the new settings (force a synch to be sure).
    After this step, most of the songs disappeared from my device (including all of the corrupted ones) but not all songs (perhaps it left those that I purchased directly on the device?). In any case, don't worry about these. Just re-check the boxes you unchecked and then be sure to force a synch again. It should take a while to complete if you've got a lot of music.

    As I was diligently running Disk Utility for my monthly maintenance routine, it reported some disk errors which could not be repaired. I tried Repair Permissions and Repair Disk again but got the same result. I had no choice but to boot up off my Snow Leopard Installer CD, wipe the drive clean and then restore my files from my Time Machine backups. Almost 3 full days later, the restore completed (155GB of data). All my files are back. Hooray and thank you Apple! But.. some of my apps won't start. They bounce in the dock, but do not actually open. They just stop bouncing without any visible errors.
    I haven't checked every single app but so far App Store, Mail, Dictionary, iTunes, Address Book and iCal won't open. However, Firefox, TextEdit, Calculator, Word, Excel, VirtualBox, and Disk Utility seem OK. Any ideas? I thought it might be a permssions thing so I repaired permissions 3 times using Disk Utility (each time permissions appear to be repaired) but that didn't help. I have a callback to Apple scheduled for tomorrow, but any advance info would be greatly appreciated!

    You have a problem with your drive and/or OS X and it's TimeMachine copy, are corrupted.

    Do it again like this, hold c boot off the 10.6 disk, this time use Erase>Security Option> Zero All Data. Install 10.6. fresh, no TM restore.
    But before you do this, copy your user file folders (music, docs, pics, etc) to a regular storage drive (not TimeMachine!) and disconnect all drives.
    Almost 3 full days later, the restore completed
    It doens't take 3 days to restore that's insane, I clone a entire drive with twice that amount in only a hour,  you obviously have a more serious issue.
    I have a callback to Apple scheduled for tomorrow, but any advance info would be greatly appreciated!
    If your boot drive is failing, if under warranty/AppleCare then let Apple replace it.
    If not, then try the Zero Erase and reinstall OS X fresh and update to 10.6.8 and wait it out, see if it works to see if it's really the drive or not, then create a new user like your old one, then install all your programs from fresh sources and files drag and dropped manually from the storage drive.
    If you use TimeMachine to restore from, the same corruption there will return, if it was caused by hardware (your boot drive) or in software is undetermined, best do a fresh 10.6 install in this case and wait it out to see if it's a hardware issue.

    If your drive is failing, it will fail with the fresh install, but at least you have your data off safely on a storage drive and not trapped by TimeMachine as that's likely corrupted as well from either the boot drive, or by some other reason.
    Also don't let Apple install 10.7 Lion if they try, most of your software won't work with it. Stick with 10.6.8., leave 10.7 for a new machine.

  • I need some old drivers to work after Lion install, any tweaks for that?

    My Protools interface isn't working (not compatible), some controlers i had for video games arn't reading drivers for them. Is there a fix for them? What if some of the drivers are never going to be updated, is there an app i can install?

    I have Firewire interfaces from Alesis as well as a Zoom R16 and an old Tascam US122 and NONE of the drivers will work with Lion. I've been in touch with Alesis and they say they're "working on it". Meanwhile I have a recording session booked for next week and it looks like I'm going to have to either cancel or revert to Snow Leopard to get the job done. I haven't ever had this much of an issue when updating the OS before. I'm trying to stay calm but I have to admit to being in a bit of a panic.
    Zoom support said it was a Lion problem and left me with the impression they weren't even investigating the issue. I haven't tried getting in touch with Tascam because the device itself is old.
    The Alesis gear includes a Multimix 16FW and an IO|26 which used the same driver in Snow Leopard.
    Any solutions that might get me going, particularly with the Alesis gear, would be greatly appreciated

    My Kenwood stereo used to be able to display album art and allow me to select playlists and songs but after this 4.3.5 update i no longer have any of those features! it still works perfectly with a friends ipod running 4.3.3 so its this software specifically. someone help fix it please!

    @Rebecca It may be that you are not using Firefox 5. Try replying to Amanda's post (above yours) and ask her if she got her WiseStamp working okay. Perhaps she can give you some tips. My problem was solved with the WiseStamp update for Firefox 5 posted by Josh at WiseStamp. Good luck.

  • My distributed form has stopped working after Acrobat did an update the form no longer appears in my tracker.

    I had a form that auto collected data through Adobe but it has stopped working after my Acrobat X Pro did an update.
    The form no longer appears in the tracker. How can this be fixed? I am using Windows 7.
    It would appear that since Adobe are going to be closing the Workspace area in January 2015 that when
    Acrobat did an update the ability to connect to files in the Workspace has been removed.
    Is there any way to reconnect the file back to the Tracker?
    Has anyone else had the same problem?
    Adobe don't seem interested in helping as this question has been posted for three days and yet no response.

    First and foremost thing you can do it is that reset your Firefox and after that change it to safe mode.This may be happening due to venerable links getting downloaded.

    Try restoring to factory defaults/new iPod again.  However, this time redownload the apps directly to the iPod.  Do not sync them.  Do it one app at a time.  Maybe the apps in your iTunes library are corrupted. If you are signed inot the same iTunes account that originally purchased the apps you will not be charged again.

    Most critically: What processor? Effects not being able to load points to an incompatible processor that lacks the necessary SSE extensions or some other feature. Often this also points to missing system extensions and DLLs that are responsible for some of that. Also provide info about your OpenGL settings and hardware. Effects may also throw errors if you are attempting to run them with acceleration, but your graphics hardware is unsuitable.

    So I Re-Enter It, And It Tells Me My Security Code Isn't Right! (I Should Mention I'm Using A Prepaid Vanilla Mastercard, That Still Has $5.00 Left On It).
    So No Matter What I Do, Nothing Works. Help?

    Can I suggest two things (actually, I'm not asking...).
    Stop using a capital letter for every single word. It makes your post very difficult to read and despite reading it twice I still find it difficult to work out where exactly the problem is.
    Confirm that you have followed the advice Illaass gave; i.e. check the link page about your card's code "isn't right."
    Actually - I am going to suggest something else; modify your attitude.
    I can see precisely what you have attempted to use as an ID on this forum and the tone of your post adds to the hostilty that you have. We here - all of us including Illaass, give our time for free. We are not Apple employees, we are simply trying to help our fellow users. We don't need hostilty, so if you continue to act that way, don't be surprised at a lack of help because until you calm down, you will not be able to see the obvious.
    ...and obviously, Apple employees don't need the hostilty either.

  • Why won't my iPhone camera app work?

    For some odd reason, my camera app isn't working. I closed the app and turned off the power but that didn't make a difference. It sometimes open but it's really glitchy, for example: the screen turns purple (not the whole screen) every time I try to take a pic/video. I did drop my iPhone but I don't think dropping my iPhone damaged it. FaceTime seems to be working fine, it's just the camera app and Snapchat.

  • Why won't my MacBook Pro Apps work properly?

    I've brought a brand new MacBook Pro Mid-2012, its only 8 months old and already I'm having problems. FaceTime won't open at all, it just bounces a few times and that's it, the App store opens, but doesn't load anything; and whenever I click on a tab (like the updates or categories) it becomes unresponsive for hours. I've tried verifying my disk on Disk Utility and theres nothing wrong with it, it say's its perfectly fine. I'm appauled that I've spent so much money on a so called "premium" product expecting quality and all I got is problems within the first year! Can anyone help me please? I really don't know what to do:(:(

    you can try this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the Mac OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it still exhibit the same behaviors?

    Try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons simultaneously, ignoring the red power off slider, until the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. This should not affect any content on the iPad, it is similar to rebooting your computer.

    I updated my iPhone 4 to 4.3.3 yesterday and, like quite a few people, I am having a problem with apps crashing instantly. However, unlike a lot of the posts I've seen, only a few of my apps crash, the rest work fine. I tried powering off my phone and turning it back on. I tried updating all of my apps. I tried deleting a free app and downloading another free app. My iPhone has never been jailbroken. However, one idea I might have about it is when I connected my phone to my computer I transferred my purchases and when I went to update it still said to transfer purchases before updating. Since I already transferred my purchases, I figured I didn't need to and continued on with the update. The apps that crash are:
    FatBooth
    Fruit Ninja (Full)
    Impossible Game (Full)
    TuneIn Radio
    I'm like, addicted to the Impossible Game and Fruit Ninja is one of my favorite non-shooter apps, so I really hope you guys can give me a fix for this .
    Also a side note, my phone does seem to be a bit slower since the update.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
