Why won't the folders in Mail sync consistently across my iMac, MacBook, iPad and iPhone?

Ok, this one is complex; here's the deal.....
I'm using a single Gmail account with Mail on an iMac, MacBook, iPad and iPhone, using Lion and iOS 5. The 4 respective 'Mails' are not synchronising consistently between each other.  Here's what's going on:
Received messages are appearing in all 4 Inboxes.
If a message is deleted from any of the 4 Inboxes, it is deleted from all other Inboxes.
So far so good. But:
When I create a draft message, or delete a message from the Sent folder - iMac and Macbook sync with each other, and iPad and iPhone sync with each other, but each 'pair' won't sync with the other 'pair'.
But to complicate things further (and this is the one which is driving me up the wall), let's look at the Sent folder:
If I send a message from the iMac or Macbook, the message appears in all 4 Sent folders.
But if I send a message from the iPad or iPhone, those 2 devices will sync their Sent folders, but the message will NOT appear in the Sent folders of the iMAc or MacBook.
So what is going on there? I've spoken to numerous One-to-One staff and Apple technicians on the phone over the last 12 months, we've checked settings, I've deleted and then reinstalled the Gmail account on Mail - but no success.  Please solve this for me!!

The reason I asked is because keying all devices synced is exactly what it is all about.
FYI, You need to use the Mail application, but you do NOT need to use an @me.com account. It support Gmail and other mail servers.

  • TS4002 Mail very slow across all devices (MacBook, iPad (retina), iPhone 4s

MacBook (2007, 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo, 4GB 667 MHz DDR SDRAM) 10.7.5 with Mail Version 5.3 (1283).  Retina iPad and iPhone 4s.  All software up to date.  All with plenty of space.
It takes a long time to send and a long time to down load messages on the MacBook.  Things seem file on my iPad, iPhone and checking mail through Safari via iCloud.com.
I checked the settings in my account preferences etc. and things looked as they should be as listed here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4002 .
I've tried to stop Mail and start it and got a message that things were still being done and the "Activity" window popped up with the horizontal "blue" barber poles that just spin and never seem to finish.
I've also restared my MacBook and the problem persists.  The Activity Monitor shows no anomolous behavior with regards to CPU or System memory and the hard drive has 25 GB free.
It seems to be possible to send and receive mail, but it takes a long time.  Speed checks show my DSL speed tha same as always and pages in Safari load as always.  It only seems that Mail is problematic.
    Any suggestions?

Things seem to be back to normal all the way around for me.
I did a little Googling of this sort of thing and saw some old threads in these forums and elsewhere.  It seems there are "micro-outages" with Mac Mail servers sometimes that last a few days that only affect a few lucky users.
Maybe that's what was going on.

  • What is the best way to sync iCal, AdressBook, etc on several devices? (iMac, MacBook, iPad and iPhone)

I have several Apple devices (iMac, MacBook and iPhone) and I was wondering what is the best way to sync iCal, AdressBook, etc on these devices?
I have an iCloud acount as well, but how to sync without seeing enteries double (iCal)?
    Many thanks!

iCloud should not cause duplicate entries in Calendars unless you are syncing using iTunes as well as Wi-Fi. No need for both.
    iCloud backs up:
Purchased music, TV shows, apps, and books
Photos and video in the Camera Roll
    Device Settings
    App data
    Home screen and app organization
    Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)
    Ringtones
    Calendars

Don't spend a lot of time trying to change it. It's an iCloud problem that's happened before, and when it happened in August it went back to the correct colors in a few days. Just be careful when you add new items to the calendar to use the right calendar (even if the color is wrong), otherwise you'll have things out of synch when the correct colors come back.

You can copy the iWeb application from the desktop machine to your new MBA.  But if it's iWeb 2 it won't work with Mavericks or Mt. Lion. Also  copy the Domain.sites file from the desktop to your MBA as that's the file with your webstite files in it.
    Happy New Year

  • I have the IPhone, IPad and MacBook, IPad and IPhone share the same Apple ID and Icloud storage. Cannot make ID Change on MacBook as it says the ID is already taken. How can I make all three match?

I have the IPhone, IPad and MacBook, IPad and IPhone share the same Apple ID and Icloud storage. Cannot make ID Change on MacBook as it says the ID is already taken. How can I make all three match?

The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
    and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
    and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.

  • How can I sync my pc contacts with my ipad and iphone?

How can I sync my pc contacts with my ipad and iphone?

Do you normally sync via iTunes and your computer? If so, there's an option in iTunes - that you see as you plug each device in - to sync contacts. If you don't normally sync via iTunes you can download and use the iCloud control panel and use that to sync your contacts.

  • I have an Ipad and Iphone but I don't have an Airprint, only a WIFI printer,my question is if I connect the wifi printer to Airport express, can I print from Ipad and Iphone ?

I have an Ipad and Iphone but I don't have an Airprint at home but only a WIFI printer, my question is if I connect the wifi printer to Airport express, can I print from Ipad and Iphone ? Please help me if anyone knows about this.

Unfortunately, connecting a non-AirPrint-enabled printer to an AirPort base station's USB port will not make it AirPrint-ready.
You will need to use another solution, like Printopia, to be able to print to this printer from an iOS device.

  • How can I get spam mail sent straight to trash on my iPad and iPhone.  Have managed to set rules on my iMac but not the rest.

How can I set up rules to get spam emails sent straight to my trash when I am using an iPhone4S or iPad3?  Have managed to do this on my iMac but can't see a way to do it on the other devices.  Getting about 50 a day recently using my email address but not my name in the messages - no idea why this has started but it is annoying!!

You cannot set rules on the iPad or the iPhone for mail. The only thing that you can do is to filter spam mail in your webmail settings using a web browser. The rules that set up in the mail app on the Mac do not sync across devices, those are rules for inside the mail client itself on the Mac.

  • Two of my 7 calendars aren't syncing correctly via icloud from iMac to ipad and iphone.  i cant find the problem. Help!

Two calendars in my list of seven are not correctly syncing between my iMac and my ipad & iPhone.  Also, the two calendars appear in my iCloud list with alert symbols after the (triangle with exclamation mark) whereas others in list show a "broadcasting" symbol. I don't know how to find out what these alerts are.
I have noticed problems in syncing special recurring events....I.e I am able to set up a 'last Friday of each month"  on my iMac, but it doesn't appear on my iPad or iPhone.  And I note I can't set up a special recurring event on my iPad or iPhone.  What can I do to solve this?  Is this a known flaw in iCal?
    Mary C

I have no idea if this will help as I sync via iTunes under OSX.6.8 - but there may be a clue somewhere here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4981514
I have to say that, even after doing all that, my problem seems to recur at random with no obvious trigger - and it is even more bizarre because, like you, not all calendars or events are affected.  Sometimes, different events within the same calendar are duplicated whereas others aren't!
And just how the iPad seems to pick up events which no longer appear in iCal is beyond me - presumably somewhere in a plist or old cache file but, as I said, no-one has any idea what or where!
No-one has managed to explian why my problem occurs or, indeed, just what is happening, but at least I now know how I can correct it, albeit via tedious series of steps.
    I hope that helps?

  • I have Apple Mail on 3 devices, an iMac, Macbook Pro and my iPhone 4. I would like to operate mail so that any changes I make to one mailbox (delete, etc) will automatically sync with all mailboxes. Is this possible?

I have 3 emails address also running through mail, a Gmail account, live.com.au account and an icloud.com account. Every time I open my email on a different device all old emails I have previously deleted on another device still remain, I would like to be able to load my mailboxes with the latest changes still there is what I guess I am saying. Is there anyway of doing this?
    Cheers

You need to set up all email accounts as a IMAP. Then, they will all be "in sync."
You cannot do this with POP accounts.
You should be able to change Gmail to IMAP, but I don't know about live mail.

  • My computer crashed hard drive was replaced and now I have lost my music.  Am trying to sync with my music from my iPad and iPhone but it is not working what is the problem

I need help please!  My computer crashed lost all data including my music.  Want to sync music from my ipad and/or iphone but it is not working.  What could be the problem how do I tackle it?

Syncing only works from your computer to your iPad/iPhone, not the other way around.  So you can only transfer your purchased music from the iPhone to your computer.
    See this document: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
My computer crashed lost all data including my music.
How bad was the crash? Had the drive to be replaced? Or is there a possibility to use data recovery software on that drive?

  • Best way to sync Lightroom 5 Collections to IOS8 IPad and IPhone (offline available)

    Hello,
I have looked at several options but have not found an elegant solution yet to a problem that many users must have.
    Problem
I have a lot of Collections in my Lightroom Library and would like to make them available to my iphone and ipad to show them (offline).
    Requirements:
The Collection "folders" should be reflected with the same name as Albums on the iphone/ipad.
They should be available offline (ideally selecting which to synchronise offline and which only on a cloud".
The quality should be good jpg but not highest printing jpg for ipad display.
I would like to have a solution using a cloud (i.e. publishing service of lightroom) because i dont want to connect and sync the ipad and the iphone everytime there are changes to the collections. Internet is fast enough to sync that (upload to a cloud and download)
I dont need to share them with others, but could be an additional benefit but ONLY if privacy is assured. I dont want to make them available to everyone.
Possible tools i could use that i have already:
The pictures on ipad quality will take up a few GB (10 maybe) so that i need some storage facility on a cloud i guess, I have dropbox, flick and more limited Icloud for that in theory.
I have a plug in Photoupload for Dropbox where i sync all my collections in printable quality.
I have a Flickr account - which i am not really familiar in using with lightroom.
I have an icloud account which i dont sync because i dont use iphoto.
I have a feeling that Flickr should offer this, but have so far not been able to figure out how to do it efficiently. I would like to limit monthly costs for this system, but if it works great, I could also consider it of course. I would be interested in hearing your solutions to this issue and ideally some link or how to do it manuals.
    Many thanks for your help!

Thank you for your quick reply 99jon
I have looked at Lightroom Mobile a bit. To stay within one system is always helpful for syncing. And LR-Mobile looks like the natural choice indeed but 120USD per year is slightly steep considering the availability of other clouds for more competitive prices, or like dropbox for multipurpose services.
Also i do not need to edit the pictures on ipad or iphone
I do have enough memory for either compressed jpgs or in lightroom mobile smart previews. (so no w-lan hdd needed) on the mobile devices
Do you happen to know a tutorial or video on flickr publishing for lightroom in the sense that i would be looking for.
Is there a way to combine the workflow of sending the high-res jpgs of a collection to the flickr and the smartpreview/compressed jgp to Iphone/Ipad albums?
    many thanks again

  • Can you sync Adobe Reader PDF's between iPad and iPhone?

I run a wedding cake bakery and have all of my contracts saved as pdf's on my iPad via Adobe Reader. I downloaded Adobe Reader for my iPhone thinking it would sync the files and I would be able to access them when I wasn't near the iPad but it doesn't appear to work. Both the iPad and the iPhone are signed into my adobe account but the documents I can access are completely different on the two devices.
Is there a way to make the documents saved on my iPad's Adobe Reader App sync and become visible on my iPhone's Adobe Reader App?
    Ella H.

Well I feel a little ridiculous now. I don't know why I didn't think of that, thanks
